ptsd Ssdi Was Granted In 37 Days!
I turned 62 on 09/28/11. I went into the Social Security office and filed on 09/02/11. I filed for SSDI and also for regular social security at the same time. This way I figured that I would receive the regular retirement while I would have to wait for SSDI. I got a letter dated 10/10/11 stating that I would receive payment on or after 10/16/11 for SSDI. It was in our bank account a day or two after we got the letter and well before the 16th!! This is what I took in with me on my 09/02/11 visit. I did not want to file it online, for I wanted them to have as many medical records as they could right then. I carried in the following: (1) I listed all doctors (non-VA &…

Va Doctor Refused To Fill Out Physical Capacity Function Report For Ssdi
My medical doctor refused to fill out my physical capacity function report that my lawyer requested for SSDI. Don't VA doctors have a duty to assist in these matters? I remember reading once upon a time that they are *required* to assist veteran's by filling out these forms for other agencies, particularly Social Security. Can someone cite the regulation for me or tell me I'm wrong? My shrink didn't seem to have any problem filling it out but my PCP is being a....well, I'll leave the expletives out. Even more frustrating is that this is not the first issue she has refused to help me with that was not directly connected to the VA. Thanks in advance, Pete

ptsd Should I File For Ssdi Again? Got Tdiu Since Ss Denied Me...
I filed for SSDI back in May of 2010 and was denied. I filed based on all my problems including PTSD, meaning that I included my feet and knee pain. I was denied because they said my last date of work was too long ago (1998). I was going to appeal, talked to a couple lawyers who said they would help, but PTSD is my commander-in-chief and no action was taken by me. I put it off and put it away. Too much stress. Now, my sweet DH (who is probably trying to generate fusses to divert our attention from his upcoming Comp & Pen for PTSD, bless him, my love) says I need to reapply. He thinks the fact that I have been rated 70% for PTSD and then got TDIU after my SSD…

Getting Ss, Not Getting Ss
The day before yesterday, I called the SS office to ask how they got the effective date of May 2011. The SS person said he would need to contact his "Tech Advisor" for clarification. I knew that I would never hear back from him. "Tech Advisor means, "I do not have a clue". Yesterday, I talked to a very nice Lady, and ask her the same thing. She said it really did not matter since I was not going to receive any money. She said read the second paragraph. It had to do with the Government workers off-set. I told her that I did not think that I would get any money due to the off-set, but told her to read paragraph 4 of the letter that stated that I would get $164.80…

Call From Local Social Security Office
I received a call late yesterday from the local social security office that was somewhat strange. I retired from civil service back in July 2010. My wife has been on SSD for a number of years. What this Lady was telling was that they made a mistake when they were working my off-set. That they should have applied me under my wife's social security, but failed to do so. I paid my military time back, and all that has been recovered. I draw a small SS check from a side line business that I had, but do not understand why they are doing this now. Is it just to clear up their paperwork, or will I see some benefits from it? Papa

diabetes I Don't Qualify For Ssi
I applied or SSI or tried to apply but was turned down because I haven't worked in over 12 years. Now that I'm 62. I applied retirement, Social Security, but I also have a claim for unemployability with the VA. I am 70% PTSD, 20% diabetes, 10% in each leg for neuropathy and 10% for tendinitis, which makes a total off 80%. When I applied for Social Security retirement. The man stated that I said the reason I didn't apply for SSI that I was not disabled. Have been trying to contact the Social Security office to see if this can be changed. I hope that this does not affect my application for disability with the VA.. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. My claim has…

ptsd Should I Send Copy To Va As Evidence Or Just Keep Waiting?
Hello All, Thanks for viewing my post. Here's my situation...Spoke with the DDS today and it appears they have decided in my favor. She's sending the papers to the local field office and expects me to get "official notification" by early next week. That's amazing news but I think I'll hold off on any celebrating until I actually see it in writing. My claim with the VA is for an increased rating for PTSD, an initial rating for TBI, and an initial claim for TDIU. Ebenefits shows it in the "Review of Evidence" phase where its been since December 12, 2011. All my C&P exams and evidence is showing as received and I have nothing to add - just waiting for a decision. …

ptsd Should I Apply
OK I got a notice that I should start another topic. Sorry wasn't trying to hi jack the other one. I am 50% disable and will be 64 this June, I would like the opinion(s) of other Vet as what I should do. I am retired from the Govt.work force GS10 under the old retirement sysytem CSRS. My SS check is small since the Govt takes more than 50% back under the Windfall Tax clause. In my career in the govt I never paid into SS, but my other jobs I had I did and that is why I am able to draw SS. So should I file for SSD since I am 50% or just wait and see if I get more rate increase under PTSD which I am in group session for now. And will see my srink Dr in May.
