  1. i believe its 40 percent for one disability, like i am 40 percent for my back.
  2. don't know if this will help. i had my first emg in 1992, along with my first lumbar spine mri. the mri showed i had a bulging disc and the emg confirmed radiculopathy. i don't remember when my last emg was. but i had an mri in may 2014, which showed 5 herniated discs, both foraminal and spinal stenosis, a grade one slippage of vertebrae, abnormallordatic curve, 2 torn discs and arthritis. i can braely walk from my living room to my bedroom without pain in my right lower extremity which shoots down my right leg. i start limping real bad and must sit for a few minutes before attempting to walk again.
  3. maybe its just me but allison hickey is a retired air force general. she is also an under secretary at the va. i hope people sending email to her are addressing her by her proper titles. thanks for letting me rant.
  4. on your letter, does it say you are being paid at 100 percent because you are unemployable (like mine says)? or does it say, your combined rating is 100 percent? my combined rating is 60 percent but am being paid at 100 because i am unemployable.
  5. both times i have needed to use the advocate, i have received positive results.
  6. pardon my ignorance but did the emg state you had radiculopathy? i ask because i had several done on both legs and they were positive. in the last year, my primary care doc has opined that i have it as well. no emg's have been done in years. thinking abaout asking for a new one as my condition has worsened.
  7. my understanding is that this is the same as the social security cola increase. the va one has to be approved by congress while the ssa is automatic. r so i think i read. this is not any additionaal monies.
  8. actually the va thought the opposite when awarding me IU. they surmised i was too smart to be retrained. that, coupled with the fact, i am a retired reporter.
  9. my IU was deferred when i was aawrded 30 percent for depression.anxiety!
  10. i just went through this and had to sign a form. but, sorry, i don't remember the number.
  11. two veterans service organizations testified at the house veterans affairs committee hearing last week in addition to the general accounting office and the va.
  12. hasn't this been talked about for years? one of the state va reps at my clinic agrees with you buck!
  13. the first one was for non service connected pension. and the last one was for unemployability. and both were favorable!!
  14. i can't speak to your claim but i had two different claims both approved within 90 days, the last one being 2011.
  15. i was awarded IU at 60 percent and it was considered to meet schedular requirements. one thing noted (and i have mentioned this several times) in their decision was i am a college graduate who held a professional job (journalist) which paid me well. because of that they opined retraining me to anything similar would be fruitless.
  16. the va didn't bump me when i was awarded IU. they kept me at 60 percent, 40 for my back and 30 for my depression.
  17. if you read the last 2 paragraphs of the story, a VA official is quoted as saying those already receiving IU would be grandfathered in if the current schedule requirements changed.
  18. that page doesn't really tell me anything other than they are proposing to remove unemployability. if it hasn't been granted yet, then how can they propose a reduction?
  19. you might be able to apply for radiculopathy if you are having pain radiating down your leg. somebody correct me if i am wrong but in't IVSD rated by prescribed bed rest? and not to sound like a broken record but i am currently 40 percent for my back. i have five herniated discs, two torn discs, spinal and foraminal stenosis, a slipped vertabrae and arthritis.
  20. i'm not sure you are going to get more than 40 percent for your back. but i would file for radiculopathy (spelling?).
