  1. Yes I was merely checked now & then but just recently got a specialist. So my va and private care has been increased even with meds now. I am getting a IMO thinking I was Ignored for seriously needed care. But Im just a patient, dont know, ya know? Ha. The vcaa letter indicated they need proof of treatment but for many years I only got basic va checkups, no specialist, meds or other care from va or any other doc. Mainly because I believed the va's care was ok. Now the va really up'd the rating and tends to me with meds. So my dilema. Got a claim to correct the EED in, got sent the vcaa letter and want to be succesful to get the EED validated & corrected (10 yr + !!) Thank you Betty Cg (ayup, I'm confused mad anxious & stumped how to proceed)
  2. Got a vcaa note for eed correction for compensation to the original claim. The diagnosis is 'exactly' the same, the regulations state 'exactly' the same - from then to now. Question? Do I have really have to 'show' continued treatment from the original claim date? Va monitored me, that was my care from the first. With my new & correct rating, I now have treatment with med(S) from va and another dr. How the....er, grrr, was I to know I needed meds and more care a long time ago? THanks, this may not make sense, but I'm a'tryin. cg
  3. Thanks for the responses. Getting a second opionion for the meds is my next step. Still ponderin how its going with current new meds. yikes. I wonder bunches, they trying to heal me, maybe, thinning out the herd, reduce disability payments or who knows? cg
  4. VA doc gives health care diagnosis and prescription to a vet. The vet uses the prescriptions readily and for a while, later vet is advised to take one more med because of latest studies for the issue. If the vet doesnt take one more med' does that affect a rating? or is that seen as denial of care? Is probably asked from time to time, I know, but dont recall the answer! thanks CG
  5. Kookie, was your va disability rated at that time or is this a recent % rating on your back? I wonder sometimes the same thing but don't think the VA will backdate without tightly following their regualations, especially previous regulations back to that time period. Good luck on your research for the possiblility. Just a note........... Was told recently by doc to check with eligibility office before getting private care, Even if one has insurance and has contacted/contracted with a private doctor, as explained to me, vets need to ask for what specialists needed. Then the va clinic has 'cannon fodder' to hire that particular specialist at the med center. Of course, without trying this approach, I'd not bring a lit candle to close, it may flame out once mentioned! Ha. Personally I do not know or believe this will work as simply stated here. Again, I was told there is no reason a vet has to wait months to see a specialist and should request 'outside care' as needed. Best of luck and who knows, reimbursement may really be possible! yay. cg.
  6. Danang, do you mean new as in current medical records or new, as in smr records specifically brought to the va's attention? Congggggggratulations, you are in! cg'up!
  7. rsg, 1969! a red letter day! your post left me speechless! wow. Encouraged!!! Oh yes, its fine to be 'paranoid' or cautious! Yikes. Do you have legal counsel to help with the details? As you recieve the details, percentage award and whatnot, certainly you dont want to miss a thing that is DUE you! On a caring note, keep your health in check too! God Bless America and her veterans! CG'up!!
  8. Way to go Larry...and wife.$$$$ (er less taxes!) Safe wishes to your son and his beloved. Now lets see I had a recipe on how to triple ones money.....uh oh,misplaced that and my money, oh well, story of my life! Best to ya, CG
  9. Hurrah, and true, too bad one has to fight to get whats due!! Best to ya, cg
  10. Good luck tk3000, have you ever been recommended for a brace, cane or crutch to protect your sc leg issue before at all, even for a few months? Those notes should help if ya got em. I feel if one has the implants and fixtures you do, 30% is an insult. Although I havent had the extensive rebuild that you have, my other leg and back have suffered for the sc leg w/disability. No mechanical support here, lots of phys therapy tho. Both legs, feet and back are arthritic due to the disability. My next claim for secondary connections is in prep stage. Maybe an IMO could clarify your diagnosis, daily and seasonal needs prior to appealing. Re heartburn, I was prescribed vioxx (stopped taking it) continue to have 'heartburn" and 'reflux', now take omerprisol as prescribed, still have the lil sorta air 'burp's after eating. I have to eat slowly. Not sure if that sounds familiar. Been thinking about claim for GERD. John, ya got me thinking again, thanks! Cg
  11. Rental that was fast work, glad to see it go well for you. Ricky is next I am sure. Just think if we didnt have regional offices, either the wait would be longer for resolution or shorter to dismiss us out. After my letter all was balanced in a few months. Sure was anxious until then tho'!! Best to y'all! cg
  12. wow, Big Papa, reading your email took my breath away. Congratulations on getting whats due. Keep close watch that the numbers work out correctly. Wish you comfort and peace of mind. A deserving veteran getting the right compensation, it was there all the time and you went for it! I could hardly be happier for someone just now, than You! Cg'up!
