Can you file Temporary 100% for Convalescence Retroactively
How long to you have to file for temporary 100% convalescence for surgery on a service-connected condition? I asked a VSO this question and he said I can file retroactively. so I put in a claim for surgery that was done in 2010. But since, I have heard, and read a BVA case, where you only have a year to file. I need to know whether or not to withdraw the claim. The VA is scheduling me for knee exam that is being scheduled that I believe is unnecessary. I am sure it is being scheduled because of my request for retroactive pay, however I already had a knee exam on 21 April 2016 as part of a re-evaluation exam.. The 2016 exam should be sufficient to determi…

Additional claim pending NOD
Good morning, I've had a NOD pending in St. Pete for a PTSD Claim, I was advised to process that claim first. It was denied, hence the NOD. I have several other claims I would like to file, but was told they would not be reviewed/looked at until the the NOD was resolved. Is this true? That doesn't make sense to me, but this whole gig hasn't made any. Thanks for the comments. Brent GySgt, Ret.

What happens when a vet with an Other Than Honorable discharge is rated at 100% Total & Permanent based off an earlier service period?
Do they qualify for a retiree ID? Do they qualify for PX & Commissary privileges? Do they qualify for state benefits for being rated 100% P&T? Even if their DD-214 states Other Than Honorable?

New here, a bit confused. Opinions please??
Hello, I have been reading this forums a while but a bit confused if I should pursue a claim. Background :45 years old,male...discharged honorable in 1996. Have never made a claim or filed for any VA health benefits or disability. I was in the Army in an Airborne Unit. Total service time 26 months. Discharged because I could not pass a PT run test (actually due to knee and ankle pain). I did NOT get a medical discharge. Basic training Ft Jackson, AIT Ft Gordan, Jump school Ft Benning, stationed Ft Bragg. When I was discharged I was scheduled for physical therapy for my ankle and never received it (noted in medical records). In my military medical records I was diagnosed s…

Sevice-Connected Disabilty - R Knee 7244 EPTE and Hepititus C
Hello. I am hoping someone can help me answer some questions I have about applying for service-connected disability. In 1974 I was an 'idealistic' teenager and believed that the guys running to Canada to avoid the draft was not appropriate. So at 19 years of age, I joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Little did I know what I was 'setting myself up for' ... During this time the Marine Corps was training women the same as they were training men. We often would joke about the fact that we 'joined the Marine Corps to "become a man" ... but the attrition rate of the females to men was proof of the difficulty of service. During Vietnam there were <2,500 women Marines that se…

Pes Planus
Hello, I have a question. I recently filed for Pes Planus and they granted me service connection 0 percent. My MEPS exam stated pes planus mild asymptomatic, and my exit exam stated pes planus severe asymptomatic. During my time in service I was given shoe inserts to help with pain from the run and marches and said to have increased pronation. I also have knee and back problems. I want to NOD and file for increase. Do I have a claim? Any help is appreciated.

Agent Orange
My husband was in the New York Army National Guard from June 1969 until Jan 1977..His summer camp duties for his years of service were at Camp Drum, NY. He does have some va benefits due to being called to active duty for Operation Graphic Hands in March 1970, he has a Veterans Universal Access Identification card. Thirteen drums of Agent Orange were sprayed at Camp Drum on 4 square miles from a helicopter spray device in 1959. From what I have read residue can linger for many, many years. In 1995 my husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. He condition is considered severe. I have all medical paper work for his illness and am in the process of getting all offi…

Insomnia & Sleep Apnea
Hi - I've been retired for over 4 years and diagnosed with sleep apnea prior to leaving the service. I've been on a CPAP ever since and just went through another sleep study (5 years after the original) that confirmed previous findings and increased the pressure setting on my CPAP machine. Currently at 50% service-connected disability for sleep apnea. My question is around insomnia. I have it and it's in my medical records prior to leaving the service. I've been on Ambien for insomnia for over 10 years. Can insomnia be claimed in conjunction with sleep apnea?
