  1. Buck52 is right, Do a Intent to File(ITF) now so Your back pay will be Started. This can give you thousands of more dollars depending how long it will be until you submit your claim. It will take less than 5 minutes of your time on ebenefits. Good luck and thank you for your service.
  2. See My self having a strong case for TDIU. Just trying to figure what to do with my time if I win My Case. My question has more to do with the investment part. I certainly am no carpenter and Would have to pay other people to do the work. I was just wondering my limits and certainly not try to pull the wool of the VA or my doctors eyes.
  3. It is for Mental Health so I guess that's why he can not go to school. Well that what I figured, but I just wanted to see what others think on this subject. Thanks
  4. Hello, Just wondering what I can do and what I can not do if my TDIU claim is approved. Does property investments count as work? If I buy and fix cheap houses and then sell for a profit would this be allowed or does it count as work. Same question about buying and selling cars for a profit, is this allow. Also I have a buddy that is 100 percent P&T and he claims he not even allowed to take college classes. Is this true? Any body that has input on this topic would be great. Thanks Bill.
  5. I would talk to the pharmacy and see what my option are. Just in case take your prescription with you to Costa Rica. Medicines are usually in other countries. Have fun in Costa Rica. It is a beautiful country. Hope your mother in law gets well. Pure Vida!
  6. Praned1983, Are you being seen by the VA doctors or private. I too have PTSD and was being seen by the VA. Even though it is just their job to treatment it seem like they would word their notes to not help me with a PTSD claim. I ask them to do a DBQ on me and was told they were not allowed. At that point I cancelled my appointment with them and got private doctors to treat me. They have help me a lot and with my PTSD claim too. This was an option for me because I am retired military and I can use my Tricare. If it is an option for you I would recommend see private doctors and not VA doctors. If not you might have to stay with the VA doctors.
  7. I think you would have a better chance of getting SSDI for your PTSD. I would add that your SSDI claim and do both claims simultaneously (VA & SSDI). Good Luck.
  8. Navy4life, I wish you luck and get a favorable decision. Also hope for decision very soon to. Good luck, Bill
  9. Thanks For the Post, I am a FNG too and have been trying to learn the lingo. This will help, but I did not see NEXUS on the list. Not exactly sure what this is or stands for, but I think it is some kind of doctors note. Thanks Bill
  10. I do Have the letter from my doctors too. I am also going to have them do a DBQ on me and I will give them all of my service and medical records for them to review.
  11. Here the letter my director(GS-14) wrote for me. Blackwell VA LTR.docx
  12. I was going to file for SSDI on line but you think it would be better if I go too the SSA office and File. I still a little confuse why people do not think It matters if I wait until I am not working until I file for my VA claim. It seems that since I lost my job due directly to my PTSD (and I have a letter form my director stating this) that it would show the severity of my disability.
  13. It make me mad when I hear people talk about Vets like that. They have no idea what we went through. Any benefit we receive from our service we earn. Well that is my 2 cents. Thanks for sharing.
  14. It is a requirement that I apply for SSDI when I file for Federal disability Retirement (OPM rules). I guess I have a lot of claims to do.
  15. Hello, I put in an Intent to file for PTSD last September. I have been waiting to file because of my place of employment. Here is the story, I have been working at White Sands Missile Range now for as a DOD security guard. Over the last year they temporary disqualified me as a security guard due to the severity of my PTSD and assigned me to ADMIN duties. During this time over the last year I have been evaluated by the base doctor and psychologist to see if my condition improves enough to go back to work as A security guard. Well, It has not improved and have now permanently disqualified me from my job as a security guard. They CPOL office searched for an alternative job for me and found nothing in which I am qualified for. I have now been told that I will be losing my job soon. I will be putting in for disability retirement from government service. So back to my question. Should I wait until I have lost my job to file my PTSD claim or should I go ahead and do it now? I feel I will get a higher rating if I wait until I lost my job so I can add that to my Claim. Also do you think I should Apply for TDIU? Appreciate any thoughts on this topic. Thanks
  16. Thanks Broncovet, I do not trust the VA anymore. I though my VA primary care provider was doctor. I though wrong. I later learn she was a physician assistant. Since I am retired from the service I now try to use my Tricare and see non VA doctors. Especially when it come to mental health.
  17. I not an expert at this, but my guess would be 10%. Hopefully I am wrong and they will give you more. Good Luck, Bill
  18. My psychiatrist and psychologist from the VA will not fill out a DBQ form but refers me to the C&P office. They told me they are not allowed to fill out that form. That is why a terminated their services with them and now I am using my Tricare to see a private psychiatrist and psychologist. I will ask both of them to do a DBQ on me to submit with my claim.
  19. Thank you, this great information. For a PTSD DBQ does the doctor have to be a psychiatrist or can I use my Pyschologist to fill out this form?
  20. I will try to do a FDC but I do not know if I need a DBQ from my private psychiatrist for a FDC or not. Since I not SC yet I believe I can not do a for DBQ form 21-0960P-3. I have do the form 21-0960P-4 and this form is only done at the C&P exam. Am I correct on this or Am I mistaken? Thank you.
  21. I just wanted to prove SC. I though the more the better chance of that. But I think with my top 2 will definitely prove SC. Thanks.
  22. Thanks Buck52 and Broncovet. I do have a current diagnosis by a VA doctor of PTSD, but I do not have nothing that saids it is SC. So the main thing I will have to prove in my Claim is that it is SC and then I should be good to go, But I do not trust the VA to give me a proper evaluation on my claim. Once again thing for you help.
  23. Thank you for your time and input. I am working on my PTSD Claim. I have been seen my counselors, psychologist and psychiatrist for 3 years been through the 10 week in patient PTSD Program at the Waco VA hospital, been refered by the VA to a local mental hospital for suicidation for 2 weeks and I am also getting fired from my government job as a security guard because of my PTSD. But I don not believed I have ever been SC for PTSD so that is why I would like for you to look at my stressor and give me any advice whether it would be considered a stressor and service connected. First of all these are all for OIF. Stressor 1. I was in an Air defense Artillery Station at TA-Thunder in Kuwait. Part of my unit went forward and got ambushed, we lost 9 soldiers which I was very close to. I was serving as a Platoon Sergeant and had to comfort my soldier of the loss of their fellow service members while not try to show any emotion my self. Even though this did not directly happen to me losing your soldier during combat still haunts me today. Would you consider this as a stressor? Stressor 2. Being in Air defense we constantly having SCUD alerts having to go to MOPP4 and waiting it out in the bunker wondering if you were going to shoot down the SCUD or not. We had one that 3 seconds from impact of our location. The stress of worry if your were going to live or not and the impact it would have on my family is something that still races through my mind today. Would you considered this a stressor? Stressor 3. As I platoon sergeant for Fire Control Platoon I played a major role in the training of my van crews. But we screwed up. We shot down and Killed British Pilot mistaken it for a SCUD. I Have Major guilt that If we were better trained that this might of not happened. Would you considered this as a stressor? Stressor 4. Our unit was attacked by small arm fired at night. The unit had to deploy to their fire position and defend the unit. No one got hurt or shot and the unit that we were attached to capture 2 POW's but this incident did scared the heck out me and I was in fear of my life and soldiers lifes. Also I have a bullet on MY Award form DA 638 that talk about this incident. Would you consider this a Stressor? Stressor 5. This is a non combat stressor. Is being assign to funeral detail on a two man team and conducting over 60 funeral over a two month period. Would you count that as a stressor. The 5 thing I mention above is what races around in my head and I can not seem to get rid of it. I just want to see what you think to make sure I do a proper claim. Thanks for your opinion on this matter.
