  5. The document upload feature is working today. I guess you have to get in where you fit in. So I am uploading somethings today.
  6. I am getting this same error message. I uploaded a document in April but for the last couple of weeks I have not been able to upload new evidence that I need to upload for my husband claim. Please help.
  7. I am very proud of you and happy for you. I like the way you took your time and got everything in order. Good motivation for us to stay the course. Thanks!
  8. Porter74, review this article to make sure you are properly rated on the knees. Thank you for posting your rating information. It gave me hope because they did a better job on the knee ratings than on my husbands as far as rating the pain, instability and arthritis. We are looking into a possibility of a re-evaluation of hubby's bilateral knee injury. He is rated as: Osteoarthritis with patellofemoral syndrome, status post meniscectomy (left and right knee) total 40%. Residual scares - associated with osteoarthritis with patellofemoral syndrome, status post meniscectomy (left and right knee) total 0%. But in your list, I only see instability for the left knee. You may need to add this to your to-do list for your next filing. Here is the article. http://www.attiglawfirm.com/blog/va-benefits/veterans-disability-benefits-how-does-the-va-rate-service-connected-arthritis-of-the-knees/
  9. I found an example of a rating noted on this message board that agrees with the article posted above. Porter74's rating includes separate ratings for knee pain, knee instability and degenerative arthritis of the knee. This is great news. We will proceed. Porter74's Knee Related Ratings: Right Knee patellofemoral pain syndrome with degenerative arthritis 10% Right Knee Patellofemoral with degenerative arthritis 10% Left knee pattellofemoral syndrome with degenerative arthritis 10% Left Knee instability 10%
  10. I read the article below and was wondering if anyone else had experience with their knee condition being rated this way? The additional factors (limited range of motion, pain and instability) listed in the article are listed in Hubby's rating notification document. http://www.attiglawfirm.com/blog/va-benefits/veterans-disability-benefits-how-does-the-va-rate-service-connected-arthritis-of-the-knees/
  11. My hubby recently received a 40% rating for his knee bi-lateral condition. We finally had a chance to sit down and look at the medical records for other conditions. Feet pain and lower back pain is listed in the SMRs almost everytime he was seen for his knees while on active duty. He has constant foot pain and lowerback pain but has just dealt with it along with the knees. He has made an appointment with a podiatrist to get an formal evaluation of his feet. I already started the claim online to hold the effective date for one year. But I have two questions: What type of doctor (specialty) do we see for the back claim? Should the the back and foot pain be claimed as directly service connect or secondary to sc knee? It is listed in the medical records but always in connection with knee injury.
  12. Congrats on 30%! This is a journey and you are well on your way. Don't be discouraged. Keep pressing on! I am so happy for you.
  13. "Also a nexus can be proven for combat related PTSD with receipt of the CAR, PH or CIB in your DD 214." Berta what does this mean? CAR, PH or CIB??
  14. My husband's Voc Rehab counselor emailed him on yesterday to tell him that she has arranged for him to meet up with a guy who is in the same field that my husband want to go into, Occupation Health and Safety. My husband is going to this man's office at the VA to talk to him about the field, job requirements, background and required education certifications. He will actually learn what to expect when he is done with school. The man will become sort of a mentor in his field. Hubby will write up what he learns and email it to her to add to his education plan/ case file. I call this success story because this lady did not have to do that. She really wants my husband to be successful in his new career. Success is not always dollars or even benefits. About the benefits: She said she will be writing his plan in July when he is done with VRAP. But she is asking him for information now like the career outlook info. She has not come right out and said it but we assume he is approved.
  15. Great news! Congratulations! I get so excited every time read another success story!
  16. Hubby applied for Voc Rehab on 2/13/2013 and got an appointement letter in the mail last Friday. He has a "group" appointment on March 20, 2013. It looks like things are moving right along. We are pleased.
  17. 18 months ago, we didn't even know what a claim was. Hubby left service in 1997 and we never looked back. He had been a truck driver (88M) since he joined the Army right out of high school. After he got out, he made a good living driving trucks. But we didn't know what to do when his knees gave yet again out after many incidents since 1991 and he had to have surgery on both and had to find another less physically demanding job. I was doing research online and found hadit.com. From this site, we learned how to request his medical records and how to file the claim. We also learned about education benefits here. Now my husband is in school full time and getting paid by VRAP (ends in July 13) and now has applied for Voc Rehab (hope it starts for Fall 13). And now we will have the monthly claim money coming in. I said all this to say, thank you for everyone who is willing to share what they know. I am a firm believer in reaping what you sow. You will be blessed for sharing your knowledge and experience on this board. Your work is not in vain. Thank you , thank you, thank you.... I am so grateful!
  18. The AB8 letter generated today giving hubby a rating of 40%! So, I went in and did the Voc Rehab application on VONAPP. Things are looking up!
  19. Congrats on this great news! Voc Rehab is my husband's next step after he receives his percentage (which is in the works as we speak). He wants approval in time for Fall 2013 class registration. Very encouraging news. Thanks.
