"as Likely As Not" ?
i have a question i would appreciate your help with. the va sent my deceased husbands medical file to the va long beach medical center (he was treated here for his severe wound he was honorably discharged for) for a medical opinion as to whether he caught the hep c from the blood transfusions he received during his treatment for the wound in 1978. i spoke to a va agent this past week and was told the opinion came back with the wording "as likely as not" only. Is this the wording that gives the veteran the benefit of doubt? my husband's personal doctor wrote a letter to the va stating the hep c was a direct result of the blood transfusions he received while in the…

Dic With Dea Benefits
I was reading over the DEA application and became confused - again. It says at one point that a person cannot get DIC and receive DEA benefits at the same time. Did I read this wrong? Now I can't find the citation. Berta - did you continue to receive your DIC concurrently while you were receiving DEA benefits for school? Anybody?

Lymphoma And Dic Claim Question
Hello all, Recently my father, a Vietnam veteran, passed away from his service connected Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer. It is connected from his time in Vietnam, Agent Orange exposure. He was 100% disabled rated and all that from his cancer. We are currently about to go through all the forms for DIC and burial benefits with his VSO next week. However we have one concern. His VSO stated that his cancer had to be listed specifically as the cause of death to make the DIC process go smoothly and get approved. His Lymphoma is listed as the cause of death on the death certificate but on that certificate it only says "lymphoma".....it doesn't spell it all out and state…

Update On Claim!
Well, here we go again! Claim is "Secondary Ready for Decision", so I will wait and see what comes of this, but at least I know it is moving. Hoping that everything is there for a decision one way or the other, and does not have to go back for another medical opinion.

Va Doctor Opinion
i have a dic claim filed for hepatitis c from a blood transfusion in 1978 which was the cause of my husbands death last year. i was told his medical records were sent to a veteran doctor for an opinion and they have to respond by june 7. the veteran's agent i spoke to today said this request was sent by the rater. i am wondering if this is a good thing, bad thing or the normal flow in order to grant a dic claim. you opinion is greatly appreciated. :)
