I am always baffled when I read these types of post. My reply will always be the same. DO NOT SUBMIT THE CLAIM IF YOU FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT. I CAN GUARENTEE YOU THE VA CAN CAN CARE LESS ABOUT PAYING YOU FOR ANY OR YOUR SERVICE CONNECTION INJURIES/DISEASES!!!! Every barrel of apples will always have a good bad ones in them. The good will alway out weigh the bad....you have service men/women such as myself would give their ALL to be 100% healthy as appose to being any form of disabled less along 100%!!!!!!

I had NOTHING in my medical records!!!!!  Because of my service connected injuries I was able to show excessive weight gain during service, numerous complaints from roommates with loud snoring, gasping for air during my sleep habits, able to show I had requested numerous sleep studies from the VA but was denied during my 1st year out(important you make sure you have them DATE STAMP ALL CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN YOU AND THE VA).  I had an IME from Dr Bash(don't listen to the rumors...call him because each case is different!!!!!  His IME along with my Dr. Riad Dahkell Board Certified Pulmonary disease and Sleep Medicine EXPERT here in Maryland did it for me and I am grateful!!!!!  Dr. Bash was able to use Dr. Dahkell write up and link the 'in service' connection which gave me 12yrs of retro!!!!!!

I can honestly say that SEC Bob McDonald aka 'Bob' really cares about Veterans. I met him while having a conversation with another Veteran. He just stood there and listened to our conversation. Afterwards he introduced himself...my mouth almost hit the floor!!! He thanked me for my service and asked for my phone number!!! A day later he called me to follow up!! Please note I am already 100% but I have an issue with my effective date!!! Instead of being dated back to 2000 on some issues the VA ONLY paid me from 2008!!!! We are talking some major chips!!!! Well my 'new' buddy 'Bob' is all over it and it also helps to live in the DMV!!!!

For the 1st time in 14yrs I personally received a call from my rater at the Baltimore Regional office. She was awesome in getting EVERYTHING back dated to my date of discharge in 2000 because it was proven it happen in service!!!!!

Two huge amounts were deposited into my account today....Ebenefits was down earlier and I couldn't check....all i can say is WOW....waiting on the big envelope to break down my 100% schedular permanent!!!!!!

The retro check I will receive is for my daughter who is now a sophomore in college...all of Tuituions and monthly stipend of lil over $1,000 will be paid ALL back!!!! Each day is great day but this May 1, 2014 will always be special!!!!!!

Bottom line...WHATEVER YOU DO....DON'T GIVE UP...KEEP FIGHTING....I AM A LIVING WITNESS.....14YRS LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is stories like yours and so many countless others that makes it all worth it!!!! Ole rule of thumb...if you are rated at 70% plus more likely you should be a 100%!!!! Keep fighting and whatsoever you do.....DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!

My original claim was dated within the 1 year that I got out of the serivce and ALL my evidence could be located within my medical records......just kept fighting them. I didn't settle.....

Additionally i was able to show the 'date stamped' from the VA on ALL my paperwork.....lesson...each you submit something do it in person if you can and receive a 'date stamped' from the VA...this way when they loose it you have your copy showing the date!!!! Trust me..they will loose it and sometimes its done on purpose......etc.

This second claim should give me 100% Schedular Rating. The folks up in Baltimore Regional office have been awesome!!!!!

Yes, this is great news and what you said about VA is true......I bet many of the good people who work at ROs ( are there are some good ones) are as frustrated as we are with the system....and many sure are vets too.

But a 14 year long fight???? that is awful and your post reveals how a strong IMO can overcome VA BS.

Dr. Bash....... he is wonderful and did two great IMOs for me years ago.

He has been on many of our SVR radio show podcasts here too.
