Entitlement - Veterans Compensation Benefits Claims
Once you know you are eligible for Veterans Disability Compensation, the question then becomes are you entitled to it by law. This is where to post those questions. it's OK, if you are feeling confused this is not at all unusual it can be a very confusing system. If you were injured in service and have a question about whether you are entitled to file a claim, post it here. Law 38C.F.R.3.4 (a)

Calcified Granuloma In Lung
After a chest X-ray for a respiratory infection, and subsequent CT scan, I found out that I have a calcified granuloma in my right lung. I've heard that it is caused by some foreign body that was inhaled into the lung (mold, asbestos, etc.), and that it may or may not be serious. I've had moderate pain in the area for the last 2+ years, but thought it was from an old rib injury. I lived in several different barracks (old) while in the Army, and the last building had black mold growing on all the air ducts, above the dropped ceiling tiles there was asbestos tape on the pipes, and rats infested the building. I am not exaggerating one iota; it was B quad of Schofield Bar…

Denial Of Service Connection For Cyst Removal
Need some help here guys and gals. Just had my claim for a cyst removal (scar) secondary to my already service connected pseudofolliculitis 10% (shaving bumps) denied. The claim letter states "that the condition is not related based on the statement from the examiner that epidermoid cysts are not due to pseudofolliculitis". I don't think this is true, but I'm no Dr or dermatologist. I contacted the Dr who did the surgery and he said that he couldn't write me a letter stating his opinion because the surgery was longer than a year ago. I've done some research online and the mayo clinic's website states that epidermoid cyst causes can be from "damage to a hair follicle".…

Question About Some Claims
Okay Ill try and keep this short so people with experience dont have to read a book to respond. The long of the short is that it took about 9 years for my to get my disability approved. Im currently rated at 30%. I was told and was under the impression this was for flat feet. My original claim was for left foot condition that at the time was not diagnosed properly. I was discharged medically due to "Hallux Vulgus" yet that was not the underlying condition. At any rate after 9 years they finally came back with the flat foot rating because I didnt have flat feet going in but do now. I actually have RSD in my foot/lower left calf. So I filed for an increase after t…

ptsd Is My Nephew Entitled To Compensation
Hi. I hope someone can answer this question and also place this into the proper section. My brother was in the Navy. He was killed on Mother's day 1982. He has a son (jr) who was approximately 8 years old when his father died. He is now 34. Throughout his entire life (since his father was killed), he has blamed everyone for taking his daddy from him, acting crazy (I really think he is), going in and out of jail and prison, etc... I know he has PTSD due to his father's death, but I need to know if there is someway I can file a claim for him to receive some kind of compensation. Hoping someone can help with some answers. Thanks

ptsd A Reason For The Delay?
As you can see from our other posts, I've been waiting for over a year to have my PTSD claim rated AND have my dependants status added to my compensation. (If you'd like to take a look: & I've previously sent in my stressor letter (proof of stressor) and my additional dependant information in as the VA had requested....and I waited and waited and called and checked and etc, etc. I was told they had my marriage/dependant information, but it had been lost back in December. Yesterday, I called and found out that they needed additional information on my PTSD claim. Today, I got the letter and the form they needed filled out. Guess what?!! They need a proof of stre…

ptsd Hello All, A Few Questions
New guy here, currently active duty in the Army and in the process of getting out with approximately 4 months left. I'm in the infantry (paratrooper) and have 15 months of combat missions in Iraq and 4 months of humanitarian efforts in Haiti under my belt. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the whole getting out of the army process, and more specifically, getting my claims turned in with the VA and all good with that while I'm still on active duty. They said it's considerably easier and faster to take care of all this while still on active duty, so needless to say, I'm stressing on this a little. I'm getting all my medical records in order and getting everything organized and an…

ptsd Hi Everyone... Just A Question Here
VFW sent me a letter saying that I'll probably get a notification of 60% from the VA very soon... Said I might be eligible for Vocational Rehab and Employment Benefits (What are those???) Also, at 60%, is there anything I should do now? I don't know what else to do. My Mrs. was sad to see I only got 30% for PTSD, as she see's it's ravaging effects so often... I'l probably put in a NOD. What else is out there for a 60%'er? Thanks my friends. OEF
