  1. i submitted statements from my best friend (she is also a journalist as was i before i retired) and my va provided nurses aide. both statements were quoted in the raters decision for my IU!
  2. mine was deferred about 4 months before it was awarded!!
  3. my claims are usally rated by the st petersburg varo but had one rated in jackson, missippi last year.
  4. i am 40 percent for my thoracic spine and 30 percent for depression. i was awarded IU back in early december. the ortho doc who did my c&p clearly stated that my back would prevent me from being employed. i also have a shrink who wrote on my c&p that my depression often leads to long periods of social isolation and i couldn't work a sedentary job. i have inflmmatory arthritis beside the afore mentioned back and depression problems which has put me in a wheelchair and receiving hime health care at va expense.
  5. i respectfully have to disagree to an extent. after the va awarded me depression as a secondary to my service connected back disability, they deferred IU and i received it 4 months later. the shrink who did my c&p said it would be near impossible for me to every go back to work even in a sedentary job. i never applied for iu, the va did it for me. maybe, i was the lone rare case but it is factual. and i received iu 4 months after my depression claim was approved.
  6. would love to see a link to this if you have one coot. thanks.
  7. rockman, no more car decals. all branches of service stopped issuing them after 9/11!
  8. i've been to a few c&p exams that were a waste of time. but if you don't go, you run the risk of being denied.
  9. depends on whether you have medical issue (or issues) which warrant smc.
  10. sorry for the confusion. and thanks for the clarification.
  11. i am not receiving pension anymore. i am receiving disability compensation since the va declared me unemployable due to my service connected back issues. because it is well documented that my service connected back issues contribute to the need of a nurses aide (at va expense), i was encouraged to apply for aid and attendence. i also have well documented that i have severe hand issues because of my inflammatory arthritis. as i stated before a combination of my back problems and inflammatory arthritis have left me wheelchair bound (docunmented), unable to work (documented) and in need for the assistance of another person. i still don't get the upper extremity.
  12. thanks, that is what i thought. i'm only applying for special monthly compensation and nothing else.
  13. in late december, i applied for smc aid and attendence because i received it with my pension. its been fairly well documented that both my servie connected back condition and my inflammatory arthritis contribute to several factors including the need for another person to take care of me, the inability for me to work and my status as wheelchair bound. today (saturday) i received my packet of info from regional requesting any addition info plus my statement. it mentioned my request for smc plus loss of use for bilateral upper extremities. the latter is what's confusing as they want documention it is something that i have had since i was in the military. it is well documented in my medical record that inflammatory arthritis has rendered my fingers and hands to be almost useless. however, i don't believe i can document back this to my active duty although i can document my back injuries to be related because i fell down two flights of stairs while in the army. i'm confused because is regional asking for two different things? a few pages later in the packet they ask for documention for the smc 9which i have laready submitted) and documentation for the upper extremities. perhaps they are confused from the statement intially submitted by my county veterans service officer? can someone help un confuse me please? thank you.
  14. i think you would but you should also find out why they deferred. when i was awarded service connection for depression last july, they deferred IU pending medical exams. i had and received the IU about 4 months after they deferred it!
  15. i have had several mri's of my spine over the years. i recently had regular xrays of my entire spine done which showed my degenerative disc disease and my bone spurs.
  16. seriously, i hope this helps speed the process!
  17. i have directv so no dish disease for me basser!
  18. dish disease, is that something you get if there aren't enough suds in your liquid detergent? :-)
  19. with the back, they rate you either on range of motion or doctor ordered bed rest. and the bed rest orders must be in your record.
  20. ketschup, please refrain from using all capital letters. it is the internet version of screaming. thank you. i wish you well with your claim.
