Question
jtl111
Back in 1989(during my Air Force career) I was attacked and beat up pretty badly. I was unconscious for approx 3 hours and sufferd a concussion. My left ankle was broken and I now have a plate and screws in my ankle to remind of this incident daily.
The Air Force immediately rendered me not qualified to serve and discharged me. They gave me a 10% rating on my ankle and a check for 20000.00 They taxed the crap out of the check and i was left with the scraps.
Anyhow since the incidence I have had panick attacks, severe nightmares, anger issues, marital problems and work issues with my fellow employees and bosses. Things have gotten worse since the attack and I did not do anything earlier because I wasn't aware of what was happening to me. I have taken the advice of a fellow vet at work and filed for PTSD.
My question is this. I am currently being traeated by a Liscensed Professional Counselor. She wrote a statement to the VA with a diagnosis of PTSD. Will this hold water with the VA or will I have to go in and see their pscho guy. I really don't want to tell my story again because it upsets me terribly and is very embarrising.
Please help.
