Health Outcomes Not Associated With Exposure To Certain Herbicide
The Federal Register to be published Monday December 27, 2010 will include a VA Notice titled "Health Outcomes Not Associated With Exposure to Certain Herbicide Agents: Veterans and Agent Orange: Update 2008". It's probably not of interest to those veterans who have a disease that's already on the Agent Orange Presumptive List, but it does make the point that: "The determination to not establish a presumption of service connection, based on exposure to herbicides used in the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam era for any other of the diseases, illnesses, or health effects identified in the July 24, 2009, NAS report, does not in any way preclude VA from granting se…

I am rated at 10% for hypertention tied to PTSD and 10% for coronary artery disease tied to PTSD. I filed a seperate claim in 2000 for service conection of CAD tied to Agent Orange, I believe this is a seperate case of Nehmer & IHD tied to agent orange. Was filed again in 2006 2008 Can anyone guide me on what to do to move forward, Thanks RDT

What Are The Steps Used To Work A Claim?
I received a call from the VA Nehmer group this morning 7:30am CST stating "The IHD claim is ready for decision as noted MAP D suspense." Does that mean it has been rated and needs to be signed off on or what? Does anyone know the steps and where this puts me toward the claim being finished? This is for IHD in cinnection with AO under Nehmer. I was originally denied in 2004. I sure am hoping it is good news. The VA C&P states is IHD and so does info from my cardiologist. I have chronic congestive heart failure. mets 3-5 and LVF is 43%. Thanks for any info you can share. Bob

Vietnam Vets With Cml
It is very important that Vets with CML (Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia; Chronic Myloid Leukemia) share our status and information. Please see my posts on the Leukemia and Lymphoma website: http://community.lls.org/thread/8555 This would be a logical site since most of us gravitate here. It is the most useful site to get information about our disease. CML is so rare that most oncologists have never treated a case of CML. Some CML patients drive 200 miles or more to see an onc who has some experience with the disease. The primary "norm" for P+ CML (Philadelphia gene positive -- it is a gene transport in the chromosome in the bone marrow) is MEN in their 50s and 60s. V…

Va Processes First Claims For New Agent Orange Presumptives
Saw this VA press release dated 12/17/10 titled "VA Processes First Claims for New Agent Orange Presumptives" This link leads to it: http://www1.va.gov/o...ase.cfm?id=2022 I'm happy to see the VA cranking out the new presumptive claims because mine has been pending since August 2009 on basis of prostate cancer and hairy cell leukemia. I'm somewhat more hopeful now since having had a C&P exam November 29, 2010, the report for which was signed by the nurse-practitioner the following day, a copy of which I received in the mail this week. I don't expect a decision this month, but maybe January.

Ihd Claim Taking A Long Time
I was denied in 2004 for IHD associated with AO. I filed Nehmer claim 11/2009. I am in Tennessee. I found out it was sent to North Carolina to the Nehmer group. I have been in contact with them by phone several times over the last couple of months and have done IRIS inquiries. All I am told by both is "it is pending"....well I already knew that. I called the DAV that represents me and all they say is "it should have been given to a VSR but looks like it is stalled" They did tell me they have everything they need. I have a copy of my C&P which states IHD as does my personal cardiologist. This should be open and shut. I see people that just filed a few mon…

Vietnam Vets With Cml
It is very important that Vets with CML (Chronic Myloid Leukemia aka Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia) share our status and information. This would be a logical site for that, if any of us can ever get to the approved stage where our posts show up timely, or show up at all. CML is a rare form of Leukemia, and not on the list of presumptive diseases for AO (yet). It is so rare that even a lot of the oncologists many of us see have never before treated a case of CML. Some CML patients drive 200 miles to see an oncologist who has some experience with CML. The biggest "norm" for P+ CML (Philadelphia gene positive -- it is a gene transport in the chromosome in the bone marrow) is …

Nehmer Class Retro Pay For Ao/ihd Effective Date
Hi all, Was rereading the Nehmer Class action concerning my AO/IHD original claim. I am a little confused how the law reads for retro payment dates. Here is the short background summary. Service including in-country Vietnam from 1967-1974 First felt Angina pain in 1994 and became a patient of a heart specialist in Cambridge, Ma. After exhaustive testing was placed on medication and have been every since. (IHD diagnosis of some type, CAD,etc..) Veteran lost private medical coverage and requested care under VA since 1997, first as a 0% SC and later on at 20% SC. Archived VAMC records should have the IHD condition listed. I have not requested the older arc…

Nehmer Review Recommended For
Jim Strickland ,VAWatchdog Today recommends that advocates and vets etc get familiar with the Nehmer regs at: http://www.nvlsp.org/Information/ArticleLibrary/AgentOrange/AO-VABeginsReview.htm There are other articles as to retro etc at the NVLSP site. I check Nehmer regulations often when we get a Nehmer question here as I don't want to rely on my memory regarding this extensive Court Order and Stipulation. The litigation has been condensed at NVLSP web site and the important points to Nehmer are stated in simple terms. If I see a very complex Nehmer question here I can call NVLSP and run it by them. Most Nehmer claims questions however are easy to answer as N…

ptsd Pad Secondary To Ihd
I was first diagnosed with IHD and PAD at the same time back in 1999 and have my claim in for IHD at this time since OCT 2009 with no answer yet. If I am awarded compensation for PTSD is there any chance of claiming PAD as secondary to IHD? My Vascular surgeon says they are basically the same desease just in different locations of the body. I am pretty sure I will be awarded 60% (METS 4.2 and EF at 48%). I have had one MI and 7 stents with 3 leg bypass surgeries plus mamy other heart complications as well. DuRock

Heart And Circulation Issues
My heart doctor indicated that I had the following conditions: Mitral Sclerosis, Enlarged Left Atrium, Diliated Aortic Root, and lack of blood circulation of lower extremities. I have taken an ECHO test during a C&P examination, but have not gotten the results. Could any of this be related to IHD? Papa
