Quesion About Voc Rehad Or The Ilp
A friend of mine was told he has exceeded his time limit for voc rehab and is not eligable. Does anyone know anything about a time limit. the site did say you have 12 years from when you got out or got awarded. he was medically discharged out so that was both over 12 years ago. He did get an increase to 30% from 10% about 4 years ago. Does that re-age his time on that. Please advise of where I can find this info or any of the info if you guys have it.... thnx

tdiu Voc Rehab For Iu
I'm scheduled for appt. with Voc Rehab this Tuesday and want to know if I need to bring my paperwork from prior schooling, work history and resume's if I'm just applying for unemployable (IL). I understand I have to go thru the 6 hour class and take thier test's and all. My claim for TDIU was denied for reason of; "I could work sitting down". I filed reconsideration which is still pending. The SO at RO requested I seek Voc Rehab to claim I'm unemployable. So, is the paperwork needed just to seek unemployable status?

Independent Living Services Won't Help Vets With Depression
After all the testing with Voc-Rehab and found Not to qualify because of the high # and severity of physical disabilities, I was assessed for ILP. I can get around my home on my own but my biggest disability/challenge is Depression from Pain and being worthless (in my eyes) but VA can't help. Any other services out there? David

Extremely Dissapointed With The Va
As I said in my other post, I went to my VocRehab meeting on Sept 28th. I did qualify, took the test and that was the last I heard from them, even with repeated emails. My counselor just refuses to answer me. All I have asked her is for an idea of how long the process takes and what are my options regarding work (my job, which is a factory job, is way past unbearable because of my disability). That's it. I don't expect things to happen overnight, but to have some idea of the process would be helpful in planning for certain things. I even contacted my State's Department of Veterans Affairs to see what I could do in the mean time and they never responded. I am 46 years o…

Living Expense While In School Question
I am still waiting to hear back from my counselor to see what track I am going to take in the program. I want to go to a guitar repair tech school as I do it on the side and I know I can make a living doing it if I had certified credentials. I was awarded disability just over a year ago after 22 years of being out of the Army. They only rated me 10% (I was probably at least 70% when I was originally injured back in 1985 since I did six months of physical therapy and I've been in pain ever since). As I stated in a previous post, I work in a factory and can no longer do my job and would quit tomorrow, but I need the income. Since I am hoping to go to a six month tech …

Voc Rehab And Dental
What type of dental care does VA VocRehab provide. I was told by my counselor that VA VocRehab only provides minimal dental care. It was explained if I had a bad tooth the VA would pull it out instead of fix it with a filling or route canal. Is this true? Thanky You my fellow Vets

ptsd Newb With Questions
Hi All, I am heading to my Voc Rehab appointment Sept 28th and have no idea what to expect. I've been reading some of the post in this section and I admit, I am getting a little discouraged. A little about myself first. I am rated at 10% because of a back injury while active duty in the US Army. In fact, the Army just awarded me my disability after 21 years. I think I should have gotten a higher rating because for the last 20 years, I've been miserable. I am also going for the PTSD for other incidents in the Army. I have been able to to work, but only because I've had no other option. I am at the point where I have to lay down or stand up frequently throughout m…

ptsd Tdiu Denial
I got denied for TDIU based on what seems to be just a lack of evidence. So okay. I talked to my social worker guy down in Gainesville and asked his opinion on whether or not he thinks I'm employable. He says no and he will write a letter for me if I want to pursue it. I have since then applied for Voc-Rehab and tomorrow is my appointment with them. I would like to know what to expect. I am currently 70% PTSD, 20% neck, 20% lower back. I have been Baker acted twice since being Med-Boarded for PTSD back in May 2008. I have a hard time following conversations, instructions. I generally don't like people, I hate crowds and I have panic attacks while driving. I take Seroquel,…

Voc Rehab And Old Rating
I've had 30 % rating since 1973. If I apply for Voc Rehab, can they open my file and possibly reduce my rating because of my asking for Voc Rehab? Thanks.

ptsd Say What !
UNBELIEVABLE! I went to the class yesterday. First it was over 6 hours and you are told that if you need to use the bathroom that you need to use it as a group and not interrupt the class individually. I have bladder/bowel incontinence and frequency. So that was a problem which I got a lot of attitude for and rude looks and ended up being put to the end of the line and was told I would see the counselor last. My opinion - They are really not accommadating disable veterans. Then you were forced to work through lunch by taking several exams/watched a film that consisted of EVERYTHING FROM PSCHO ANALYSIS TESTING AND READING, MATH AND MORE... Mind you if you are on any mind…

Voc Rehab Subsistance
How did your counselor add your dependants to your Voc Rehab?? I have currently been paid for my husband but not my 3 other dependants for voc rehab subsistance, but they are on my comp. At first my new counselor told me that my old and worthless counselor should have added them and that she could look at my comp to add them to my subsistance. She said I was going to get a large sum of money for the retro from when the dependants were added on originally, but this was a month ago. I was supposed to get the retro around May 7th and that has come and gone and nothing. So I tried to call her and got no response, I emailed her and got no response. I tried to call the office t…
