Is it possible to put in for P&T for PTSD and major depressive disorder if under 55? I understand the VA views PTSD as likely to improve but does anyone under 55 have P&T status? My medical records show a worsening since diagnosis with treatment.

Oops, forgot to mention, at the time they awarded TDIU, they were required to consider/discuss the HB and A&A, SMC "s" award issues. Failure to do that means that claim is still open.

I forgot to mention though that this was the RO assistant manager's response in Philadelphia when I inquired about P&T status. I had asked him questions about VA health coverage for my son, being that he said I needed to resign from my government job and lose health insurance in order to be awarded TDIU:

Unfortunately, there is no health insurance available through the VA for your son unless you were considered Permanently and Totally disabling, CHAMPVA would be an option. As explained to you in earlier communications, while your current symptoms of your service connected conditions interfere with your ability to maintain gainful employment and render you totally disabling (hence, the 100% disability evaluation rate paid) under the law, we cannot consider your current symptoms of your service connected condition to be permanent at this time because of your age ( under 55) and the condition is not considered static at this time i.e. your symptoms could improve at some point in the future. Consequently, we must continue to schedule you for future review examinations every few years or so to monitor your condition and symptoms in accordance with the law governing scheduling future examinations for Veterans under age 55 Please let me know if you have additional questions..

Also Gastone, my IMO psychologist's credentials are Phd and he wrote the letter this past August 2014.

bionoce: The PhD for a Psychologist makes the difference with the VA when it comes to DXing PTSD at the C&P exam. If it's a non VA Psychologist PhD, it will be interesting to see how the VA addresses the DX of T&P. Like I said before, hard to find a VA or Private Psychiatrist or Psychologist that doesn't think their specific type of treatments can't help lessen the PTSD symptoms which "Could" cause Possible improvement. As long as there is a chance of future improvement, IU T&P might be a tough sell to the VA Raters. Might actually end up needing the BVA Hearing. We'll just have to wait for your report.

I guess I'll request in a personal statement "P&T consideration based on previously submitted medical evidence documenting the progressive worsening of the condition, with no reasonable chance of improvement since the original VA diagnosis in 2005." ?
