Agent Orange Used Domestically
We live near a large Army post. My elderly neighbors swear that the road crews used to spray AO along the roadsides to keep the vegetation back during the summers - cheaper and longer-lasting than mowing! Mrs. Neighbor said they knew it was AO because they had a relative on the road crew who said the town (maybe county) got it surplus from the Army. She used to holler for the kids to get in the house when the spraying trucks were seen coming down the road. (rural area, dairy farmers). Anyone ever heard this discussed anywhere? It wouldn't affect my family since we didn't live here back then, but I wonder if she could be mistaken about what they were using. FWIW…

hypertension Ihd -Va Definition And
With the hopeful resolve of most AO IHD claims in the next few months-I wanted to get this info posted here again. And to remind all- if their claim comes under Nehmer and they have contacted NVLSP, I have posted the link here many times, please contact NVLSP again to let them know of the decision. "According to Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (Harrison's Online, Chapter 237, Ischemic Heart Disease, 2008), IHD is a condition in which there is an inadequate supply of blood and oxygen to a portion of the myocardium; it typically occurs when there is an imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand. Therefore, for purposes of this regula…

Status Change Fm Decision To Development
Had a cardiologist appointment the other day. Was going to send in the office notes of the Dr. to include in my file (IHD AO) which is currently in decision stage. Called the 1-800 nr. and was told by the rep that if I do that they will take my claim out of decision stage and put it back into development. Does that sound correct? No new info on the office notes just an up to date repeat basically of what has already been said/sent. I decided not to send it in. Just wondering if it was new info and I sent it to them would they take my claim/file out of decision when received and if so when it goes back to decision does it go back to the place in the order it came fr…

Dysphagia Secondary To Parkinsons
I have been having a problem with swollowing, and will undergo a test for Dysphagia next week. I do know that Parkinsons is a cause of Dysphagia, so would they rate this as part of the Parkinsons or would they rate it as secondary, and rate it seperately? If they rate it seperately. what would the rating be, or would I look under the Digestive section to find the rating? Papa

hypertension Ihd And Secondarys
"According to Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine (Harrison's Online, Chapter 237, Ischemic Heart Disease, 2008), IHD is a condition in which there is an inadequate supply of blood and oxygen to a portion of the myocardium; it typically occurs when there is an imbalance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand. Therefore, for purposes of this regulation, the term ``IHD'' includes, but is not limited to, acute, subacute, and old myocardial infarction; atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease including coronary artery disease (including coronary spasm) and coronary bypass surgery; and stable, unstable and Prinzmetal's angina. Since the term refers …

Ao Claim Settled, But What About Reimbursement?
Hi All, My nehmer claim for AO/IHD was granted at 10% with an EED of 2003 I am just curious and so have to ask the question concerning treatment cost paid by veteran for IHD treatment. I have been under VA care for some time now and my Nehmer claim has a EED going back to 2003. So I have been paying for medication and testing since that time from my pocket. Is there any re-imbursement process from the VA or is that money just gone? Any answers greatly appreciated.

Travel Pay Snafu
On Mar 18th, I had an eye exam appointment at the Perry GA Outreach Clinic. Since I am eligible due to A & A pension I filled out and submitted a Request for Travel Pay. The Perry Clinic mails all claims to Carl Vinson VAMC in Dublin GA. As of today this was a month ago. I called Carl Vinson to inquire about the check which I have not received. Found out that the paperwork FROM A MONTH AGO had NOT been processed - no explanation, no apology - just "we pulled your claim out of the stack for processing - you should get your check within 30 days"! Only TWO months after the eye exam appointment ! Our wonderful government at work....

Nehmer Review Criteria
I have seen some misunderstandings of this case as it applies to claims under the new presumptives. Not necessarily misunderstood at this site but it took me time to explain this to a local vet recently and by giving him copy of part of my Nehmer letter I think it helped and maybe I should post that part here too: "This case was identified as a potential Nehmer class member case based on the addition of Ischemic Heart Disease,Parkinson's disease, and B Cell Hairy Cell Leukemia to the list of diseases presumptively associated with exposure to certain herbicide agents used in Vietnam. Entitlement to potential retroactive benefits applies in all cases wherein VA rece…
