ptsd Gun Bill Not Anti-veteran By Larry Scott
VA NEWS FLASH from Larry Scott at VA Watchdog dot Org -- 10-01-2007 #1 GUN BILL NOT ANTI-VETERAN -- Let's use some common sense instead of nonsense about H.R. 2640. If you're a veteran or you have been diagnosed with PTSD, don't worry, they aren't coming for your firearms. The Managing Editor of Military.com asked me to write this article about H.R. 2640. This legislation has been falsely portrayed as anti-veteran. Plainly and simply, it has nothing to do with veterans and will NOT bar anyone with a diagnosis of PTSD from purchasing firearms and ammo. I have read all the arguments against H.R. 2640. They are erroneous and la…

Early Medical Discharge
Hi! I had a vet move in across from me and he says he didn't know he had cancer when he enlisted. At some point he had a complete induction medical exam. Several months later while in boot camp the military discharge him on medical grounds of cancer. The VA claims even though he had the exam, the short time period served is not enough for benefits or connection. Ever hear of a vet being denied after having passed an induction exam and serving in the military? The VA has got the guy believing he has nothing coming, even though he served for a short while.

Va Vocational Rehabilitation Program
Hi I am wondering if anyone knows the details of the VA voc program? I know you have to be 10% disabled at least. I have bad generalized/social anxiety, right now the VA has me only rated at 10%, but I filed an appeal to that. I only worked two weeks in over a year and a half. I find it really hard to find a suitible job that I can do because of my anxiety. How long will they train or help you? What do they pay for? I also read something about a self employment option under the five track programs, if anyone has any info on what that intales, could you please let me know? How long will they let you go to college to obtain skills? I asked my VA shrink abo…

Purple Heart
I was wounded in Viet Nam in the 60's. Since my medical records could not be located I did not receive the Purple Heart. However I got a copy of my C files today and there are my medical records indicating my injuries from a satchel charge with powder burns to the face and eyes. The 67th Evac Hospital is stamped on the record along with a Captain's signature on both pages. Is this good enough to get me the Purple Heart and if so what do I need to do? Thanks, Ruffcreek

Audie Murphy Vamc
"The report by the VA's Inspector General is critical of the care given in the intensive care unit here at Audie Murphy. It was triggered by complaints from the VA's own staff members, and the families of three unnamed veterans who died in the surgical intensive care unit in 2006." from :http://www.vawatchdog.org/08/nf08/nfJAN08/nf011008-4.htm

Is This The Wave Of What Will Be?
*Please note that DAVs MUST HAVE A COMBINED RATING OF 100% TO BE ELIGIBLE. DAVs receiving 100% because of unemployable status but whose combined rating falls below 100% are NOT eligible. No exceptions will be made. In order for dependents to receive an ID card the sponsor must be present, if not, the dependent must meet one of the following conditions: wanted an ID for my wife and this is what was said... well seems like not everyone thinks 70% and IU PT is the same as 100% dont know why they are being such As? holes about this

tdiu What Is The Next Step?
hello all, i need help. i think i have an excellent claim for TDIU. My stats should be on my profile and signature. i wanted to send what i had to my service officer for the DAV at the Detroit VAMC. I have been unable to reach him. no answer and no way to leave a message. the Detroit Regional Office is just a few blocks from the the VA hospital downtown. how do i start the process to claim TDIU? should i take all info to the RO in Detroit?
