C&p On Thursday

Question

I have a C&P on Thursday at Castle Point for my TDIU. So what do I tell the doctor when they ask me why I am there. I did read the tips section, by the way they were great tips, but I still don't know what I should say.

If they ask why are you here today.....do I respond, because I was sent a notice to be here for an exam. I am at a loss.

I know how I feel....crappy...everyday, I smile to make it look as if there is nothing wrong, when in fact I am in pain everyday. I have double vision, floaters, photophobia, constant tinnitus, tmj, headaches/migraines that seem to never go away (3-4 a week) dizziness, cold intolerance, nausea, my head hurts, I can barely brush my hair because my scar is tender and painful, the left side of my body has loss of use, the entire side, my neck and back are in constant pain, pins and needles in my hands and feet, I slur my words, have short term memory loss to the point that I am repeating myself a lot and have no recolection of conversations ever taking place, I am always tired, slow thinking and cold. I can barely turn my head from left to right and barely look up. My right eye droops and both eyes twitch, I have nystagmus in the left eye. I have hypothyroidism. My knee hurts and makes crunching noises when it bends, I gained weight and have problems doing household tasks by myself. I feel as if I am a trapped inside the body of a 90 year old woman.

Well I am alive and that is what counts, but I do not want to mess this C&P up, so help me please.

Thanks

Have a great day!!!

The c&p examiners will know what you are there for, a c&p is what the va orders to see have you gotton better or worsten and they will send there information to the raters and the raters will determine whether or not you getTDIU.If you are service connected with all the disabilities that you have posted, let the examiners know that everything have, gotton worst and how much pain you are having everyday . Good luck!

Just be yourself and dont hide anything. The Doc has read the file and he knows what to look for. You present at the C@P with the symptoms you have you should have no problem. Dont get nervous. Be calm, cool, and collective. Tell him you feel trapped in a 90 year old's body.

If the Doc asks questions, tell him the answer. You have been through a lot. I hope it is getting near the end.

His opinion is what counts for IU.

A Veteran is a person who served this country. Treat them with respect.

A Disabled Veteran is a person who served this country and bears the scars of that service regardless of when or where they served.

Treat them with the upmost respect. I do. Rejection is not a sign of failure. Failure is not an option, Medical opinions and evidence wins claims. Trust in others is a virtue but you take the T out of Trust and you are left with Rust so be wise about who you are dealing with.

Tamara:

Good Luck and they will know what they are looking for. Take that pic with you and if you don't mind put your old one up.

I am praying that your C&P goes well. I also suggest that you sign a form or ask to sign a form that tells the VARO to go ahead and rate your claim with the info they have. I did it when I had mine Feb 19th and it really sped things up for me.

Don't worry be happy but be your old grumpy self at your C&P

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

Pete,

ok, now I have to find the old picture. If not I may have a different one floating around. ( I posted that picture when I was asking about submitting for the scar, which I still havent, but figure I will hand deliver when I go on Thursday)

If I ask them to rate is with what they have, what will become of the other secondary conditions I had submitted a few months ago and supposedly haven't gotten around to doing anything with it yet. I added the tmj, hypothyroidism, and tinnitus but I had already gotten the notice for the TDIU C&P before that. I haven't even gotten the letter for duty to assist for the tmj, hypo and tinnitus yet.

And yes, thats the picture I am taking with me, my brother just emailed it to me and he named it zipper head (he loves to call me that still today).

OH, another question, I don't have it listed with the VA anywhere, but the Chiari (brain herniation) created a brainstem hump (c1-c2), that is where the permanent damage to my left side came in. Is there anything I can submit for the brainstem hump, because it is still there and will never go away. oh yea, maybe even bone loss, due to the fact I had a lamenectomy (removal of c1 and partial c-2). If there is something I can submit, I will especially if they deny me IU.

Thanks everyone for the input.

PS. How long does the exm usually take?

Have a great day!!!

I am sorry you should use whatever picture you want. I like the dog you have on now. We can learn a lot from dogs and one thing is to be patient and no need to get uptight unless you sense something wrong.

Again good luck I think that you are going to be pleasantly surprised.

    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
    • Welcome to hadit!

There are certain rules about community care reimbursement, and I have no idea if you met them or not.  Try reading this:

      https://www.va.gov/resources/getting-emergency-care-at-non-va-facilities/

However, (and I have no idea of knowing whether or not you would likely succeed) Im unsure of why you seem to be so adamant against getting an increase in disability compensation.

When I buy stuff, say at Kroger, or pay bills, I have never had anyone say, "Wait!  Is this money from disability compensation, or did you earn it working at a regular job?"  Not once.  Thus, if you did get an increase, likely you would have no trouble paying this with the increase compensation.

However, there are many false rumors out there that suggest if you apply for an increase, the VA will reduce your benefits instead.

That rumor is false but I do hear people tell Veterans that a lot.  There are strict rules VA has to reduce you and, NOT ONE of those rules have anything to do with applying for an increase.

Yes, the VA can reduce your benefits, but generally only when your condition has "actually improved" under ordinary conditions of life.

Unless you contacted the VA within 72 hours of your medical treatment, you may not be eligible for reimbursement, or at least that is how I read the link, I posted above. Here are SOME of the rules the VA must comply with in order to reduce your compensation benefits:

    • Good question.

Maybe I can clear it up.

The spouse is eligible for DIC if you die of a SC condition OR any condition if you are P and T for 10 years or more.  (my paraphrase).

      More here:

      Source:

      https://www.va.gov/disability/dependency-indemnity-compensation/

NOTE:   TO PROVE CAUSE OF DEATH WILL LIKELY REQUIRE AN AUTOPSY.  This means if you die of a SC condtion, your spouse would need to do an autopsy to prove cause of death to be from a SC condtiond.    If you were P and T for 10 full years, then the cause of death may not matter so much.
