ptsd Denied Educational Benefits
After I got out of the Marines in 1992, I slogged through school and ended up with a degree in Business Management after 10 years. I finally graduated in 2004. I was recently awarded an increase in my disability rating from 10% to 20% with the inclusion of PTSD. I have an employment handicap. I have had 25 jobs since I got out. I get to a point where I get bored or angry and I end up quitting or getting fired. I come to find out that my PTSD is a cause of a lot of my problems. I finally got sober and have 2 and a half years of sobriety. I have been working my butt off in AA. I have only had my current job for the last 2 1/2 years because my sponsor told me I can…

Got Response From Voc Rehab In Mail
Well white evelope came in the mail stating that they received my application for Voc Rehab and employment benefits. But I applied for ILP. The letter goes on to state that a VA staff member will conduct an orientation to Chap 31 services for which I must attend. I cant even bring myself to fill out this long 4 page paperwork they sent me. I just have to much anxiety and my head is all fogged up. It says I should plan for the meeting to last 6 HOURS. You have got to be kidding me. I could physically last in nobody's chair for 6 hours. Is bad as I want the ILP I cant take all of this. Says I have to watch a video and do some vocational testing. Chapter 31 For Disabled Vet And Chapter 35 For The Spouse
I am a 100% T&P disabled vet of NEARLY 20 years. I believe it is possible for me to get chapter 35 benefits under the severe provisions of the title. (with a lot of persuasion) My wife of the last five years may also me eligible for chapter 31 benefits (see Cypert v. Peake, 2008-9) If we both were students we would get $925 a month each. Is my thinking correct? I have heard of vets with 100% T&P either going back to school or getting training in a new field. Please any input would be appreciated. Robert

Extended Evels...
Why is the VA so stuck on getting everyone in Voc Rehab on extended eval??? They insist that I need to be "tried out " for 6 months at a job to see it I can handle it. But in order to get a good job, you need to go to school to get the skills the employers are looking for. My councilor told me they are NOT going to pay for schooling!!!

tdiu Independent Living
I am completely disabled. Eligible for Soc. Sec. but only rated 70% (waiting for application to go through) I recently moved from Alabama to Illinois. The Alabama Voc Rehab representative said that I was eligible for assistance through Independent Living. But because I was homeless at the time, he said that he would fill out all the paperwork and set everything up so that when I found a home I would be all set. I bought a home with my SS back pay in my hometown in Illinois. He forwarded all my paperwork to the Voc Rehab in my area. She then set up a meeting with my wife and I. When I arrived at the meeting, she told me that I was ineligible for the program because I wa…

ptsd Does Va Offer Ilp To Vets Who Aren't Housebound?
Did anyone miss my questions? :D Here is one. How does the VA really determine the Vet who can benefit from Independent Living Program? For thoughts, if a vet is mobile-or-house restricted granting ILP should be a no brainer. But what about the vet that can drive, but struggles with depression and other mental health challenges, ptsd or anxiety disorders? what about if the vet is married, in a family but just doesn't have other freindships? Is the program a possibility? I looked at the application & regulations last year, just don't know if theres a chance. Thanks for reading, Just your freindly, yee-haw, ] Hadit Cowgirl ~ !
