I am writing this for my father who was in vn and has developed Parkinson's due to exposure for AO. Due to it just recently being associated with AO and Parkinson's, do I need to help him to refile his paperwork to get an upped coverage? Also if anyone knows this as well. Since it is now connected, is there some way for him to get backpay for the 20+ years he has lived with it? He is just now 62 so it hit him early on. I appreciate any help on this! Good to know there is a place to go when you need to discuss this stuff. Big Pat

I am wondering if anyone has sold their VA disability pension for lump sum of cash? Or can share and information about the process. I am not concerned about the economic factor of managing my monthly expenses. I have multiple income sources. I am more interested in how to find the best quote or what the normal range is.

I just got decline on a widow pension because my husband did not fight even for one day in the Vietnam WAR. He only serve in the Army for 2 years and 5 months and have a dishonorable discharge as his mother is sick and nobody will take care of her so he leave the army. A Vietnam officer at the department of Veterans Affairs told me that he is entitled for a pension when I am asking for help. So what I did is I apply but was denied because of this: You served at least 90 days of active military service 1 day of which was during a war time period. and the wartime period were: Vietnam era. The period beginning on February 28, 1961, and ending on May 7, 197…

I was at a va psychiatric hospital and a VA representative filled out my claim for a disability pension. I had just lost my husband and I was in shock and grieving. I spent eight months in the psychiatric hospital and due to the medications I honestly don't remember much. Since then I have been an inpatient and an outpatient for almost three years. I have had many shock therapy treatments and my memory is shoddy to say the least. My question is if I was overpaid by the VA will I receive a letter of notification. Will the VA give me a chance to respond and request a way to make small payments to resolve the issue and will they allow me to request a waiver? OR wi…

I can't seem to find anything (not even online) about how mental health and the need for Daily Living help effects the chances of getting SMC and at what rate. I have PTSD and Schizoaffective (Bipolar Type) and documented memory loss from Electric shock treatment. But no where do I find if I qualify for SMC and if I do where I would possibly rate (L+ K?). Can anyone chime in on how Aid and Attendance and mental health works in mental health situations like mine. I am not housebound but do require constant help in and outside the house and Aid and Attendance of another person. I do have two doctors a psychologist and neurologist who say I need Aid and Attendance a…

I have been away from hadit for quite some time. I was dealing with several health issues that made it hard for me to keep the intensity needed to deal with the insanity produced by the VBA. Recently, I decided to move into a retirement home. They have independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, respite and hospice all in this facility. I am currently independent living. I am trying to plan my finances based on what benefits I can expect from the VA for nursing home care. Right now I have permanent balance and fatigue issues. I have been reading about aid and attendance and the fact that veterans with a 70%+ service connected rating have benefits. …

After being Granted TDUI Effective March 2004 and having disability rating increased from 60% to 70% by the BVA at the beginning of of Oct, I have made 2 fruitless call to the VA 1-800-827-1000. Is there a way to get and keep getting an update on where my grant is in the finalazation process. I am almost regretting that they sent me the letter of winning on both counts. It causes alot of stress and anxiety. I would assume after going on 15 years it is going to be quite the retro. Main question though how to follow it progression or non progression. ? My grant plainly says TDUI back to March 2004 and 70% same. But the 1-800 # either doesnt know much or they won't tell you.…

I retired from active following Desert Storm with 21 years of active duty, and was approved for VA disability (90%)on 1 Feb 2006. However, my first check did not arrive until 1 April 2007. Am I eligible to received all monies accrued between the original award date (1 Feb 06), and the date (1 Apr 07) that I finally started to receiving my VA disability check? I am specifically wondering if the fact that I was already drawing my military pension will preclude me from drawing the money that was withheld.

I am in the process of applying for a&a for my spouse. I am 100% t&p and have been over ten years. I was reading a post you had on hadit and I feel you know much about a&a, so if you do not mind, i have a few a questions for you. I am 70 years old, my spouse is 69. She has had a terrible stroke, can not walk, can not bathe her self, can not cook, can not drive, has fallen and broken numerous bones, has had two heart bypasses, terrible balance problem. Do you feel I have a change to get a&a for her? Do you feel it would open up a keg of worms and the va would reopen my case? I could not make it without my benefits. Also, I can not seem to find out…

All, Not to sure I understand the VA pension all that much. If you can shed any light on my Father in Laws situation, let me know. He was called up for the Cuban Missile Crisis, I believe, early 60's. He has a DD214, and it references a presidential order. He was NG, and activated for a period of time, cant remember how long. Recently widowed. 70 years of age. SS of $900 a month. $250 a month mortgage on a approximately $135,000 home. I do not know the balance owed. Does not work, no income other than SS. Thats the easy part. He and my late Mother in Law were very anti-government people. So getting accurate info from him may be a job. However, my Sist…
