Help
First, let me apologize for the length of this post, but to me I'm in a confusing situation. I need some advice. I’ve been reading postings on this website for about 18 months and it has helped me to be knowledgeable to a great degree on dealing with the VA. I received a rating of 40% in August 2008. It included 20% Degenerative Disc Disease, post operative (I have had a double ANCF C4-5 in Feb 2007 and a double discectomy at the same level with mass lateral screw fixation in June 2008); 20% Left radial nerve dysfunction post-op; and 10% posterior neck scar, post-op.. This resulted from a worsening neck and left arm condition since an accident during Airborne Trainin…

Va Health Care
I am a 100% SC veteran that was involved in a bicycle / truck accident. Since this accident I have received many hospital bills as I was hospitalized, and receive out-patient follow-ups, etc. Question: Can the VA help pay these bills? I only have Medicare A. Thank you. James

File For Higher Compisation
I have been a 40 percent service connected since 1990 and just recently requested an evaluation for a higher rating. Can my rating be lowered as well? Is there something I can do to help the results? Thanks

Is It Me Or Is This Nuts.
A letter telling me to come in for a C & P to see if my condition of my original SC problem has improved. So let me get this straight. I got rated SC in 1984 for chronic metatarsal pain in my left foot. Every couple of years I'd get called in for a review C & P - once they reduced it to 0% but I appealed and got the 10% reinstated. My last condition status evaluation was in 1993. I've been favoring my left foot for 20+ years, and over the past few have developed problems with my right foot and knee. I finally filed a claim last spring, asking for increase & right foot & knee as secondaries. Got my C&P last month. So now they're going to eva…

Dav Finally Gets It
I got the DAV magazine today. They seem to finally get it that the claims process is a disaster. They are afraid of any radical change in the claims process since that would leave them high and dry. However, they want faster claims service that sort of retools the broken system we have now. Too bad they are about 40 years too late to help me.

Iris Response
I also sent an IRIS inquiry today and also received a response within two hours. My inquiry had to do with whether I would be scheduled at later date for a C&P exam for pulmonary fibrosis. I have already had four other C&P exams for other claimed disabilities but not the pulmonary fibrosis. The following is their response: "This is in response to your recent inquiry to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The regional office received your military records pertaining to your exposure to asbestos from the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC). Since the regional office didn’t request an exam when your other exams were scheduled, it is unlikely they will nee…

Va Rule Change
NEW VA RULING WILL END DELAYS IN PAYING PARTIAL GRANTS VBA's Regional Offices had been delaying payment of partial grants for 120 days. by Larry Scott, VA Watchdog dot Org ------------------------- On January 6, 2010 the Veterans' Benefits Administration (VBA) issued Fast Letter (FL) 10-02. The document is available for viewing or download here. It seems the VBA has been holding off on paying "partial favorable findings" from the Board of Veterans' Appeals (BVA) for 120 days. The 120 days is the time to appeal a decision. But, who in their right mind would appeal a favorable decision? This was just the VBA's way of holding on to veterans' mone…

Got Mri Report - Add It To Claim Or Wait For Decision?
After the C&P I went to last month, I put in a request for the records. Got them, and the examiner reports that my left foot has RSD, my right foot has plantar fasciitis & morton's neuromas, and that the right foot condition is 50/50 likely related to my SC. She then said that my knee probably had a torn meniscus, and that it was likely due to a previous injury (uh, what, from 25+ years ago? They didn't notice when the let me in the military?). She said that it was not likely due to my SC injury. Anyway, on her recommendation, I got my PCP to send me for an MRI. The MRI report came today and states that "There is Chondromalacia Patella" and various points of…

Parkinson's Disease
Hi everyone, I have a cousin who I recently learned has Parkinson. He was in the Viet Nam war. I have heard that Parkinson is linked to Viet Nam (Agent Orange). No one in his family has ever had Parkinson. My questions are (1) Does it matter what branch of service he served in, just as long as he was in Viet Nam; and (2) How would he go about applying for service connection. Thanks in advance for your replies.
