  1. Hugs Ruff! I'm running a flag up the flagpole in your honor! WOW, way to go. While its difficult to 'earn' 100% because of health, its important to claim your benefits for the same! Again, the best to ya!, cg (er, next in line?)
  2. The best to ya Betty, sounds and feels like you are right on track to succeed! Cg
  3. Thanks Allan, I have a copy of this but wasnt given this exam for my IU request. Meanwhile I was turned down for IU. Maybe social and industrial survey wasnt necessary or ?? hm. Back to the files for me and the best to Betty! cg
  4. Betty, havent got a 'social functioning exam' yet, but was evaluated for IU w/physical issues. So of course I'm interested because I think that exam may come with 'round' 2. Here some shared thoughts on my exam for physical issues, Doc sure spoke fast when asking how far could I walk 'say a couple of blocks or so without stopping?' Doc said 'you're young, you probably walk around the store shopping for a few hours'. You do enjoy shopping for your family dont you? (Hardly gave me time to think or process what was presented).Expecting my answer quickly I may add. 'Just tell me in your own words...no need to look at those papers...' Doc was 'feeding' me thoughts to respond to. Guess its a docs job, whether I like it or not. Doc tried to get me very comfortable at first and break down barriers. Again docs job. Again, the same reason I would take my husband or a close freind with me whenever possible! Docs have a agenda to meet and me? I have success to get. Yup, if I get a C&P exam again, its my job to stay 'cool' or 'cold' as a patient. I'd have notes regards last time I worked, whats broke down, what I did and why I am so 'broke down' I cant work, or always drive to work, serious impact on my family, or whatever. I want to give the doc a copy of my notes to include in the exam too! (I'm gonna announce handing the letter over in case they are recording the exam for transciptionists!") Don't know if this makes any sense, just sorta helps to get out my thoughts, Best to ya, CG
  5. Yoggie, in my experience there is supposed to be a record of emergency room patient intakes. I am thinking both in servicemembers medical records and the hospital administration records. Also, if you entered the emergency room, dont medics usually record the patients concerns? Did you have anyone with you? Hard to say how things would go missing or why you dont seem to find supporting medical records for your episode.Copied my file, office visit notes, referrals, lab slips and such before discharge, then after my SMRs lightened up a bit, no lab slips even. Must be those pesky lil papers fell out or were discharged too? who knows. Dont know whats normal, not medic here, but usually a test like an ekg is related to an event or concern, dontya think? Guess if you need to validate this event and dont have smr proof maybe try buddy or family letter. (maybe you wrote or called someone about that time?). There are medical events that occured in my days, I got proof as best as possible, then described in writing how it went. Ok, I dont know much, just my experiences and thought I'd least respond with thoughts. Best to ya, cg
  6. Thanks all, I am hoping to keep the muscles strengthened but its hard t say what or when to expect. Could be as soon as a year or who knows? If the vA helps for a year @ 100% thats good. Is that only for VA operations? or civilian operation for sc knee? Nice to know things to prepare in advance. cg
  7. Thanks for the discussion and responses. Im not trying to skirt things, just trying to figure out if I have to be removed from the books at the temp agency. I applied for ssdi and trust me I havent worked since. Best to yall, CG
  8. Was wondering how a knee replacement works? After surgery what can one expect besides some recovery time (don't know how long even, days or months) and if the VA covers for that if sc. Thanks, cg
  9. Have you been examined in a VA primary care clinic? Thats where my depression was discovered with routine screening questions and was given a referral to Behavorial Health Clinic (think Mental Health). After a number of visits, got the correct diagnosis for the depression I have. The more I attended to the clinic, the more bad stuff came out related to my military service. I claimed for depression, took me a few attempts and a few years, but got it approved thanks to Hadit! Oh and I was given 'adjustment disorder' diagnosis with first VA claim at discharge.