  13. Thanks Tanker, didn't know this was a new type VA diagnosis and right, this would be 'peacetime' not combat related tbi. Thinking sc while I can, cause I read somewhere symptoms may show up months or years later. (mental illness, alzheimers or parkinsons) Oh well. Again, thanks. cg
  14. Okay, my mind wanders and I been wonderin. Say one incurred a concussion, knocked out and recovers enough to be released next day, recorded in medical records, is that considered a TBI? Treatment at 2 different hospitals, but later released after being 'watched' overnight. Or is a TBI a severe impact that causes a chronic condition, needs followup care, stivitches bandaged, surgery etc? To have the TBI recognized as such, does the vet need ongoing care? or just wait until something occurs that 'reconnects' the injury to a current condition? The dumb question is the one not asked, cg
  15. Tom, all the best to ya. Still keep good notes, just cause when we think its ok; well you know what I mean! You are young, deserve and really need the compensation. Don't know the particulars but sure glad for you. Tax bennies, fishing/hunting, auto, base, medical and insurance, etc..are yours now. Again, CONGRATS!! cg
  16. Hello and welcome to the Hadit family. Thanks to the time I've spent here at Hadit and other research, I've learned to get a copy of a clear diagnosis to submit with any VA disability claim. Good luck and get a copy soonest. Also, if you have dependents add them now to your VA file, there is a form, cant recall the number just now. Compensation for my dependents took near a year. Yes, Halo said it "Self Advocate" is key to being awarded "YOUR' disability benefits. Best to ya, CG
  17. Thanks, Ron, Some of those stats are amazing. Considering this gives the VA a pat number for future monies, the numbers 'seem' to say these are all they are serving this year.(think McD's, over a billion served). I cant imagine why they didnt list the number of cases pending and the true number of VA employees needed to serve the "veteran' population. Nor did they list VA bonus's, maybe the numbers arent so important to their budget. Er,my 2 cents!! Cg
  18. Nice find Berta, you as always are a gem! Where do you get the names of the VARO staff and fax numbers. I searched a bit but missed the boat. cg CHicago VARO ( as of 2007).......
  19. Shmo, Sounds like a familiar report that I have had in the past. Are you sc for lumbar issues? The VA may help you get care, physical therapy or something. Have you had the same reading from a IMO? Not sure if I helped, but I sure hope the doc gives you feedback. I have had xrays, mri's and VA doc doesnt call me afterwards or set up an appointment to discuss the results. I have to search for answers, even though my lumbar issues are sc, I have 2 VA prescription meds and only get pt once a year. Best to ya, cg
  20. Larry congratulations and hold tight to your well AWARD of your benefits! Joy to you, your wife and family. Going fishing is a good thing too! I like to fly fish, think 'A River Runs through it". Again, thanks for your good words and works! Cg'smilin @ ya!
  21. Tbird and all I've read thru the suggestions and can only add my thoughts. YOu are WONDERFUL! Here goes and I hope they make sense: One general forum or a few seperate ones will work for me. I am concerned about how many entry points there are for forums on one page. Times I pull up the discussion forum and search frantically only to find C&p is now on the bottom out of sight on my monitor. So I return the main forum again & again. Also, blushing here, I have larger fonts to protect aging eyes, As a result, the lead page doesnt display all topics until I page down. cg
  22. Hoppy you are so right! Years ago and even recently I did not recieve c&p for some items and wondered why!! At the discretion of the 'adjudicator' :P is a true statement! I learned that the hard way. Again, another reason I am at Hadit with family!! just call me 'proactive and persistant'! CG
  23. Boon, I paged down and saw your post. I dont have answers just questions that may help or not. Wishin' the best for ya. I dont understand if you recently filed for a PTSD claim or its not finished? Do you have a copy of your VA Medical Records and C File? By reading through the Compensation Exam and your medical records, you may be able to figure out why PTSD diagnosis didnt list 'agoraphobia'. If not, Maybe pull the data together, C&P exam and med record, then ask your psych to help you figure it out? Also if your psych told you he listed you as unemployable, do get a copy of that information and apply for IU asap. Need help with IU application? search this site for lessons learned and freindly advice. Good Luck, cg
  24. Good Betty, I am thinking a few things. I am not sure if the VA has assigned you this doc or you are paying outta pocket. First, if hippa paper needs signed, you may want to instantly add the VA/BVA or a trusted relative permission to gain access to your records or visit. Also you could give the doc 'copy' of your medical records (especially if its a slim package) to keep. Also recall most docs nowdays only keep medical records for 7 years, so immediatley get a copy of the exam on paper or cd. (or both!) Best to ya, cg
  25. Hulllooo! Congrats to you. Keep a good file or at least a collection box. Just remember 'Its whats due you." Best to ya, cg
