Service Connected?
my deceased husband's doctor wrote a letter to the va stating my husband had no risk factors for contracting hep c except through blood transfusions he received while in the service. however, hep c is not listed as one of the service connected disabilities, which are: general digestive condition, general, general respiratory condition i was speaking with a veteran while waiting at the doctor and he told me that my husband's doctor should have added to the va letter that other ways he could have contracted hep c in the service were: Jet “air gun” injections * Medical procedures * Blood transfusions * Re-used needles, syringes, and vials * Dental procedures * B…

ptsd Grrr - I Got Another Rubber Stamp Denial
AMC came through with a SSOC in todays mail. Once again, I am denied for DIC. They did not list my evidence. (spoilation?) Rubber stamp again! They did not address my issue - that PTSD contributed to my hubbys death. (denial made while not condiserating my position) As an aside, they mentioned the DVD I sent them with the second set of papers but did not list the evidence, and never mentioned the original documents I sent...(spoilation?) I have thirty days to respond, which I will, with the full gamut of information I have already supplied. They said if I do not respond within 30 days, they will send the file back to the BVA. Is that good for me or b…

Restored Entitlement Progran
NVLSP has made the point many times in the VBM that many survivors of veterans deceased due to SC could be el;igible for this program but not realise it. The REPS form is part of every 21-534 DIC form but still- I filed the REPS application with my 534 in 1995 and they VA has never acknowledged that form since my award for SC death and even has a note in my C file not to send me the new REPS application as the form has changed a little in the last decade. I knew I was eligible and contacted REPS directly a few months ago and provided them with the SSA info they needed, the award letter, and the new REPS form. The only thing they needed was the formal rating decision w…

Aid And Attendence Question
looking for your advice on this question. i filled for widows veteran benefits (pension including aid and attendence and homebound). filed for veteran's benefits on dec. 22, 2009. i was speaking with a person (at my doctor's office) who said i might have to have receipts for the va and he couldn't explain why. i do not have any receipts as i have had no income since my hubby passed away and i have not been able to pay anyone for help. because of this i have learned to do most things around the house over the past 2 months. i have been struggling to accomplish these things, it takes a huge amount of effort and takes a long time, but i am having successes. …

"dic" Live Tonight At
Tonight I will join Jerrel Cook, Carol Olszanecki, widow of BWN vet and an excellent veteran's advocate, and a widow named Joanne who is in the initial stages of a DIC claim. This should be an interesting show for veteran's and their spouses as well as for widows of vets. Veterans are always concerned for their loved ones so hopefully many vets and widows and widowers of veterans will tune in. This is one of hopefully more shows on this very important topic. It will eventually be in the Stardust Radio archives if you miss it tonight! http://www.stardustradio.com/ Join us in the chat room if you wish and I wi…
