  1. oh i know plenty about the slumlord. he's been my landlord for over 20 years and he never has done anything honest as long as i know him. i mean how long did the cable company putz around knowing he had been stealing their cable for year.
  2. its fraud. i am service connected for my back and have a va issued wheelchair which i use all the time. in fact, i just got a new one about a month ago. my 7 year old chair finally gave out. i have made the details of my back problems known for a long time. my cervical (herniated disc and osteophyte complex), thoracic (severe degenerative disc disease, scoliosis and probably stenosis) and my lumbar: (5 herniated discs, foraminal and spinal stenosis, a grade one slipped vertabrae, 2 torn discs and arthritis). i hurt my back when i fell down 2 flights of stairs while in the army. i have this plus rheumatoid arthritis.
  3. he has ptsd and the back problem. he was a green beret in vietnam. he hurt his back after a parachute jump went bad. he has already had one major back surgery years ago. just makes me mad that his back is so bad he needs a wheelchair but then is still cycling and driving a huge RV across country. i know it should be none of my business. but he's made it a pretty big deal to me about his business.
  4. my landlord has a va issued power scooter plus is receiving IU. his back is suppose to be so bad the va was talking about major surgery and being in a body cast for 18 months. yet he shows up today with a velomobile, which i understand is human powered. i just checked it out and he does in fact have to peddle it to make it go. says his back problem isn't affecting his legs. mine does.
  5. reminds me of the former chief of naval operations who took his own life, reportedly because he presented false information about a medal he didn't earn!
  6. i have had multiple emg's done on my back. and they have all indicated chronic radiculopathy. how are my chances to get service connected for that? even my most recent primary care doc diagnosed me with that just based on some physical exams she gave me. emg's were done years ago.
  7. i will say it again. i have 5 herniated discs, foraminal and apinal stenosis at all 5 of my lumbar discs, a grade one slipped vertebrae, 2 torn discs and arthritis on my last lumbar mri from 2014. i am currently 40 percent for my back.
  8. i know you can amend your dd 214 because i did it. just don't remember how. think berta has the right answer. you do have to include evidence plus the proper form to have the 214 amended.
  9. i disagree. compared to my lumbar mri, his is a cake walk. my guess is maybe 20 percent but probably 10. for the record, i have 5 herniated discs, spinal and foraminal stenosis, a slipped vertabrae, arthritis and 2 torn discs. i'm 40 percent for my back.
  10. the doc who did my depression c&p was very honest and straightforward. and it was reflected in her report too.
  11. gastone, i received a bunch of letters with the IU award that ranged from getting my id card, to getting a special license plate for car, etc. hopefully, he or she will receive same in their packet.
  12. i had a deferred IU claim at 60 percent, 40 for my back and 30 for depression. the shrink who did my depression c&p said my mental health condition would preclude me from working. four months later, i got IU.
  13. copd is chronic obstructive pulminary disease
  14. the ortho doc who did my c&p said my back cdisability was not going to get better, only worse and said it precluded me from working.
  15. having a total service connected disability at 60% (back and depression), the rating board looked at my educational history (college degree), employment history (news reporter) and determined i could not be retrained. they gave me IU but it wasn't determined to be extra schedular.
  16. i am eligible for medicare starting next month. i kept part a but declined part b because i refused to pay the monthly co-pay.
  17. no it happened to me. i was notified of a c&p exam a day before the exam but i never received a letter from the va. i couldn't make it because i am in a wheelchair and i require special transport. that usually requires, at least, 72 hours notice. it took a bit of a haggle but i got it straightened out.
  18. a few years ago, i was rated 30 percent for a secondary depression/anxiety condition from years of chronic back pain.
  19. or because so much of my back is messed up, the va believes my back would be worse with surgery.
  20. this raises an interesting question. is the va now rating the thoracic and lumbar spine as one? from what i have read, it suggests that. i am currently 40 percent for my thoracolumbar spine. but an mri on my lumbar spine last year (spinal stenosis, slipped vertebrae, arthritis, 2 torn disks and 5 bulging discs) might be significant to file a new claim. however, since i have had unemployability since dec 2011, it might not be a good idea to ask for an increase. recommendations? thanks.
  21. good luck with that. i have never had a va doctor agree to do an examination or render a comment know that its for a claim.
