Hello everyone.

This is not meant towards anyone but only a thought from someone that feels a lot like the lady on Obesity Secondary to PTSD.

I have asked many questions and I felt attacked right off the bat, I still had no answers.However I think that some of you old-timers, not age but experience forget what it's like for the entry level members, It is already quite a feat to try and get your four year bachelors degree in Veterans affairs in a couple of months, it a all confusing expedition to try to accomplish this when you are depressed, confused, troubled with worry about family, money, house, eating and you get to a point where you realize that (my situation) your old, fat, broke, no relationships that you can use to mediate your feelings with, and nothing fun in your life, you feel like you have lost out and there is no way to go back, So for me,

To feel vindicated is my expedition to try and accomplish.I looked in a mirror about 5 years ago and now What happen to the last 40 years. someone stole them !When some of us start this asinine endeavor the government has established, just plain simple answers is all we want, or just where to look for them,

After all Most of you are on here to learn or just help someone else and this tells me you are also needing something in your life to satisfy your void.

Just my thoughts nothing more.

I agree with Wings. Also, I know just how you feel. The "system" can be confusing, especially when your fighting a demon disguised as PTSD. Hang in there. Best wishes coming your way.

What Is VA Disability Compensation?

Disability compensation is a benefit paid to a veteran because of injuries or diseases that happened while on active duty, or were made worse by active military service. It is also paid to certain veterans disabled from VA health care. The benefits are tax-free.

You may be eligible for disability compensation if you have a service-related disability and you were discharged under other than dishonorable conditions

Landsend was discharged with a LTH discharge but he can still get VA benefits. He needs to apply for benefits and let the VA decide if they will grant the benefit. That is step one to force the VA to make a determination about his right to benefits. To go through process of officially getting his discharge reviewed by BCMR is a hell of a process. After 40 years they have to make a determination as to if it will advance justice to make an exception and disregard the 15 year rule. Then a bunch of lifers will review his discharge. What do you think the outcome will be? They did not do this in my case and I was asking for a change in my discharge from honorable to medical. They took my appeal and kicked it so far it has not landed yet and I was a war veteran who was also a disabled veteran. They laughed at me because I did not have a lawyer. If I win my CUE I will have a lawyer next time.

Landend, After looking at your previous topics and posts, I do feel these folks gave you excellent advice.

Please take into consideration that the questions asked here are based on the information provided by the requestor.

The quality of information being requested equals the quality of information that is delivered by responses.

Remember the first thing the VA does with a claim is to determine Character of service. I do understand your issues. I feel you have a case to get the Discharge upgraded. Remember back in the 70's the Military Knew Little about PTSD issues and we were expected grind it out and not to complain. Since then the whole enchilada has changed but Vets are still faced with the Discharge and the Old Personality Disorder.

I know a person who was in a sutiation almost mirroring yours and with help from Docs at the VA and the Legion, He won his claim and upgraded his discharge.
