  1. i never had to wait that long for an appointment whether it was gainesville or daytona beach!
  2. are there known cases where the va changed their minds between adjudication and when they send out official letter? it hasn't happened to me.
  3. i'm in florida and knew about the 100% (just got my state id card) but i didn't know about 10%. but then i don't own a home here either. good to know.
  4. right now, in my va file it states i am 60 percent U. if you receive IU, it probably won't list you at 100 percent although you are paid at that rate. it should, however, indicate you are unemployable. all of my current VA correspondence indicates this!
  5. jax although my friend would have been willing to drive to mayport!
  6. good thing i made an appointment to get my id card today. looked like the walk in waiting line was about 2 hours long! did go into the exchange for a bit to look around. can't believe how high their prices have gone. other than everything being tax free, not much benefit to shopping at the NEX or army/air force exchange service!
  7. i am at the mercy of a retired navy friend from church. he goes to jax because he gets his meds there. he might be willing to go to mayport. thanks for the tip!
  8. about a year or so ago, my then primary care doctor told me she would put in a consult so i could get home healthcare and wouldn't need to go to a va facility unless necessary. i liked the idea of doctors and nurses coming to my home. but i told her no because i still wanted the option of leaving my home and going to the clinic. it is, however, still an option.
  9. dang, i got vision care when i was 10%! i am curious about the denatl without being p&t since the criteria listed in federal benefits for veterans says differently? i was able to get one time dental care while drawing my pension because the problem could have threated my weakened immune system. but even then, my primary care doc had to beg the dentist!
  10. it says right there on the fact sheet, you aren't eligible if your 100% is temporary...sorry.
  11. you might try to get a secondary service connection because the ptsd causes you to grind your teeth. my landlord is also 50% ptsd and has the same problem. he has applied but hasn't received a ruling. as to your current situation, i just received IU awarded P&T. when i went to the dental clinic to make my first appointment, the clerk queried the va system. one of the things she was looking for was the permanent and total designation. i mention this because it is my believe you can't get dental if your 100% is temporary. i could also be wrong!
  12. i just made an appointment for next wednesday but i have to go to nas jacksonville, which is now the closest base to me.
  13. that is a good question carlie. i could see it happening. but i will mention that i got my nurses aide (at va expense) partially because of my a&a on my pension and partly because my sc disability had reached 40% at that time.
  14. when daytona va was still doing c&p exams, i had several ortho done by my former ortho doctor. one time the va told me it wasn't a conflict of interest. but after the last exam he gave me, my dav rep told me i had grounds to appeal. problem is that i didn't have enough evidence to warrant an increase even on appeal!
  15. i have had a nurses aide come to my house 4 days a week, 2 hours a day for over 4 years because i had a&a awarded to my nsc pension. my inflammatory arthritis has deformed my hands, my feet and most of the rest of my body. this is in addition to my worsening back condition of which i have spinal stenosis, foraminal stenosis, a slipped vertabrae, bulging discs, osteo arthritis and scoliosis. i was recently awarded iu and today i applied for smc a&a. the program i qualified under is called home health care, i believe.
  16. it took them 6 days after the awarded me IU to deposit the retro check. i am not complaining!
  17. those 5 figure retro checks right before christmas are nice. heck, they are nice any time you receive them!! :-)
  18. i have gone ahead and applied for smc aid and attendance. the county veterans service counselor thought their might be a possibility the va will award without examination since i received a&a with my pension and i have had a home healthcare aide for over 4 years (at va expense) who bathes me, cooks for me, cleans my house and sometimes dresses me. obviously nothing is a slam dunk until the va makes a determination. but if necessary, do you think a detailed statement from my nurses aide is a necessity for this claim? thanks.
