carolinian got a reaction from broncovet in Champva
My dependents have Champva and we received a packet in which gave us a lot of information about how this work and what all is covered etc..... We also read that Champva only covers 75% of the overall cost for medical services rendered to a consumer. What other companies offer good secondary insurance or is this info in the packet incorrect? Thanks in advance

I would file a claim for them, I don't see how it would cause a reduction in your current 100%rating, did you have all these problems before your initial claim?
if so they should have rated them also.
And yes you can get SMC if they add up to 60% or dependents on the severity of the disability's...if nothing else you need to get them SC at least if there not/if you do Theresa better chance on getting a rating.

I WOULD FILE FOR THEM IF I WAS YOU

Some times veterans don't received good Advice from the vso's

I put in for IU back in May of last year and when everything was said and everything was finalized in December 2014. The VA granted me 100% scheduler as things were shocking but the outcome was good. They gave me increases for a few conditions that were claimed and gave me IU for the first 6 months of 2014. I am glad that things turned out this way because it just gives me more options for the future. Do you research and seek advice and help from the wise. Just my situation and claim. Good luck

When I put my claim in 2012 I was told that a veteran cannot receive compensation for hearing loss and tinnitus. We are our own best advocate and the best way to learn is to learn the regulations they are suppose to be using. The only way to get clarity is to find it in black and white. I love the folks here in this website because so many people have been fighting tooth and nails with the VA for a long time. Knowledge is power and it is good we can agree on something and that is get everything that we deserve including spouses of veterans that took care of our kids, home and waited faithfully for us. I just wanted to give a shout out to all spouses that stand by their significant other while they continue the VA fight. The only way to find out if you will get denied is to file the claim and see. Good luck to all!

I downloaded the commissary, deers(forms) px, letters and I will start taking care of business first thing in the morning. I am from SC and you get tax exemption on your primary residence, property exemption on 2 vehicles, and education benefits for your spouse and kids if it applies. I will have to wait to see exactly what the paperwork reads in the envelope that was sent out but the letter on ebennies said effective date 1 December 2014. This is going to be a busy week.

I applied for TDUI back in May of this year and yesterday my claim was completed. They granted me 100% P&T and I must admit I didn't see this one coming. Keep fighting the fight and never give up because we never know what might happen. I wish everyone luck with their current situation.

Congrats: Your not done yet. Get your DOD card for PX & Commissary Privileges, some good discounts. Probably the most important thing to look into right away is , does your state offer a 100% or IU Vets Property Tax Exemption. Michigan just passed an "PTE" Law end of 13, I was IU'd 6/14 got refund of all of 13 &14, very nice. Generally speaking you must file a State Form for the "PTE" in the very beginning of the Tax year with your local community's Property Tax Dept.

You got it, now keep it. Always keep the "Gainful Employment Income" US Poverty Level Income for (1) person $12,???.00 in mind. Your P&T with no future exams, but you still have to report "Earned Income" to the VA Yearly By the Anniversary Date of your IU Award until your 70. I've read the VA no longer sends out the Income Info Requests but we're still obligated to file on our own. Non Filing could cause the VA to jump ugly and you dont't want that.

Sooooooooooooo, sit back and hopefully enjoy your YEAR++++++++ RETRO$$$$$. Couldn't come at a better time. Merry Christmas and I'm sure you'll have a Happy New Year.

The way things are looking and sounding would be a good attempt from anyone guessing how long it will take. My claim online said complete but when I called the 800 number it was in the pending decision approval phase as of 2 weeks ago. I checked earlier this week and now I am back into the Gathering of Evidence phase, so it varies from day to day. I just found out that they are requesting more information from the VAMC in which I thought stands for Veteran Affairs Medical Center. They have already received records from there every since last month. If things keep moving forward in your favor I would say a month or two but keep us informed if things changes for you. Good Luck

Glad to hear from you again and that you are ok. I have been just running around back and forth to the VA for various health problems. I hope that eventually your issues will calm down a bit and give your body a well deserved break. Sometimes I feel like a race car with my heart racing so fast for so long throughout the day. Hopefully I can get things under control as well and we can all look back on our lives in the future and say that we have endured a powerful storm but the waters are calming down now. Good luck and keep us posted.

You are more likely to get your questions answered if you start a new post, rather than ask a question in someone elses post because different Vets advoctates have different areas of expertise. I dont know anything about stipends, but there may be those who do.

    Medic:
"Waiting" is probably not a good idea to file for benefits. Remember, your effective date will be the later of the "facts found" or the date VA received your claim. There may be some benefits for filing a FDC, but frankly, I doubt it, and your chances of getting all the tests you need before submitting before the end of the month are low, IMHO.
It may take VA multiple days to log your claim in the mail room, so waiting until the end of the month could well cost you a month of benefits if awarded. I see absolutely "zero" reasons to procrastinate...medical tests, if necessary, will be scheduled by VA, and the sooner you apply the sooner you will get your benefits. I dont know a single Vet who complains: "Gee, I dont know why they paid me so early, I was actually hoping to get my benefits much later and not now. I have way too much money anyway, so I would prefer to get my benefits at a later date.

I have heard exactly zero Vets say anything close to this.

You're welcome and just look for things in life that you always wanted to do but never had the chance to do them. Also something that helped me was being around people that I kind of close to before I started having a lot of problems. I wish you the best and stay strong.

Good morning! This is a very interesting post and nobody wants to feel alone in this world but it happens. I was in a very similar situation as a lot of other people replying to this post but now I am keeping things under control. I have been deployed four times to different combat zones and I thought I was fine with life until after my 3rd deployment. I noticed that nobody wanted to be around me because of my anger and I felt like the world owed me something for the things that I had seen and the horrific memories that were personal and intimate to me. I have lost soldiers on the battle field and off of the battle field and it's on my mind all day everyday, but I know that history repeats itself and I am glad to be a part of it. Everyone who serves in the military is unique in their own way because of what they have been through regardless of whether they went to combat or not. Their are good things that comes out of someone who feels as if life has their face pushed into the ground. I believe that is where you find redemption is when you have no more cards to play and you can take a good look at yourself and you either like the person you see or you fight to change it. Change is not easy because you have to reprogram the way you live and think in order to survive. You have survived the trauma and now the real WAR begins which is not letting trauma take over your life. I had so much anger after a few deployments and I couldn't get along with anybody and just wanted to take care of myself and nothing else because that's what I done during deployments was staying alive. I don't know of nobody that was born thinking negative or wanting to grow up alone and in fear. After the last deployment my body had been blown up and abused throughout the years but the baddest injury was to my mind thinking the negative all the time. I met someone and we began to talk and he realized that we were alike in so many ways so we stayed in touch and he is a good friend of mine now. History repeats itself and so many of us walk through the same door in life and forget to leave it open for others to feel welcomed and follow through it as well. I almost lost my family because of me not wanting to change my life and the way I wanted to live but we made it through. Sometimes I am not sure exactly how I feel about what I am feeling but recovery is not easy sometimes. When you feel you have reached the bottom of the barrel the only place you can go is up. Don't give up on the mental recovery after War and remember that you are not alone. I wish us all luck and I will continue to keep everyone in my prayers.
