IU after Retirement

I was talking about this in another thread but as @Buck52 said I don't want to hijack someone else thread.

I will be retiring from the federal government around the end of October, I will be receiving a retirement check from them, I am also retired from the Air Force. My quest is can I get IU even though I am retired?

Once I retire I will also go to the VA Voc ReHab. I am also hoping (like everyone else on this site) to get to 100% P&T I almost there now.

If I do get 100% P&T is there any need to pursue IU?

@Buck52 and @GeekySquid I am looking around on the VA My Health site and I just downloaded a file which shows:

 

Is this enough for the ED claim? It is from 10/20/2016, I had a psychical with the VA so I could get a pair of glasses?

Active problems - Computerized Problem List is the source for the following:

1. Benign hypertension 2. Erectile dysfunction 3. Scoliosis 4. OSA

It also list Non-VA SILDENAFIL TAB 100MG MOUTH ACTIVE

My IVDS (Scoliosis is a birth defect) and I have had ED well before my first VA claim.

normally I would just say yes as it has the bph and blue pill medical evidence leaving SC which should be a no brainer considering other stuff.

BUT your other post of IVDS makes it interesting.

Did the military accept you knowing you had Scoliosis? Did they say you were fit for Duty? were you treated in service for the IVDS? Did the VA rate the IVDS as SC (maybe aggravating an NSC condition?)

Did your military treatment records show ED? connected to IVDS? Did the VA treat you for the BPH or ED? prescribe anything at all for either?

Yes the military knew about it when I joined and yes the military made it worse. In the service they treated me for pulled muscles and back issues. I saw many military specialist while active duty.

No I did not have ED in the military, that came along several years later.

cool. so they knew about it and accepted you as you were, allowing you to serve, and you have multiple in service treatments related to the NSC they accepted you with. The VA, I assume, rated you SC for the IVDS.

The ED should not be a problem. If i remember your dates right the military did not give out the blue pill in those days and you, like most of us, were unlikely to have complained about this to a corpsman.

Let's face it, even today I would be willing to bet you have some level of discomfort discussing things related to your penis, (sex drive, urinary problems etc) with males on the internet or in person. This is normal. I don't want to share that stuff either, but by doing so it might help another vet get their proper award.

Unless there is a deforming injury, rarely would ED be a "talked about" condition in those days, and today the VA seems to just accept your lay evidence + bph/blue pill as there is no deformity you are treating for.

Yes I do hate discussing my ED with female doctors, much more comfortable with male doctors (I am just old fashion about that), I was in from 3/78 - 7/1995 17 years 3 months (they were offering early retirements back then).

I will submit what I have and see what they say.
