hypertension Ihd Va Definition
Just to bump this up: "According to Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (Harrison's Online, Chapter 237, Ischemic Heart Disease, 2008), IHD is a condition in which there is an inadequate supply of blood and oxygen to a portion of the myocardium; it typically occurs when there is an imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand. Therefore, for purposes of this regulation, the term ``IHD'' includes, but is not limited to, acute, subacute, and old myocardial infarction; atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease including coronary artery disease (including coronary spasm) and coronary bypass surgery; and stable, unstable and Prinzmetal's angin…

Nehmer Ao Vets And Widows
If you were denied in the past for any new AO presumptive and have re opened your claim under the new regs -NVLSP would like to hear from you- I posted this info before but I anticipate the IHD regs will continue to generate many questions in this forum so it pays to get this info current so no one misses it. The info they need and their contact email addy is here: http://www.nvlsp.org/Information/ArticleLibrary/AgentOrange/AO-RevisedAORelatedDiseases0610.htm You will receive within a few days a confirmation similiar to what they sent me: "Dear Ms. Simmons: Thank you for your email. The National Veterans Legal Services Program will ensure that the VA re…

Nehmer Retro
This was mentioned here before at hadit but it pays to mention again- Although the VA has the Nehmer Training letter (written by NVLSP and not the VBA) I would guess many vet reps and advocates do not understand this clause to Nehmer-Paragraph 5, Footnote 1- and it bears repeating as to how this provision works-(Nehmer applies only to claims filed after Sept 24, 1985 -if I find any exception or addendum to that date I will post here-I dont think there are any exceptions but I never guess on Nehmer and re read it often.) I will use example from NVLSP. 1. Vietnam vet files claim for SC for his ulcer on April 1, 1989. 2. VA denies the ulcer claim but the medical…

Vva Ao Primer
All of this info certainly should be here already but Colonel Dan is emailing this link from the VVA out and although I havent gotten through it all yet-it seems very concise: http://www.vva266.org/documents/Primer2010UpdatedJuly.pdf The Thailand C & P bulletin they refer to -as I always remind- was produced directly through efforts by the first A0 Thailand vet ,Kurt Priessman- a hadit member.

diabetes For What It's Worth
My VietNam Vet checked his ebenfits page on the 13th and it stated that his claim for IHD and Diabetes type II was CLOSED. Since he did NOT file a claim that included Diabetes type II, I called to see about the CLOSED status and the diabetes claim. I was told from the call center that the IHD claim has NOT been closed, has no idea why his ebenfits page would say that, probably because it's a new system; but, she would notifify her supervisor. When I asked about the diabetes claim, she said that must have been a typo!! Oh boy. She further went on to say that " the President has requested that these three new presumptive claims be decided within two months" and that we'…

Potential Reps Benefit
This is a potential monetary award to any survivor of a deceased veteran who was also survived by any child or children who received SSA survivors Benefits as well as some children in their own right- as explained in the REPS regulation for any direcvtly service connected death-which could include many widows/widowers claims under the new AO presumptives. The REPS application is at the back of the DIC 21-534 application. "Incurred or aggravated prior to August 13,1981" certainly covers awards for SC deaths of Vietnam vets whose survivors might now fall under the new AO regulations. Under the provisions of section 156 of Public Law 97-377 and 38 C.F.R. § 3.812 (1…

Fever Unknown Origin In Vietnam
When I was in Vietnam I was hospitalized for a couple of weeks for a very high Fever of 104 plus. I was kept under a cold blanket to keep my fever down. I don't remember too much during this time as I was semi-conscious, weak and just sick. There was never a diagnosis for anything and they called it FUO or Fever Unknown Origin. I have tried to read up on this and some doctors have studied it and it could be anything really. One Vet had parasites after all these years that caused some serious problems later in life. Has anyone here had this while they were in Vietnam??? Some also believe it could be related to Agent Orange and it could be the or a cause as I serve…

I Am Really Beginning To Wonder?
I am really beginning to wonder what is up with these IHD awards and money in the bank. Many of the vets if not all that I am reading about filed in Jan. 2010 I also am reading where many vets not just me are concerned because of the fact they filed in Oct. 09 Any comments or explanation?
