This is a picture the military has never let anyone see until now. This is a picture behind the scenes at Dover Air Force Base where the bodies of fallen soldiers are prepared for burial. And that includes being properly dressed, all the way down to the smallest detail. In this picture Staff Sgt. Miguel Deynes is making sure the uniform is just right for an army pilot recently killed in Afghanistan. There is a very specific process once a fallen soldier is returned home. The bodies are flown back to the U.S. on a cargo jet. A team of service members wearing white gloves carries the coffins, covered with flags, to a white van that takes them to the Armed Forces M…

Raleigh, N.C. One of six U.S. service members killed when a helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan Tuesday was originally from Johnston County. U.S. defense officials have not released the identities of those who died when the Black Hawk UH-60 went down in the remote district of Shajau, but a source tells WRAL News that Chris Bohler, an Army helicopter crew chief from Willow Spring, was among the victims. The crash is under investigation, but according to initial reports to The Associated Press, the troops had mechanical problems and came under fire after the crash. It was unclear whether any of the casualties were the result of enemy fire. Family members of Boh…

The loss of Testvet hit us pretty hard. The ones that knew him knew that he was a fierce advocate. Mike Bailey was more than just a Hadit Member, He also was a long time VBN member. His advice over the years earned the respect of not only the thousands of members of Hadit, but the membership of VBN as well. Testvet did a series of SVR interviews with the SVR Broadcast crew both before and after SVR's partnership with Hadit. Jerrel and I plan to designate one day this coming week to make it Michael G Bailey (Testvet) Day. We will loop all of these shows the entire day in rememberance of our dear departed friend. Once we are done, We have asked the Producer to take t…

When I first discovered hadit in '07. I was at a loss as to how to proceed and honestly if I wanted to go forward with fighting the VA. It was at that moment that I read some of Testvets post. It inspired me to keep up the fight. Its with a heavy heart that I thank this tireless veteran for all that he has done. He along with a few of the elders are the reason I'm 100% service connected today. Thank you Mike my you rest in peace. My condolences go out to the family and the broad numbers of vets he's touched along the way. Thank you sir and God bless. /doc

"Iraq war vet who fought ‘Don’t Ask’ dies in car accident August 30, 2013 A gay veteran of the Iraq war who fought against “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” has died in a car accident in Pittsford, N.Y. Darren Manzella, who came out as gay in 2007 while serving in the Army during an interview on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” died on Thursday at the scene of the crash. He had just turned 36 on Aug. 8. Steve Ralls, the former spokesperson for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network who handled his public relations at the time, said openly gay troops currently serving around the world today are able to do so, in part, because of Darren’s sacrifice. “Darren knew he would be discharge…
