  1. I went into the regional office and filled out some form there they sat me in a room and filled it out for me and I signed it.....Sorry not much help on the form number....But it only took me 15 mins and with-in 2 weeks got the award letter of the changes made... The benefit change isn't much it's basically a Minor child to Adult schoolage child over 18 in my case was roughly 60 dollars...
  2. My benefits increased when my kid turned 18 and was still in high school and that was just last school year.... Mike
  3. I can tell you when I had a VSO doing all my work I got 10% Originally, then at 30% and asked for a NOD and was told by my VSO he didn't advise it, I won and for 20 years I was at 50% because I was afraid to file on fear of losing my 50% now I filed for an increase got a continuation and 10% for a Linked condition and I filed again on my own and So far 90+ days and counting on that claim, but I think the biggest pieces of support I get is from my previous doctor who had been treating me up to one year ago before retiring kept very good records and when I got copies of them show what I am attempting to claim now. I just hope I can continue to prove everything and get results. I may have to ask for an earlier effective date as the record clearly shows YEARS of this condition and the added effects that it causes but I hope they see it and don't make me fight for it, but This is the VA after all Fight you for everything... After all they Deny, Deny, Deny all they can. Thanks to HADIT for the support and great work they do for us and to you all for taking your own fate into your own hands, I truly believe you can do better... Mike
  4. Bad news is I just got an email that states November comp payments may not go out if we are still in Government Shutdown.
  5. Oh BTW: That's how my private insurance found out I have Diabetes. Now I get all kinds of Phone Calls and Material in the mail from my private insurance for the DM....
  6. They go after my insurance for any treatment that is NOT service connected....I usually don't mind because it wipes out my Deductible....
  7. Not really So, If it's their only doc in that field yes it's true, However I have changed PCP's More then once because of the way the treated me. You just need to ask to be assigned a new PCP.
  8. no only SC is protected but % is only protected after holding it for 20 years..
  9. The VA can evaluate ALL your Conditions if they choose Just because you only want one increased if they feel there may have been a significant change on the other they may choose to review that while your in the office.....Then again I got Two new Service Connected Issues I didn't ask for last time because they were observed at the time of the exam. Mike
  10. My Service Rep told me to Just file the FDC and Submit no Evidence let my record at the VA stand for it's self then again I am a 20 Year separated Vet...If the record doesn't stand then we NOD and Submit Private Records...So Far it's worked but the one year retro is for First time filers from what I saw....
  11. Yeah I get the same problem and I am going through the claim's process for it, But mine was after a GB removal and happens from time to time, It get worse with meds, Especially Diabetes Meds Thank god I am on Insulin now and the bouts are not as often, Nothing worse then the Itch or the Rash(s) that the Leakage causes....I filed mine as IBS / Diahreah I will be sure to talk about the leakage as well, I like you don't normally like to talk about it. Mike
  12. They must be busy Here in South Dakota I filled a FDC in May and it was finished in July and I filed another in July and Now I wait to see if the 90 day rule they shoot for here will be good or not....Track Record here is good so far....According to my VSO. I hope you hear something soon.
  13. it's based on what your compensated for....so if va math say's your 40% then your 40% sorry...
  14. Hmmm I would then call administration and ask them to continue you with your private doctor since the clnic isn't accepting, You can take you script from your private doctor to you Primary Care Doctor and ask him to authorize it...that's another option....
  15. Hmmm your 100% the VA treats your SC and NON-SC conditions once you hit 50% without a co-pay, Call and schedule a VA appointment. I do know that you most likely won't get any of the DESIGNER meds that your non-va doctor has you on without going through all the other older cheaper drugs...
  16. Hmm twenty years ago it took me almost four years to get my 50% rating so I can see things being dragged out...stop to think about it, it's easy to get lost in paperwork.
  17. I personally think all 50% and above vets or vets with perminate state issued handicap plaques should get them but still many states don't see it my way, most are 100% and as in my state 100% p&t or smc k award....
  18. I know the VA doesn't hold you responsible for shortfalls or co-payments when it charges insurance.
  19. My mom lives in West Virginia beware you will need to pay high property tax on all vehicles yearly...
  20. You can go to ebonies and open a new claim and half way through it you will see what's rated what. You will have to wait for the Letter for the explanation....
  21. Thanks for the feedback, Sometimes it feels like a uphill battle especially trying to determine if you should file a claim or not. I see a lot of cases out there where people have DMII and want to connect NASH but I am the reverse and so I am like is this something I should proceed with or not.....Thanks again.
  22. actually the vetapp09 can be changed to 10 for say 2010 ectera.....
  23. If you goto goodle and search for this "GERD site:http://www.va.gov/vetapp09" you will find a lot of cases that may help you in this process.
  24. I called my Service Representative and requested info and I got what I was looking for, However he stated that my claim was warded in 95 with an original start of Feb 93with Diagnostic codes 7399 and 7312. But he then stated these codes may or may not be accurate based on todays codes. I am SC 0% with these but since then, I've been told I got DMII w/ PN, Acquired Hemolytic Anima, NASH/NAFLD. I have asked for a Endocrinologist Consult at VA to discuss this with him but should I wait or should I seek an outside doctor as well? I am in the South Dakota area and the VA doctors don't typically like to write up opinions (Actually my PCP told me they are not allowed to) but trying to prep for a FDC after my current FDC finalizes. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks Mike
