Agent Orange
My husband had a C&P exam (15 minutes long) for IHD. Will they order further tests? Stopped by the regional office to get a copy of his last C&P (conducted a year ago) exam and they told us they did not have to release them until they responded to our claim. IS THAT TRUE?? Filed a SF 95 form 7 months ago but have not heard back. We are nearing the 2 year deadline for discoverey of malpractice in a couple of months - Do we need to file a Malpractice suit in Federal Court. Does VA have to respond to our SF 95 in writing or can they never respond? They have sent letters but not lately. I thought if they denied us in writing then we had a certain time…

Parkinson Disease
Just wanted to make sure that other Vietnam Veterans are aware that Parkinsons is also presumptive to agent orange. It is dx code 8004, and the min. rate is 30%. But, what I don't understand is that in the VA's own web-site is says this is a "progressive" disease. It is not going to get better. Will they start us off at 30%, and once it progresses, we might get 40% (after maybe a years wait), and while we wait for the 10% increase it again gets worse, we then put in for another increase, and the beat goes on.................................. If, the Va those that a disease is progressive, why would they not rate this at 100%? Why would they make a veteran go through…

diabetes Question About Proving Exposure
My father passed away in 2007. I have heard stories of widows who successfully received DIC even if their husband had not been awarded VA disability before their death, if they could show exposure through medical records, etc... Well, I have found some letters that Dad wrote that explain how exactly he was exposed to experimental and confidential (at the time.. I don't know about now) toxic chemicals. So far I only know it happened in 1967 (which is when he was stationed in Thailand, but also around the time he might have been doing clandestine missions with Air America), but knowing my dad, he probably has more specific information written down on a paper I am y…

Nehmer Claim Pending
This thread is very much like my case. Sorry if you find this post somewhere else. After I submitted the post as a reply, it didn't show up anywhere I could find, so re posted it as a new topic. Hello all, I was diagnosed in 1988 IHD CAD and became permanently disabled certified by Social Security in 1993. Lost my private medical coverage and need a program to cover the expensive cardiac drugs I need to stay alive. I had told my private cardiologist that I would seek treatment, management, and prescription for my IHD at the VAMC in Syracuse NY because they gave prior treatment to Vietnam Vets under their AO policies. The VA agreed to tr…

Tracking Houston Va Process For My Ao/ihd Claim
I first filed a claim for AO/IHD back in 2008 and it was denied in 2009. Refiled in April 2010 at the Houston VA. So this puts me in the Nehmer class with a EP of 681. The claim sits there in Houston from April 2010. While it sits there with no action, it also stalls my local appeals. I have been waiting since Feb 10,2009 for a local hearing and a DRO review for my oldest NOD. Houston finally schedules a QTC stress test which is cancelled the first time then rescheduled first without telling me and finally getting it right the third time. I submit to the stress test in August, 2010. Then, everything just sits there until Congress finally opens the floodg…

Va Links Brain Cancer To Agent Orange Exposure In Recent Court Decision
It is notoriously difficult for veterans to get their disabilities connected to their military service - even when the connection is apparent. In this unique case, the Department of Veterans Affairs was made to concede a very important connection and gave justice to a struggling widow. Read Full Story

Ihd Nehmer Letter
Hi all, My husband just recieved a nehmer letter in the mail two days ago on 2/13/2011, regarding his IHD claim. I noticed that some people recieved this letter last year. Does this mean his file has reached the top of the pile? We submitted his IHD claim in 10/2009 a few days after we heard the news and before the regs publishing process started, and they put it on remand pending the new regulations. He had his C&P in October 2010. It just seems this process is taking forever, even though we should have been right near the start of the cue, I am seeing success stories from veteran who filed months after us, including some at our VARO..... Any thoug…

Fast Track
Has anyone used the "Fast Track" system? Your thoughts, please. I used it for my Parkinson's Disease, and I like the part were you can upload forms, letters, evidence, etc. and they get it immediately. You would think they could do that for regular claims. But, that might make sense and speed up the claims process, and we can't have that. Papa

Ascom Depot- Storage Of Ao
I was stationed at HHC USA ASCOM Depot from March 1968-March 1969. From March to October 1968 I was assigned to the Quality Assurance Directorate and from October to March 1969 I was the supply sergeant for HHC. As part of my duties at QA on at least two occasions I personnaly inspected damaged barrels of AO at the northern end of the rail line coming into the depot. AO was seen stored in the rear of 2 1/2 ton trucks several times in the vehicles for issue park area which was directly across from my then office about 75 yards or so from the depot headquarters and about the same distance from our living quarters. A friend and I dug in the area of the area near the end o…
