IU and SSDI

Rate this question

Question

I was just rated 70% for PTSD bringing my total disability to 90%.  I have worked very part-time as a bus driver but have been let go due to the meds I'm on and my PTSD.  I am planning on applying for IU and SSDI.  Is there one I should be applying for first or can they be applied for at the same time?   Any thoughts and comments are very much appreciated!

Is your PTSD the main cause of your IU Rating? What is the CSC % of your non-IU SCs, at or near 60%? How about posting a redacted copy of your IU Award?

There's been talk here on Hadit, I haven't seen any success stories yet, of filing for SMC S (1) "Statutory Housebound," based on a single issue IU SC.

Let's say your PTSD or other Single cause of your IU is 50,60 or 70%. The IU Award not only makes that single SC the qualifier for 100% Comp but also makes you eligible for the SMC S (1) Award ($342 per mos) if your other non-IU SCs when combined using VA Math reach the necessary 60% SC.

I received Statutory HB based on a single 70% IU issue and then additional and separate ratings of over 80% that came later.  With the VA anything is possible just depending on how hard you want to work for it.  Since get TDIU P&T I have filed 8 claims.  No negative consequences.  I have 70% IU and 60% CAD, 20% DMII and four 10% claims for PN in all four limbs.  If you have a legitimate claim the file it if it will help the bottom line.

I got ssdi with a 70% va rating.  I found ssdi to be a much easier process than the VA

Did you use any IMOs at all or get a voc assessment done at all? My age being in my thirties is my only downfall for SSA

SSDI is a breeze because they use all of the VA"s records with a health-care provider's compassion. SSA is Vet friendly imo, since they can see the VA records (that you can't see) on how screwed up we really are.

If you have 2 - 100% VA ratings, you deserve SSDI. Just talk to your SSA counselor.

Peace.
