tdiu Inferred Tdiu
My husband received another VCAA informing him they were working on a claim for TDIU. He never filed a TDIU. Upon further investigation through our VSO and Jim Strickland, we found out: When the VA receives a claim for a disabling disease that is now presumtive, if there is sufficient evidence included that the Vet is unable to work due to this disease, a TDIU will be generated by the VA and adjudicated together. We did not fill out the TDIU request because my husband has a AICD implant and should be rated 100%, therefore making the TDIU moot. Checked the box, no other evidence, please decide my claim in 30 days. If the rating comes back less than 100&, will be workin…

New Presumptions And Senator Jim Webb’S Amendment
Hello all: I was thinking of going to d.c. to be there for this hearing, but while on the internet, found link to view live committee meetings. Hope this is helpful to at least someone. Later Dave It says can view live meetings but haven't tried it. have viewed several old ones. Please note that Senator Jim Webb’s amendment affirming Congress’s authority to exercise a 60-day review of VA’s decision to add three presumptive illnesses – namely, Parkinson’s, Hairy Cell Leukemias, and ischemic heart disease -- to conditions linked to Agent Orange exposure during the war in Vietnam will not hold up benefits for these conditions. Va Issues Blue Water
In part: "VA limits the presumption of exposure to Veterans who served on the ground or on the inland waterways of Vietnam and excludes Veterans who served aboard ships operating on Vietnam’s offshore waters. This limitation has been legally upheld by the court system. However, VA has become increasingly aware of evidence showing that some offshore U.S. Navy and Coast Guard ships also operated temporarily on Vietnam’s inland waterways or docked to the shore. Additionally, VA has recently acquired evidence showing that certain ships operated primarily on the inland waterways rather than offshore. Veterans who served aboard these ships qualify for the presumption…

Nehmer And Ao Guam And Johnston Island
I am a blue water vet with no boots on the ground in Vietnam. I just got one of the Nehmer review notices and I wonder if i should add a statement that i have boots on the ground in Guam and Johnston island in 1973 and how i would have been exposed just in case they ever admit that agent orange was used or leaked in both places.(We all know that did happen. Especially Johnston island) The mine sweep i was on pulled into johnston island twice and we stayed over night to do repairs and take on stores, fuel, and fresh water from the islands distillation/reverse Osmosis plant(understand they had both types in 1973).

Graves Disease And
Snakecharmer (veteransinfo.org ) emailed this interesting study on Graves disease and AO: "PARIS — Exposure to Agent Orange, the defoliant used during the Vietnam War, appears to be an important predictor of Graves’ disease in veterans. Results of a study presented here at the International Thyroid Congress showed that Vietnam War-era veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange have three times the prevalence of Graves’ disease compared with unexposed veterans (OR=3.102; 95% CI, 1.56-6.16). http://www.endocrinetoday.com/view.aspx?rid=68470"

Filing Claims For Presumptive Conditions Based On Herbicide Exposure
http://www.vba.va.go...imherbicide.htm On October 13, 2009, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced that three new conditions would be added to the list of diseases presumptively associated with exposure to certain herbicide agents: hairy cell and other B-cell leukemias, Parkinson's disease, and ischemic heart disease. This web site was created to provide general information about filing claims for service connection for these conditions. Please note: The regulation that allows VA to pay compensation for these new conditions has not been finalized. VA will not be making decisions on these claims until the regulation is final and implemented. This site…

Scars
I am a VN vet with heart attack at 43, open heart at 43, multiple angioplasties, stent, stroke, etc before age 50. The open heart was performed in 1991 almost twenty years ago. My question is about the scars that were left from that surgery. I have looked at the VA information on that subject listed under "Skin" and I'm still not sure if those scars are considered compensable. The guidance seems to focus on linear vs nonlinear in shape. The scar from my leg where they removed the vein they used for the bypasses and the scar on my chest meet the size requirments for 20%. Are these scars considered secondary to the IHD I have? I ask this question because the VA docto…

2900-An54 And The Cra
Just got a call from my Congresswoman about an email I sent to her in regards to 2900-AN54 and the CRA. She assured me that there is no way congress will go for a resolution to disapprove the final rule. I asked about when she thought the VA would start payments on this and she said the end of October. She seemed very confident that is a done deal. She has always been a very active veteran advocate in congress and I think her info is reliable.

"trouble Looms"
"TROUBLE LOOMS AS VA ABRUPTLY ISSUES SECOND CONTRACT FOR AGENT ORANGE CLAIMS SYSTEM On Sept. 3, the VA quietly posted a second procurement for the same claims processing system being developed by IBM but with a shortened delivery deadline." Full story at http://www.vawatchdog.org/10/nf10/nfsep10/nf091010-3.htm This gets me- the new system is supposed to be an "automated " one for the new AO claims. The reality is that these claims should be easy to do without automation. If the veteran's exposure to AO is confirmed and they have one of the new presumptives, the only thing left is for a proper rating and award letter. If vets have responded to any letters f…

Anyone Exposed To Ao Have Chronic Sinusitis And/or Nasal Polyps?
Just curious: I've had chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps for over 25 years now...(several removal surgeries)...I was exposed to AO in VN in many areas....I know it hasn't been documented/recognized by VA, but wondering if anyone else out there who was in VN has this problem as well?

I Just Wonder If This Is Possible
A vet who is a vet of Vietnam I am trying to help. If we send in his formal/informal for benefits associated to Agent orange exposure. Will the VA take that claim and send him for an Agent Orange registry exam and then files for all they file related to AO and also any secondary?? This vet has had Dm2 and heart by passes and PN and who knows what else. I know when I went for my Agent Orange exam they just put on the report what I should apply.
