Questions About Dic?
I am trying to find out if my suspicions are correct that my sister in law should be receiving DIC. Her husband was killed in a car accident on his way to the VA. This was 13 years ago. They had been married for 13 years at the time of his death. She received SS for her daughter for 8 years until she turned 18. She then started receiving a widows pension, and was told that she could not receive both SS from her husband and widows pension. Her daughter is 23 now, and applied for benefits where she was awarded chap 35 DEA bennies. Doesn't that mean my SIL should have been receiving DIC from his death? This would really help her out greatly since she is struggling to make …

Lost A Good Friend On His 64Th B'day
Need a little help. A good friend died, on Friday, 5/6/11. He served w/101st Airborne(but he was a leg/non-airborne) 3/187 "Rakkasans," and was at Hamburger Hill. I'm fairly sure he was over 10yrs at 100%. Two days after he died the VA awarded him 10% for IHD, back to 5/2010, but no change in comp payment. We have the service and burial of his ashes, tomorrow. Cause of death was pneumonia, secondary to COPD. No autopsy done. COPD wasn't SC but has over 10yrs at 100%. Unfortunately no will or trust - people please do these things now!!! It's easier on the family if they know what you want. And, BTW, we "are" going to die, in case you have any doubts. I need t…

Dic
I asked 2 widows to join and wrote a lengthy topic on a DIC overview the other day which I LOST in HYPERSPACE! However these 2 BVA cases from 2010 reflect the DIC regs very well. http://www.va.gov/vetapp10/files4/1039644.txt This case was denied and it shows the rationale for that. http://www.va.gov/vetapp10/files3/1028988.txt This case granted an award of DIC. It was hard to find a DIC award under the 2010 search feature and no DIC case came up under 2011.I almost decided to post a link to my BVA case but found the above award instead. My BVA award does not reveal all of the extensive evidence the BVA had and I also had a VCAA violation, rendere…

Should I Report Dic Fraud
I need some opinions. I definitely know of someone who is receiving DIC for a husband who passed in 1989. Since she has been with another man, has had three children with him and they refer to each other as Husband and wife. It really bothers me. They have been together for 20yrs or more. Their oldest child is 15. They have not officially married. I have to remain anonymous as it is a small town and I have to deal with them all the time. They are well off so the loss of money will not be an issue to the children. Please advise if anyone has an opinion or experience with this.

Help/advice For Dic Claim
Good Evening I was on the board many months ago asking for help with a DIC claim and I am needing advice again. My husband died at 33 years old of a blood clotting disorder (antiphospholipid syndrome--hypercoaguable state) which I had a doctor review and he linked it to a medicine he took in the military for latent TB called isoniazed and wrote an IME/IMO for me. My case made it to the rating board, but was sent back for further development. My question is amoxicillian can also cause this condition (antiphospholipid syndrome). He took amoxicillian in the military for a common virus/or cold (I think), but he only took it for 2 days because he had an allergic react…
