Help Connecting Husband's Heart Condition
My husband was discharged 11/2/1970 with 30% SC for back, hip & knee injuries. On 6/30/1971, 8 months later he was called back for a reevaluation. During the reevaluation they ordered a Chest PA & LAT. The results were: 2 M Chestogram, PA and Lateral views 6/30/1971, shows no consolidative lesion. Heart shadow appears abnormal in that the aortic knob is hypoplastic, (small) and there is prominence of the main pulmonary artery (convex border instead of concave) and there is suggestion of some increased roundness of the left ventricle without any evidence of cardiac enlargement. one should rule out possibilities: 1. Aortic valvular disease? 2. Bronchial asthma? …

Should I File A Nod?
On 26 June 2006 I received service connection for COPD secondary to Asthma. I was awarded 30% with an effective date of 3 May 2005. I would not have been awarded COPD if I did not have a copy of my medical retirement board procedings which stated asthma with copd secondary. When I was medically retired on 9 June 1986 I completed a VA Form 21-526E, titled "Veterans application for compensation or pension at seperation from service " Under nature of sickness #6, diseases, or injuries for which claim is made, and date each began- I left blank Under Nature of sickness #7 I entered SEE health Record. I have reviewed this form over and over, the only typed info…

Va Says I Owe $8,000.00 And Change
Hi to all the great folks at hadit and mucho thanks to T-bird. If anyone has information to share, it is most appreciated. Here is the story: I am rated 100% IU SC multiple sclerosis. As is the case with MS, it has gotten worse, not better. I disability-retired from my federal job about four years ago due to the MS. I served in the Army from Sept. '80 -'87 and was honorably medically discharged due to asthma, 10% lump sum payment. During the later part of my service I developed symptoms consistent with MS although MS was not thought of at the time. In due course I was definitly diagnosed with MS and monthly payments began. The VSO explained the severance pay for the…

Benefits At Different Percentages
Can someone show the list of benefits for the different rating percentages for all to see.I know it was posted here before but I can't seem to find it again. It would be very beneficial to all veterans if it were put on the home page or at least a link.Lots of vets don't even know what they are entitled to once they are rated.Thank you. :(

ptsd Confused About C & P Of Right Knee And Other Questions
Two questions: 1) Had C & P exam on SC right knee. Got a copy of it today. There was significant damage to the right knee including -30 degrees range of motion on extension which I think is significant. I only requested an exam on my right knee but the VA form that the examiner filled out has a question about other knee abnormality: mild collateral lig-laxity, also a ROM of -30 degrees. I am wondering if this is will automatically be considered bi-lateral or if I will have to file another claim for the left knee? 2) The RO returned the report to the examiner for corrections. Can anyone interpret this opinion for me? Is it service-connected or not? :( …

Heart Disease
Hi: How does the VA rate heart disease for disability purposes? I have high blood pressure, top number constantly in the 150-160 range while on BP medication, bottom number normal. Calcified plaque also showed up in a major artery in abdomen while they were doing x-rays of lower back. Is there anywhere I can go to find out how VA rates these conditions? I am also rated 70% for major depressive disorder. Thanks Liz

Letter After C&p
My husband had a C&P today for his toe. A NP did the C&P, and said "he could see that the toe did not bend, but he couldn't say that it did not bend before the surgery". So my husband asked if our daughter and myself could write a letter stating that it did bend before surgery and he said that would be a good idea. His primary care dr. knows that it would bend before surgery, but she will not write a note or say anything about it. Does anyone have any idea of how we should write this and who we should address it to? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, sbrewer

hypertension Hypertension
Well I heard from Dr. Bash and he told me it would cost around $3000 for an IMO. Now he did tell me we would need to talk and that may change, go down. He said it would depend upon how complex my case would be. He also told me his success rate was 80-90%. The way my luck has been I would be that 10-20%. So I am contemplating! The 2 Vet offices, not associated with the veterans, don’t spend the money. O what to do. bill
