Just wanted to put this post out there because it genuinely took me as a shock. Luckily, it shouldn't have a huge effect on me, but it really might for some. So as most know, each state has different benefits given to vets with disabilities and most notably is that many states give property exemption for 100% P&T or TDIU vets. See link here for info: https://www.military.com/benefits/veteran-state-benefits/state-veterans-benefits-directory.html This is all fine and good, but I just applied for my exemption in my state only to learn that I would see no benefit from it until September 2021. The reason behind this is that our state is bass ackwards …

What does the G. I. Bill pay these days? When I was using the G. I. Bill back in the early 1970's I got $320 a month to pay for tuition, books and living expenses. This was a joke even then, so I had to work 20-30 hours a week and take full time classes. WW11 vets got much more than Vietnam Era vets. So even vets have to beg for Pell grants and get loans.

Hello, Bro's and Sis's I'm sorry but I couldn't find a forum exclusively about the GI BILL. If this isn't the right place please move it to the right forum if you don't mind. I got out of the Army on May 15 2006th, and I used a good bit of my Gi Bill (Chapter 33) not the forever GI Bill, which I thought everyone who qualified, for the GI Bill was switched over to. I still have over a year left on my (Chapter 33) GI Bill, and just found out that it was not apart of the forever GI Bill that Trump signed in to law, and found out my GI Bill was expiring soon as was my right to utilized the VOC REHAB educational assistance. I'm Purple Heart recipient , rated 100% at the …

Good morning, Do any of my fellow Veterans and/or retirees know if the Forever GI Bill will address/change the requirement of enrolling in college and getting in-state tuition for a dependent who is using the Post-9/11 GI Bill in a different state within 3 years of the veteran retiring? The reason for asking is, I retired in 2011 (3 years before the Choice Act was passed into law), and my daughter is just starting college this month. JR

I just read on standup4vets.org a politican has introduced a bill to "round down" on our compensation and/or DIC payments when the yearly quota is figured each year. He proposed it would save millions we are paying to our veterans. So there you have it folks, guarding the coffers once again. Supposedly the DAV is on top of this and opposing it. Read it at standup4vets.org.

Hello, I am TDIU P&T and have been for all of 2020. I have also lived in the US and California for all of 2020. I see the Golden State Stimulus but it appears to only be for people who filed a return and/or have the Earned Income Tax Credit. I do not normally file a return as all of my income comes from the VA. However, under TDIU rules, I could theoretically make some amount (up to around $12,000 I think) as long as it's under the poverty line. My question is, could I file a return and claim something very small in income, like $100, from doing some kind of handyman work for someone? Would that be legal, and would it qualify me for the stimulus? Thanks for …

Well-planned offensive pushes veterans agenda in Oregon by Julie Sullivan, The Oregonian Sunday June 21, 2009, 9:19 PM Oregon soldiers will find it easier to avoid repossessions, keep their jobs, stay in college, get a home loan and spend time with their families because of the 2009 Legislature. New laws deliver more legal and logistical support than hard cash from the state's strapped coffers. Eight years of combat by the Oregon National Guard created wide political support. But the passage of 19 new laws, and another five awaiting the governor's signature, has less to do with young patriots than with middle-aged military veterans in key positions who, like…

Hey All; All the votes have been counted, Gov. Quinn is it, now hold his feet to the fire. In his own words he says "Do all that is possible for those that has sacrificed so much for this state". Email, Write, Call & Fax him about the following: 1. Current legislation for Illinois Disabled Veterans (HB0273), currently still in the house, first reading, with over 75 co-sponsors just in the house alone.... 2. Public Act 95-0644 Section 35 ILCS 200/15-169 = That allows Illinois Disabled Veterans an annual $2500 / $5000 property tax exemption, based on awarded service connected disability rating. a) For some reason Equalized Assesse…

https://www.navyfederal.org/index.php Navy Federal Credit Union is an excellent bank. It is available to ALL military, not just Navy. We signed up with them recently & applied for a credit card. We have crappy credit, yet received a $5,000 credit limit. They also do low interest mortgage loans, low interest car loans and personal lines of credit. You can use any local credit union as an ATM and they will waive any fees. You can speak with them by phone or email. It only takes $100 to get started with the free savings and checking account.