  10. Hey Brother Ricky Haaaaaaaaaa! Good for you darlin', you ROCK! Dunno who said 'persistent and patient' but that pretty much describes you,eh? Sincerely, your military sister. cg
  11. Ed, good for you and and I wish you the best. I saw what you shared here and was wondering if you have your medical records from that doctor. Many of us here have learned to get a copy of our private and VA medical records. My doctors maintain medical records for only 7 years. When I returned to the neurologist after 10 years, they said my file was destroyed. The VA seems to maintain medical records for the duration. My thoughts, extensive care also adds support to your claim as well as a recent diagnosis and current care. Also, the doctor may be able to expand upon his remarks if you ask. Good to ya, CG
  12. All right kookie, you rock and I see you have been patient very long about this all. You deserve it all! Did you get dependents benefits too? IF you have dependents, rush and get your paperwork in ASAP. (took near 12 months after decision to get ours) All the best to ya! cg
  13. Husker, do you have a private provider or only the VA. If you have the VA you could ask for your last one or two clinic visit notes. My psych is required to 'authorize' me to get mine. Maybe call ahead for preparation so you can get both the copy of the C&P and clinic visit notes too. Keep in touch and best to ya! Thanks for the smile ;) Larry, are you a politician!? cg
  14. Yogi, thanks for asking this question. I've SOC's list submitted evidence casual and vague. I had a supporting letter from a city agency get listed as 'City letter, xxxx'. The SOC should have listed the subject matter addressed. I also submitted unit letters and we know, Military letters have a 'subject' line and are signed by some one in charge of something. The va listed them as 'extraneous'. Expectin a hearing somewhere in the next century, medical reports will only increase. Meanwhile I've plastered Carlie's advice on my claim prep folder, waiting for DRO. Again, thanks, CG
  15. Is there ever a way to request a SOC or is that against the regulations too? Just a'wanderin here, CG
  16. What good timing, I found a form on myhellthyvet that states if I want access to my va electronic medical records ONLINE of all things, I can get it. The form requires me to have someone at the VA witness if it I am correct (sometimes it does happen!) and then the VA will allow me 24/7 access to my records online from the safety of my home or wherever. Imagine if our paper files could be scanned in, yipee! $64 thousand dollar question; when and if it will occur. Eh, Purple, I agree with ya bout the papers and the exposure of personal information. I too trust only a paper copy, even on the internet, if it involves benefits, money and immediate family - I print it out. Even reminded SIL's BIL to get SMRs copied with his military retirement next year. Best thing I ever done. Prior to discharge I copied all my records and lab slips, etc. After I asked VA for copy of SMRs, so many things were missing, like lab slips and even a few hospitalizations. Yes modernizing records comes at a cost, but like many I learned common sense from the boot camp sergeant - ' it aint over till the paperworks done". Cg
  17. Ron, how long since the DRO issued the denial? Reason I ask, checked on my De Novo to DRO, told by (1-800) the suspense date, was overdue and in red. Few months later, I did the Iris, their reply 'still pending a determination by the Decision Review Officer.' only showing date of my submission. Not sure, but I read that if SOC issued it could move faster. I suspect there are different 'suspense' dates for each DRO response depending. For now relax, reread and relax again. Best to ya, CG'up! the process.
  18. Gotcha. I was wonderin; I dont have a formal statement and was curious. Seeing its sooner or later a person 'may' get ssdi, how does one survive meanwhile? I am stumped. thanks a bunch! cg
  19. What does the ssa look for regards employment while applying for ssdi? An official resignation for tax purposes would be my guess, but I am not sure. SSDI app is in progress so I was just a'wonderin if I fergot something. Thanks, CG
  20. Carlie very true and of course well stated. I called the VA to check the status of my claim, warm hearted 'ol sarge' went from screen to screen discuss this'that, I mentioned my concern with a C&P if I recall he said "I can help ya there darlin" ! Asked my concern, then said he'd add a request for a redo. I said sure, thanks. Claim included a reference to that call 'veteran felt c&p was inaccurate but in our opinion ........ Well that cautioned me about 1-800 so I occasionally check by phone very breif & cautiously but prefer Iris for cya. Got ok vso can tell me just claim status with similar or better info. Havent used snail mail for a while here, another long shot my opinion, VA response being 'we are working your claim' usually rarelly referencing claim 'issue' just VA cya Best to ya CG
  21. Okay, Larry, I'm behind reading posts over the past few weeks. I could have missed something or nothing. However I like forum tools, like 'view new posts', to search for topics and often I forget my last posts and discussions, well then, I just look 'me' up! I guess the bottom line is, I skim 'particular' postings, easier than reading every post. Its easy to see some topics, that at least use a VA 'tag' term to the issue. Best to ya Larry sweetie, keep it simple CG'up!
  22. Good for you! Yay! Best to ya, cg
  23. Thanks Rod for asking the question and Rental for dedication to others! The reason I'm glad Rod asked the question cause after I filed my first claim and recieved my first 'va' visit printout showing my percentages; reflux was listed at 0%. I'll have to look back over my claims, because I dont think its mentioned anywhere else. The va gives me Omperzole for it now along with a few other dandys, including ibuprofen. Ha. cg
  24. So True Ricky, vets probably get the same letter that jstone has, (except for personalization). The letters are 'generic' and don't contain any information regards my claim for overgrown toenails and lower lumbar issues. Okay, no claim in for toenails, but ya know what I mean. smiles, cg
  25. Well, I don't have the fairy dust yet to move this post but I'll try to FLAG a moderator with U-Haul privileges. (..gas prices...!) by posting in the claims forum (first one on the list). Good question, I have heard traveling board can be quite helpful or muddy, depending. I'm not sure as far as decision timing goes and if the new information 'will' be considered, sure hope so. Did you get a registered mail reciept or date stamped copy of what you submitted? Is there something we could help you with like an excerpt of your denied claim or subject? Helps to discuss it here, well at least I've learned that many times over myself. Best to ya, cg
