  1. I think Arness has been dead for years. You are not hurting his feelings these days. Even Miss Kitty is long dead. I don't know about Festus and Doc but I think they are dead too. All the people on TV in the 50's are probably dead now. That is sad because but this is how the cookie crumbles.
  2. I would not worry too much about future exams if you are p&t. I have been p&t for 20 years and have filed many claims since then. The VA seems to just deal with your current claims for increase or new claims as they come along. They have so many claims they are probably not going back in history to take away your P&T status.
  3. This is one reason to get care at a VA hospital. All your records are right there for the VA to see. The VA has followed me for HBP for years. I got the AO big three: Heart disease, diabetes and HBP. I have already outlived every male in my family for four generations. I have had some really incompetent C&P exams over the years. Lately they have made errors in my favor. I won't correct them.
  4. I take 4 HBP meds and it is still high. I made my claim and got a C&P exam a month ago. Why the VA waits I don't know since I am a Nam vet. I am going to get any extra money, but I still want SC for it. My other presumptive claims went very fast since the facts were not at issue.
  5. If I got 8.7% I could almost live on my VA compensation. If all I got was 100% from the VA I could not live on it and pay my bills.
  6. Those who get SSA, VA or government pensions have been losing to inflation for many years. The government never gives us what the CPI indicates. It is usually 2% less. Even if a SSA recipients get $1800 a month that is hardly enough to live on these days. I do hope we get 8.7%. All my expenses have gone up.
  7. The Inspire worked ok for me, but it requires surgery. The VA does it. Cpap is the mask you see people wear who have OSA. It is really a pump to shove air into your throat to keep your airways open. Yeah, just take it off if you must and put it back on to sleep. I don't remember using the home study. I don't think the home study is enough to get a really good picture of OSA. If you have decent insurance they will pay if you get a DX. The VA is cheap and takes the cheap way out on vets. They will try to sell the cpap if you have OSA. I just could not tolerate it.
  8. Vync.....you are so right. Military doctors are also good at leaving off diagnosis and hiding notes. I went to an Army dentist for TMJ. He did not even diagnosis it. He told me the only way treat it was to put bolts in my jaw like Frankenstein. I claimed it years later and was denied as having no DX and no treatment in the army.
  9. Agent orange does not have that many presumptives. Hey, we are almost dead and gone so they can stiff us. VA dragged their feet for 50 years on AO.
  10. I feel you, Lemuel. VA is stupid and cheap. Penny wise and pound foolish. If you are 100% the VA must provide nursing home care. Of course, some VA approved nursing homes are death traps. I sued a nursing home on behalf of my mother who they killed by negligence. My wife helps me manage my diabetes. If she were not there to crack the whip I might start to slip. Then the VA might have to pay more if I went blind or my kidneys failed etc.
  11. I guess I am talking about uncontrolled HBP. You don't know you have it unless you get an exam. Mine is not controlled well by medication. I am not just talking about AO and HBP. I am talking or thinking about all the other AO diseases that were not service connected for 40 years such as heart disease, Parkinson's and diabetes. Plus there are about 20 cancers that were not connected for decades. You could not even use the VA until the 90's when Clinton opened it up to all vets, and not just service-connected vets.
  12. You won't know if you have OSA until you do that test. I have it bad and did not know until I did a sleep study. I have the Inspire device in my chest and throat instead of a cpap.
  13. If you have TDIU and you work you better know the rules on that very well. It could be tricky. If you are in a sheltered workshop or make far below the poverty wage you can get away with it. I bet if you screw up even a little the VA will slam you. I had TDIU for 20 years. I did not try to work because I could not anyway. I wanted to start a little business but since I was also on SSDI I thought better of it. Now I am 100% but too old to care about work. This is a shame to totally discourage a vet from even trying to work. In order to live you need the 100% level pay if you cannot work 40 hours. I wish I could have worked some part time job but like many I know the VA and how ruthless they can be to us.
  14. If you want to talk about delaying tactics the VA just made High Blood Pressure presumptive for AO after more than 50 years. If you have AO induced High Blood in 1975 you would be long dead by now.
  15. I think you hurt yourself by not going to the exams! Co-operate with the bs. You are fighting the game. If BVA judge says to get exams again then do it. You could be going around and around for decades with appeals. Be a good soldier and just obey orders just this once. Just my thoughts. Getting to the Court could take years. It took me six years between BVA remands.
  16. My wife handles my meds as well. She helps with my insulin shots. VA seems to be saying that unless you are a candidate for a nursing home you can't have a caregiver that gets paid. They talked to my wife like dirt and that was the end of that. She don't play dat! It is not good because she deserves the money for doing the VA's job. However, can you imagine how long we would last in some VA approved nursing home? It is a death sentence.
  17. I tried to get my discharge changed to a medical discharge since I spent 2 months in hospital. No dice! I could have hired a lawyer but it was not worth it. 98% of those kinds of appeals get denied.
  18. It is going to get crazy up in here. Vets get screwed as usual.
  19. Regarding anxiety and depression related to chronic pain: Every decent doctor knows these things are related except the VA. They want you to prove it.
  20. VA has dragged their feet on AO presumptive conditions for decades. If the vet is dead maybe the widow will have the knowledge to ask for DIC. The spouse has to file a claim and prove that the vet had presumptive condition and that he/she is entitled to DIC. DIC is a very little bit of money. It is about half of what a 100% vet would get. So VA rings up the cash register and saves money by denying presumptive conditions for 50 years. It is just about the money.
  21. The VA are such bastards. I put my claim in for HBP due to AO. They expect vets in the 70's to wait four years for an effective date? Most RVN vets will probably be dead by 2026 which is what they want. I am glad the ED with be 8-22-2022. VA does not give a damn about us.
  22. Unless you have been Baker Acted in Florida they can't just come and get your guns. If you are suicidal it might be good to lock them up and give someone else the key. The government needs cause to take a person's guns.
  23. Oh, how true that is Dustoff. C&P doctors don't need much to start to mine you answer and come up with you being a personality disorder. They might ask you how you got along with your parents or how you did in school. The correct answer is "Great". Trouble with the law.......never. I love everyone and everyone loves me except for the three eyed demon that lives in my closet.
  24. Pacman I think the VA hardly ever grants "S" when you get TDIU or 100%. They force you to appeal or wait until you get an extra 60%. I know what the rules say but the VA just ignores them.
  25. I had to file a claim to get my "S". I had TDIU plus 60% and VA did not grant me SMC S. If you don't ask for it you don't get it.
