New Iris Answer
Here is the answer to my Iris I posted to the VA this morning: Thank you for your inquiry to the Department of Veterans Affairs dated November 1, 2010 regarding the status of your claim. Claims for the three new presumptive conditions of exposure to Agent Orange will be given priority when the Congressional review of the regulation that will be used to rate these claims has been completed. As of this date there has been no official word regarding this review. Information should be forthcoming soon. I was under the opinion this was all over and done with!! Why are they STALLING MORE! Anyone hearing anything else???

I Would Suggest
Well Monday Nov 1st will bring to an end the wait for the 3 new presumptives CRA required 60 days and the Vets that suffer from these 3 diseases will finally get their deserved compensation. I wish everyone good luck and hope it is what we thought it would be. To all I would hope some would post and let us know how it goes here. To everyone that does not get their's on Monday sit tight I can not imagine the VA will be able to fulfill all of these in one day. lets all work together to get the message out to all the remaining Vietnam Vets that may not know! To all my Vietnam vets WELCOME HOME!

Chloracne Or Rosacea- File A Claim Or It Is Too Late?
Let me start by saying: I went to my Neurology appointment yesterday and had great news. i do not have Parkinson's Disease, but I do have essential tremors. The Doc was great and increased my Primidone dose. He even gave me his number and extension to call him as to how I am doing. If I am not getting better, then I can just call him and he will increase the meds again. While I was there he inquired about my face and asked me about what type of treatment the docs were giving me. I asked him "what treatment, no one has ever mentioned this to me". I had on a ball cap and he still could see my bright red blotchy face. I have had this for a long time now. In fact, I ha…

Another New Website From The Va!
From another board this is way cool if it works! http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/AO/fasttrack.htm You are supposed to be able to check your claims for the 3 new presumptive but you can not sign up until Oct. 29th which is Friday I think so not that big of a wait. Mods meant to put this in the Agent Orange forum and posted in general first. Please delete from there if you do not want it twice!

Ao / Ihd Treadmill Stress Test Question
Hi Everyone, I have suffered with Angina since 1994 and have been on medication since then. This is a result of my in-country Vietnam service and exposure to Agent Orange. I recently had to perform a treadmill stress test for the VA at a QTC facility here in Houston for my AO IHD claim. Before the test, I was interviewed by a Doctor and I asked him if I should take the treadmill test or simply do the echo-test. His response was my choice, but that most people opt for the echo test since it is easier on the body. The results are not as conclusive as the stress test but again are easier and safer to perform. If the stress test is attempted and cannot be completed …

Ratings That May Be Coming Your Way?
I have seen a few posts on other sites where some vets are telling vets that 100% is the MAX we can get! This is not true. While 100% for one condition IS the MAX if you have other conditions and they add up to 60% then your compensation will go up based on an SMC benefit awarded. The rate tables for the SMC awards are at the same area as the regular rates just click of the SMC rates on that page and it opens up. IN SMC it is based on severity if you have 60% then it would be SMC-S or housebound there is also rates for missing hands feet and eyes just look at the tables for SMC N M and so on. Now when you have been awarded 100% for your Heart as I have I also w…

Going All The Way To Oct.30Th
Got an Iris answer from the RO yesterday and they still insist that they will do nothing with my claim as far as decision and award/deny until the full 60 day CRA period is over and the new final regs go into effect. This is really just a bunch of hog was on their part! The FINAL rules are already out there and the congress is out until sometime in November! The RO's should start sending out awards and decisions NOW!

hypertension Deferred Decision On Claim For Ihd/ao
Denial info for hypertension claim posted in Claims section. The claim was for hypeertension secondary to ischemic heart disease/ischemic heart disease based on heribicde exposure. But, along with the denial for hypertension, this is the communication from Seattle RO about IHD/AO claim filed last October! "We have deferred a decision on your claim for ischemic heart disease based on herbicide exposure. However, this disease has not yet been added to the Dept of VA regulations governing diseases presumptively associated with herbicide exposure. In order to add this disease, we must follow a series of legal requirements, including publishing a notice in the Federal Re…

hypertension Agent Orange - Secondary
In November of 2009, I applied for compensation based upon agent orange exposure while I was in Vietnam with the Army in 1967 - 68. I have had heart disease since 1989. I also claimed vestibular hypofunction, stroke and hypertension as secondary. All of these ailments are caused by endothelial damage to the arteries as is IHD. I finally had a C&P in August 2010 for all the condtions claimed. Each VA physician or health care professional I saw confirmed and stated in the C&P report that all health problems I claimed were at least as likely as not caused or aggravated by exposure to agent orange. My Board Certified private cardiologist of 20 years also stated t…

Cardio
These links might help someone with a IHD claim. If I had not gotten a medical acronym list years ago (that was very limited and pre -internet)I would not have won my claims. The best one I found was in a book at a yard sale that a nurse had =with lots of medical texts for sale. The internet has certainly altered the lives of any VA claimant since those days. http://www.nfchcm.com/cardiac_acronyms.htm http://www.medhelp.org/tags/health_page/280/Heart/Common-Heart-Related-Acronyms?hp_id=2 If the word ischemia regarding the heart appears in any new AO presumptive claim, the VA will seek the results of any ECHO and/or METS tests and can rate ,in many cases, …
