Veterans Affairs Iris Site Much Much More Helpful.
I have been calling 800# on my ongoing Claims That I have on file since March 2005. Never get any help so yesterday I went to VA site and used their Contact us page. MY POST Dear Sir/Madam: This is about the fifth time inquiring about my claim on file. The claim was filed March 2005. I am aware that there is a severe backlog but I am in a very bad financial time right now. I have been told that my appeal is awaiting input from the SSA. If this is the case I would rather that my Appeal case wait until the outcome of my ALJ hearing that I have been told will be in August 2006. My new claims mostly i am j…

tdiu Bilateral Factor
If I was given SC 10% for each leg and each arm how much more would I get if the bilateral factor were taken into account. I was given separate 10% awards for all limbs based on peripheral neuropathy. I am 80% TDIU so I did not really get excited about getting a few more percentage points.

Information Security
Since the theft of the VA data I have been checking with various banks and investment accounts that I have and have found out that most have very little security. I know have a password for my bank so that if anyone comes into the bank pretending to be me they have to know my password. I did this for my IRA as well. If someone calls my IRA company they have to have a PW before the customer service will talk to them. I also have a industrial strength shredder.

Knee Replacement
Good day fellow Vets. I am an 80% disabled veteran. One of my injuries is a knee that was shattered and never the same. The ortho doctor wants to do a knee replacement. I just would like to know, when they do this knee replacement will they lower my disability? I also heard that after surgery, your disability is temporally increased for a year. Is this also true? Thank you for your help. Tom SS-566 meggi@rochester.rr.com

tinnitus Letter From Varo Ref. Bilateral Tinnitus Separate Ratings For Each Ear
I don't think we need to respond to this, but what do you think? We filed for a 10% x 2 rating for bilateral tinnitus, an increase from the flat 10% rating already awarded several years ago. We did this to go on record in the event the Federal Circuit Court hearing later this year upholds the recent decisions made along these lines by the Court of Veterans Appeals. The VARO sent my husband a letter stating that at the present time, the regulations do not allow for multiple ratings for bilateral tinnitus, and that currently the maximum rating is 10% (which we all know). It goes on to state that should the regulations change, the VA will review the claim. I interpret…

Your Credit And Identity Is Never Safe
Hi all: When you put a "fraud alert" on your credit report, it is only a statement on your credit report that alerts a creditor to call you before issuing credit. The problem is that creditors are NOT required by law to call you. When you buy a package from a credit bureau that includes "alerts to changes in your credit report", you are finding out AFTER a thief has USED your credit. What I am saying here is that there are no laws and no amount of money paid to credit bureaus that can stop an identity thief from profiting off of your good credit. Therefore, the only true safeguard for our credit is for the Department of Veterans Affairs to make misuse or mi…

Va Theft
According to CBS news tonight in an interview with cardcops.com, there has been a 158% increase in SS indentity theft since the first of May. The FBI has been notified about this and they are supposedly going to look into this, even though it appears the FBI doesn't think that the two are connected at this time. Didn't want to pass on this type of information, but it looks as though we are going to have to look after ourselves more and rely less on the government to inform us. mssoup1

Hearing Test
I had a VA hearing test today. I am not as bad as my wife thought. It seems that would be a very easy test to fake. I had nothing to gain or lose. I have mild hearing loss in the upper range.
