Effective Date After Finding Old Military Records
Hello fellow vets! I was Airborne throughout my time in the Army. I foolishly drove on through the pain and rarely went to sick call so I had very little information in my medical records. I filed for both knees in 2010 and was denied and CLOSED. After the passing of my grandmother, we were going through some boxes and I found some old army papers. In them was my Jump Log with all my military jumps recorded. I actually took that to my doctor and he wrote a nexus letter for me. I filed the claim and this is what the decision letter stated: Left Knee 40% limitation of extension 30% instability 20% subluxation Ri…

What's an appeals coach?
What exactly is an appeals coach? I'm waiting on 2 decisions and a remand. Basically I haven't worked in a month and looks like it's going to be continuing possibly that way because of covid-19. I got an email today saying that an appeals coach is going to try and get to my file today. Is an appeals coach someone who does ratings and figures out back pay and all that?

Nexus letter and evidence
Thanks to all of you for answering all my questions, but I have yet another one. I was told by DAV when I have my doctor write my new nexus letter he should quote medical information sources to support it, which is correct. However, DAV also said that you should not quote BVA decisions anywhere in the claim, to include the nexus letter. I feel like this is probably not true, since a BVA decisions are basically case law, and there are plenty of previous decision that would support my claim. Am I correct?

VA methodology for rating TBI
Hello All! I know it has been a hot minute since I have been on but I am still alive and kicking (Hooray for me!). I do have a question however. I am looking over a friends claim and I was wondering about the VA's method for rating TBI. Specifically I understand that the TBI is rated under 10 (?) categories sort of? I would appreciate a really good reference and perhaps a couple good example VBA filings for reference. I have been out of the scrum for so long that I don't want my lack of recent experience to hinder his claim ya know? Also, maybe a reference for how the rater is supposed to specifically approach the claim and what they are supposed to sho…

Remand???
Sorry to keep asking questions and thanks to everyone who has responded to my questions. Is a remand to the director of compensation for extraschedular rating rare? All I find is stuff about being remanded to RO. I haven't found much about remands going to the director which is what mine is. I know I'm in for a long fight but I was just curious about this

Supplemental Claim Denied w/IMO, High-Level Review Next?
Hi All To make a long story short, last year the VA granted my right-knee tendinitis 10% but said my left-knee was NOT service connected. I reached out and obtained an IMO from Dr. Anaise whose IMO opined that either my left-knee tendinitis WAS service connected or that it was secondary to my service connected right-knee. I filed a supplemental claim at the end of June and just received the decision back that they stuck with the original decision to not grant me anything for my left-knee tendinitis, stating that it was still not service connected. How should I go about the next step in the process? I seem to read a lot that High-Level Reviews are a waste …

Supplemental claim documents
I received a letter from the VA asking me to upload documents online for my supplemental claim. I am familiar with doing this, however, I can't figure out why it won't let me upload the documents? It doesn't even give me that option. I've tried multiple times to get an answer from the Va but just keep getting jerked around. Suggestions?

Appeal closed and granted and no decision letter
I had an appeal close on January 8th 2020. According to va.gov and it said granted and closed and overturned original decision My VSO says it is still open and the narrative is written saying I was granted 20 percent back and 10 percent left leg radiculopathy but they havent calculated back pay. I am at 80% now and this granted appeal will put me at 90%. I am concerned that I havent received a decision letter because I have an expedited TDIU claim in process. What are the odds that they will not include my back injur on the TDIU claim. I did list it as SC on my TDIU claim because of my VSO saying it is pretty much granted.

Proposed reduction of disability rating
Hi! I received my decision letter from my last review. I spent just over 5 minutes with the psychologist for my exam. I’ve been rated at 100% since 1 Feb 2010. They said my mental health has shown improvement and reduced my rating. I’ve been on the max dose of anti-depressants for 8 years, I tried taking 3 college courses last year and had to drop 2 because it was overwhelming, I am dealing with not only what I was rated for when I retired but have additional diagnoses of gastroparesis, Narcolepsy, pudendal neuralgia, loss of bladder and bowel control and anger issues which are all service connected. I just never bothered creating a new claim as I was already 100%, thou…

Need advise on manic depression reactive, anxiety and headaches claim
I filed my first VA claim back in November for Manic depression, anxiety, headaches, tbi, thoromcolumbar (back pain), ridiculopathy (sciata), tinnitis, and hearing loss. I received a total service connected rating of 40% for the back pain, sciatica, tinnitis and hearing loss but the depression, anxiety, headaches and tbi were all given "not service connected." I have a diagnosis and receive treatment from VA doctor and medication for the depression, anxiety and headaches but VA did not order a C&P exam for those conditions. My formal Decision letter states that the evidence doesn't support service connection but I don't know what they used as evidence. How do I go…

Filing a new claim before remand is settled...
It's been a little over 2 years since the judge remanded my husband's claim for IU. In the meantime, he continues to decline. He is a gulf war veteran and has many of the presumptives. He filed for these a few years back and was denied. If we file again, will this hold up the remand further?

LHI
So I got a letter from LHI today about my HLR sleep apnea. They are giving me an IMO of a doctor to review all of my military records and VA records and give their opinion about my sleep apnea. I have never seen this before. I thought they only did C&P exams to cover their ass about doing an exam to some degree. Anyway has anyone had one of these? Can they be favorable?
