New Beginning Registering For Va Mental Health Ptsd Mdd Psychotic Features

Question

Well today I called the Va to start mental health treatment. I was informed that I needed to register with patient services. So either today or tomorrow I will go to the mental health clinic to begin treatment. So after I go down there and see if I can be seen and helped I will update the results. Prozac seems to only help me be more social. It does nothing for my violent side. So I plan to stay in treatment until I get this mental situation under control.

Ok. I'm up to 5 prazosin at bedtime. I'm still having crazy stupid emotional nightmares. It worked at first. But they appear to be a placebo!!!!!! All the side affects from that serequel seem to have left me. Thank you God. My whole inside of my mouth was in pain. Yes my entire tongue. Also my whole right side was in pain. My hands are still jittery and my breathing isn't the best. I'm also feeling nausea and headaches every day. So this is where I'm at in my road to sanity.

Well yesterday I got a letter from the va healthcare system. They have put me in a non-combat PTSD support group. Hopefully this group help me out. Truthly I don't know how it's gonna help the horrendous things I see when I close my eyes are when I'm in the dark. I will not say what I see but it's not good. So I don't know. My head is still hurting. Also I keep seeing things out the corner of my eye that's definitely not there when I turn my head. Hallucinations has become a part of my reality. So when I see things I really don't know if I'm really seeing what I'm seeing. Right now I'm hearing a low thump. I don't know if it's my ears from tinnitus hearing a heartbeat I had that before are if it's outside or actually a part of my imagination. I still have not received my veteran identification card. They keep having o resubmit it. I don't know. Also I have been feeling nauseous also almost at least once a day. My head feel like its going to pop.

If you get to feeling homocidal or suicidal check yourself into the VA. This does not show weakness. It shows you are acting responsible. If you hurt someone else you are screwed. The VA won't help you and the justice system sure won't help you. If you hurt yourself they will just write you off as another vet bites the dust and "oh, why did he do that?" "We take such good care of our vets".

If you get to feeling homocidal or suicidal check yourself into the VA. This does not show weakness. It shows you are acting responsible. If you hurt someone else you are screwed. Thanx I'm really trying. I think it's all these MEDS I'm taking. I don't know. But I realized I gotta stay in the house until I get myself under control.

82nd. I hope that you have a great day today. I know it is hard having all the racing thoughts. i found something that maybe helpful to you.

kinda simple, but it sounds crazy.

when your mind is thinking crazy thoughts, and they are louder than you want them to be, tell them to get louder.

The thoughts are involuntary. You can't control if you have them or not.. so..... If you turn it into a Voluntary action by telling your brain, "Get louder you SOB". then your throughs will no longer be involuntary. This allows you to have the control.

I learned this from a friend that told me how to stop hiccuping. Hiccuping is involuntary, so if you get them, tell yourself to start hiccuping, and they will stop. At least they do for me.

      Service Connection

      Frost v. Shulkin (2017)
      This case established that for secondary service connection claims, the primary service-connected disability does not need to be service-connected or diagnosed at the time the secondary condition is incurred 1. This allows veterans to potentially receive secondary service connection for conditions that developed before their primary condition was officially service-connected. 

      Saunders v. Wilkie (2018)
      The Federal Circuit ruled that pain alone, without an accompanying diagnosed condition, can constitute a disability for VA compensation purposes if it results in functional impairment 1. This overturned previous precedent that required an underlying pathology for pain to be considered a disability.

      Effective Dates

      Martinez v. McDonough (2023)
      This case dealt with the denial of an earlier effective date for a total disability rating based on individual unemployability (TDIU) 2. It addressed issues around the validity of appeal withdrawals and the consideration of cognitive impairment in such decisions.

    • I met with a VSO today at my VA Hospital who was very knowledgeable and very helpful.  We decided I should submit a few new claims which we did.  He told me that he didn't need copies of my military records that showed my sick call notations related to any of the claims.  He said that the VA now has entire military medical record on file and would find the record(s) in their own file.  It seemed odd to me as my service dates back to  1981 and spans 34 years through my retirement in 2015.  It sure seemed to make more sense for me to give him copies of my military medical record pages that document the injuries as I'd already had them with me.  He didn't want my copies.  Anyone have any information on this.  Much thanks in advance.

      This has to be MEDICALLY Documented in your records:

      Current Diagnosis.   (No diagnosis, no Service Connection.)

      In-Service Event or Aggravation.
      Nexus (link- cause and effect- connection) or Doctor’s Statement close to: “The Veteran’s (current diagnosis) is at least as likely due to x Event in military service”

    • VA has gotten away with (mis) interpreting their  ambigious, , vague regulations, then enforcing them willy nilly never in Veterans favor.  

      They justify all this to congress by calling themselves a "pro claimant Veteran friendly organization" who grants the benefit of the doubt to Veterans.  

      This is not true, 

      Proof:  

          About 80-90 percent of Veterans are initially denied by VA, pushing us into a massive backlog of appeals, or worse, sending impoverished Veterans "to the homeless streets" because  when they cant work, they can not keep their home.  I was one of those Veterans who they denied for a bogus reason:  "Its been too long since military service".  This is bogus because its not one of the criteria for service connection, but simply made up by VA.  And, I was a homeless Vet, albeit a short time,  mostly due to the kindness of strangers and friends. 

          Hadit would not be necessary if, indeed, VA gave Veterans the benefit of the doubt, and processed our claims efficiently and paid us promptly.  The VA is broken. 

          A huge percentage (nearly 100 percent) of Veterans who do get 100 percent, do so only after lengthy appeals.  I have answered questions for thousands of Veterans, and can only name ONE person who got their benefits correct on the first Regional Office decision.  All of the rest of us pretty much had lengthy frustrating appeals, mostly having to appeal multiple multiple times like I did. 

          I wish I know how VA gets away with lying to congress about how "VA is a claimant friendly system, where the Veteran is given the benefit of the doubt".   Then how come so many Veterans are homeless, and how come 22 Veterans take their life each day?  Va likes to blame the Veterans, not their system.
