  1. My dependents have Champva and we received a packet in which gave us a lot of information about how this work and what all is covered etc..... We also read that Champva only covers 75% of the overall cost for medical services rendered to a consumer. What other companies offer good secondary insurance or is this info in the packet incorrect? Thanks in advance
  2. Thanks! I got out of the service in January of last year and I had a claim in February. I got part of my claim back in October with a few of the issues mentioned above deferred. Since the Vso said it wasn't worth it to pursue I left things alone. Once I heard and researched smc I realize I may be entitled to additional compensation. The diagnoses for the deferred items came back after the initial return was received by me. I will file FDC's for those items and see what happens.
  3. Got awarded 100% back in December of last year. I spoke with a Dav Nso in regards to other problems that I diagnosed with after the initial claim was submitted. He told me since I am already at 100% it wouldn't matter to add anything else because it could lead to possible reduction. All of my disabilities are service connected including the other conditions I got diagnosed with last year. The disabilities I am looking to add are residuals from traumatic brain injury, sleep apnea, dry eye sydrome, reoccuring cyst and right and left patellofemoral syndrome. I have been reading different threads and post and may qualify for smc or aid and attendance if these items get claimed and added for compensation. Thanks for any advice and info in advance.
  4. I got awarded 100% P&T back in December of last year. I never applied for smc but from what I am hearing is that it should have been given considering my situation. Where can I get clarification or info on whether I was entitled to it. Thanks in Advance.
  5. I got out around the beginning of last year from the Army. Since the reason I was being discharged medically they paid me a nice severance and I didn't pay any money back because the injury was combat related. My benefits started a month after I got out and I haven't missed a check since. from my understanding if its combat related your severance is tax free.
  6. Thanks for the info. I will be reading through it later on tonight.
  7. I am wondering what the criteria is for the different types of SMC that vets are entitled too. I went on the va.gov website and seen the rates but I am not sure what I'm looking at in regards to criteria and eligibility. Any resources as to where to find or download this info would be greatly appreciated. May no veteran stand alone.
  8. I never of this benefit before as I have been service connected for TBI as well but I have a 0% rating. I received 50% from headaches but it was rated separate from the TBI! I will look into this to see if I qualify for this benefit. Thanks for the info.
  9. My docs tell me most people get better but not everyone. Studies do show that only a small amount of people never get better or worse. Mine didn't get any better.
  10. Only thing in this world that won't burn out is God! Everything else will perish one day.
  11. @ Gastone! Yeah P&T with no future exams. I am still waiting on the original award letter for over a month now. I am hoping they have documents enclosed explaining everything and additional programs that may be offered.Always apply and hope for the best.
  12. I was wondering if I would be entitled to any type of SMC as well but never found any info.
  13. Congrats on your win and keep up the good fight. Good luck
  14. I put in for IU back in May of last year and when everything was said and everything was finalized in December 2014. The VA granted me 100% scheduler as things were shocking but the outcome was good. They gave me increases for a few conditions that were claimed and gave me IU for the first 6 months of 2014. I am glad that things turned out this way because it just gives me more options for the future. Do you research and seek advice and help from the wise. Just my situation and claim. Good luck
  15. Congrats! When you get your retro please spend it wisely. Also remember that the 0% is still a good outcome because you can always fight to get them increased. Good luck.
  16. I had problems finding a attorney for my ssdi back in 2013 and most of them were saying if you are not 100% we know you won't get it, so they wouldn't take my case. Well I appealed the denial and filled everything again myself and got awarded with retro. I called the lawyer back and told them what happened and they didn't believe me. If you have a strong case you should be able to find a good lawyer.
  17. Sorry to hear about what you are currently going through with the VA and your medical issues. If you don't have official results stating what you are hoping you don't have try not to wish it upon yourself. You never know what can happen and I must say it takes a strong person to confront the issues you are having but if it means anything to you we are wishing you the best of luck and please keep us posted.
  18. No problem! Get the information out and help someone else out. Since I cannot work anymore I am looking into whether the VA will give me SMC. All of my conditions are service connected and I hope things work out.
  19. I recently received my award letter from the VA and it clearly states that the unemployability that I put in for was granted and that I was permanent and total. I will not be seeking any type of employment but I am looking into whether I should be receiving any type of SMC on a monthly basis because if it. I have one condition rated at 70% and another at 50%.
  20. When I put my claim in 2012 I was told that a veteran cannot receive compensation for hearing loss and tinnitus. We are our own best advocate and the best way to learn is to learn the regulations they are suppose to be using. The only way to get clarity is to find it in black and white. I love the folks here in this website because so many people have been fighting tooth and nails with the VA for a long time. Knowledge is power and it is good we can agree on something and that is get everything that we deserve including spouses of veterans that took care of our kids, home and waited faithfully for us. I just wanted to give a shout out to all spouses that stand by their significant other while they continue the VA fight. The only way to find out if you will get denied is to file the claim and see. Good luck to all!
  21. I downloaded the commissary, deers(forms) px, letters and I will start taking care of business first thing in the morning. I am from SC and you get tax exemption on your primary residence, property exemption on 2 vehicles, and education benefits for your spouse and kids if it applies. I will have to wait to see exactly what the paperwork reads in the envelope that was sent out but the letter on ebennies said effective date 1 December 2014. This is going to be a busy week.
  22. Thanks for all the information and the congrats. I am checking out the state benefits now. Thanks again
  23. Great info and I will be exercising my voice from now on and get some of these discounts!
  24. Does anyone know where I can find the federal and state benefits for my state at? Thanks and my state is SC.
