  1. count me as one of the veterand who did not get the form to fill out for 2013. i find out today quite by accident they have removed it. i know i can get it back but its a pain. plz help. thank you.
  2. i have learned from a friend at my local clinic that you can request an audit of your c file. thinking about making the request myself.
  3. i became a life member when i got out of the navy in 1988. the vso who represented me during my first medical board helped me to be retained on active duty (what i wanted). my mom chipped in for my life membership. however, in recent years, i have told them several times to go to hell because they don't care about me. don't waste your money.
  4. just to let you know, i am on both (telcare and home health aide). my aide has been coming for years and has always received maximum hours. i applied for aid and attendence 2 years ago. it took the va a year to deny me because i disobeyed a doctors order. i am wheelchair bound (which is plastered all over my medical record). the doc wanted to check my range of motion. i asked for a nurse to help (which i need). doc had a hissie fit and said i disobeyed her order. then the va denied me.
  5. yes, but the VA took my statements (from my caretaker and my best friend, a journalist like myself who had worked with me several years ago and had seen my physical deteroration first hand) into consideration when they adjudicated my IU.
  6. i am going to play devils advocate here. if i understand, you want to apply for IU because of a back condition which prevents you from working. but you aren't service connected for your spine. how would you prevail here, unless i am missing something important. i received IU partly because i am 40 percent for my back and 30 percent for depression/anxiety. i am also wheel chair bound. the ortho who did my c&p ended my exam after 10 minutes saying there was no way i could work. and i also had statements, as well.
  7. my nsc pension was approved in 90 days because i was a candidate to become homeless. my dav vso at the time was a smart man and he told me to write homless all over the application.
  8. no. i had a&a with my pension. when i was found unemployable, i applied for special monthly compensation because of my back and mental health sc issues. i was denied although i have a caretaker provided by the va.
  9. i have had a couple good ones. but the last one i dealt with had the audacity to tell me the va screwed up when they gave me IU. he didn't bother to look at my record or read the evidence when he called and told me that. he's dav and i am finished with them. haven't had a good vso in about 5 years.
  10. i had someone copy my entire navy medical record. and then had the legal officer authenticate it before my medical discharge.
  11. i had similar quotes on mine and got 30 percent. however, one remark on that exam got me c&p exams for IU, which i eventually received.
  12. i would always put stuff in writing and leave a paper trail.
  13. two examples. during an ortho c&p for my IU, the doc apologized for wasting my time as it was obvious to him i couldn't work because of my service connected back issues. on the other hand. when trying to get smc, the doc wrote i disobeyed a direct order to get out of my wheel chair unassisted for a test. obviously, i was denied. however, it states several places in my record i am wheel chair bound!
  14. the shrink who did my mental health c&p wrote basically the same thing about my ability to work got me 30% and deferred IU (which was awarded 4 months later).
  15. i had a claim that was sent from st petersburg to jackson, miss for adjudication because it was an expedited claim. that was 2 years ago.
  16. i did read an article sunday that said the same thing.
  17. cola announcement might be delayed because of govt shutdown. read that friday.
  18. i know what the house voted. i also believe opening a government piecemeal is ignorant. its like a teacher telling his or her class, we have a fire drill but only the a students are allowed out to freedom.
  19. i don't believe the secretary and neither did the house veterans committee. there is evidence out there to suggest he is lying. i believe if congress was convinced there would be no nov 1 checks, they would pass a measure so we can get paid. but if they think he is lying (as i do), nothing will happen. i hope this shutdown proves once and for all what a fraud the VA is.
  20. i have a total disability of 60 percent (40 for my back and 30 for depression). yet, i was awarded unemployability for a few reasons; two doctors said my service connected disabilities would preclude me from working even a sedentary job. but also because of my employment history (news reporter) and the fact i have my bachelors degree. the va conceeded it would be almost impossible to retrain me for something meaningful given those facts.
  21. its guaranteed in the 27th amendment. and you know how hard it would be to overturn that. i agree they shouldn't get paid.
  22. to make a long story short, i ended up with a jewett back brace which is what the orthotist should have ordered the first time. only had to scream a little bit to get it.
