New Beginning Registering For Va Mental Health Ptsd Mdd Psychotic Features

Question

Well today I called the Va to start mental health treatment. I was informed that I needed to register with patient services. So either today or tomorrow I will go to the mental health clinic to begin treatment. So after I go down there and see if I can be seen and helped I will update the results. Prozac seems to only help me be more social. It does nothing for my violent side. So I plan to stay in treatment until I get this mental situation under control.

Anti-psychotic drugs like Seroquel can have profound side effects ....some that are permanent. I took Stelazine 40 years ago given to me by the Army. I had to go to the hospital. I never took it again and I would have to be really batty to ever take that stuff again. If you are having hallucinations then it is fine for a short while.

Ok yeah I have hallucinations and a little more. Im going to try it. Anything is better than the way I am. So I got to give it a try. I'm staying in the house so if anything go bad I'm straight to the emergency rooom

I understand and I am not trying to be wiseguy. I was given anti-psychotics as treatment and they really put a whammy on me. If you need them then you need them. I was thinking of consequences of long term use. I take plenty of drugs that are not really good for me due to chronic pain, depression and anxiety these days. My brain may have been altered by now so it must have these drugs.

Ok so I tried SEROQUEL and I only took a half of a pill I went to sleep whenn I woke up I was having hallucinations hearing things and I felt drunk. It actually scared me. So I might give it another try but seriously the Prozac and the prazosin have me sleeping all night and all afternoon. Also my ankle all the way to my hip is hurting and my middle toes are in pain. I don't know if it's side affects are what. Soooo I see my primary care physician /Psychiatrst June 15 at the VA. IM STILL GOING TO KEEP MY KAISER DOcTOR just for back up. Low key I'm scared the VA will try to kill me. I KOULD be paranoid most likely I am but ooh well I'm not living any way so I might as well try. I just don't know how I got to the point I'm at. I'm loosing friends left to right I guess by the violent things I say. I'm thinking it's normal when they thinking this guy is sick. I don't know. I enjoyed myself fishing in the woods with my dad. I hate coming back to the city. It's to many people. They like a million ants and at times I can't take it. Oh yeah I been taking the prazosin for a week. Nightmares stopped for the first 4-5 days. Then they started coming back after that WIERD WIERD dreams. So the medicine prescribed me to take two after one week then increase at the end of each week until my nightmares are gone. None of these doctors really have done anything to fix my pain just give me meds. I also almost decided just to commit myself after one particular night of rage. But I just stayed at home and decided to wait for my doctors appointment. Also sometimes I think that the va is messing with my head with this service connection. I hope they not jerking my chain that would really upset me. On a brighter note the Prozac made me more better in my relationship with my daughters mother. More loving I guess she is happy I'm taking my pills. Really I do not know how my life is going to end up. I hope everything is cool. I will be glad when they decide the rest of my claim so ican strt making decisions on my life where to go where to live what I can afford. I am very thankful just for these two months I been service connected for my ba and knees and nerve damage. Well I needed to get this stuff out of my head so ican go to sleeee p. HAPPY MEMRIAL DAY SOLDIERS

Well I went to two prazosin and now my DREAMZ have stopped well my nightmares. I am sleeping better in my sleep. I can't remember my entire dreams but I know they are WIERD. Before I went to sleep and I was closing my eyes I heard a scream just one high pitch scream. Then I was seeing black shadows in the dark. The doctor aid said that I was suppose to take seraquel at night before bedtime so idid it wrong. So I'm going to try it again

This is good news. You know for many prozac tends to make sexual relations impossible. You are one of the lucky ones.

    • These decisions have made a big impact on how VA disability claims are handled, giving veterans more chances to get benefits and clearing up important issues.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected.

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

    • Caluza Triangle defines what is necessary for service connection
Caluza Triangle – Caluza vs Brown defined what is necessary for service connection. See COVA– CALUZA V. BROWN–TOTAL RECALL

This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”

    • Do the sct codes help or hurt my disability rating
    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.

They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.

      This is not true,

      Proof:

About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends.

Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken.

A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did.

I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
