  1. sorry terry etta is smc loss of creative organs B) i know what you mean she is great and helps me all day long whether i want it or not. she's great for walks especially when i don't feel like it. it's good for me if i am feeling really down i just take her leash down and she won't leave me alone till we walk, it's a motivator. she loves a cozzy and a cuddle and she is a big hit whenever we are out. she is almost always happy and if she's not it's my fault B) i have added a cat i named her eartha kitty, she was lost and showed up at my sisters house about a year ago so i took her in, she is a calico very beautiful and has the nicest personality hard to believe. she get's along with etta and most everyone else she has acclimated nicely to the house. i try to take them to the groomers once a month, eartha is a long hair cat and i have her shaved once a month she looks like a lion when she's done. she loves it. etta getts clipped and bathed also she is a short hair dog but pugs shed like nothing i've seen before, the clipping and anit shed treatment really works.

  4. There are plenty of forums where folks can get in lengthy huge flame wars over conservative vs. liberal presidential bashing and what have you this just ain’t the place for it. i understand venting...but let's let it go at that.
  5. the server had a bit of a problem yesterday. and i adjusted some settings. i think everything should be working ok today, but you let me know.
  6. most computers come with a way to take the system back to factory new settings. sometimes it's in your programs sometimes it's a disk or disks that came with your system. if you are trying to transfer files - i found the best way for me to do this is to buy an external usb drive i put all my files on it. then run a virus checker on them then plug it into you new computer and all your files will be available.
  7. eveyone has a warning system but each person can only see their own. and pete is right you will probably recieve a gently nudge before you get a warning. it is a built in feature in the forum software and no sinister forces at work.
  8. well now - this is some great news! enjoy the vacation you worked for it :)
  9. glad to see you post, hope it was a helpful stay, let us know how the followup goes
  10. looking for a tech savy geek who i can bounce some idea's around with regarding our websites future, should we remain hosting, go to dedicated hosting, or buy a server? if you have these skills and can offer advise it would be appreciated. solution must be windows based.
  11. here's some info on gaf http://www.hadit.com/gaf.htm
  12. now that is the way to line up your ducks. it seems you have your claim going in the right direction. i am really glad that you found hadit.com and it was helpful for you. keep working your claim and if you don't have a regular therapist it would be a good idea to get one. lot's of triggers to navigate as you continue your claim.
  13. Boondoc - a diagnosis of PTSD can be a bit disconcerting it is often followed by thought that what you went through wasn't that bad, however apparently it was because here you are, our minds deal in different ways and sometimes things just get broke. it is great you have a pyschologist make sure you get on a regular schedule with the therapist make your appointments you will need them to help you through this you can do this you can go out again you just need tools and support. On a claim I always recommend two things one get a service officer and two work your own claim as much as possible. I file all my paperwork through a service officer, there are good ones and not so good so ask around where you go to your therapist if anyone has one they like, ask your therapist sometimes they have one they have expeirence with. go to the service officer lay out your claim va pyschologist diagnosis ptsd with agoriphoibia your service recorder with the stressors she has linked this to. service officer should file a claim and you will be scheduled a compensation and pension exam with different doctors, you will most likely need a litter from your pyschologists stating here diagnosis, prognosis and the statement linking the in service stressor to the current diagnosis take good care of yourself - see if your local veterans centers have any resources for family members of veterans with ptsd there are skills and tools that will help them also.
  14. i'm partial to pugs they were breed just for companionship and nothing else. they are like having a big dog in small package. she's happy going for a ride with me, taking a walk, napping, snacking she's just all around good with everything. smart yes, stubborn yes. drawback is they shed a lot however i get my girls hair clipped once a month and the shedding is unbelievably better. oh yes she is clown and will do funny things just to get a laugh and an ear scratch :D she does seem to be somewhat of a nicotine addict she is always picking up butts it just sticks out of the corner of the mouth and she just hangs out with it dangling out the side of her mouth - she does crack me up - as puppy she was a handful, but not more than most puppies. i wish you good luck with this
  15. i also have a dog and one reason i got her was agoraphobia and she helps alot i can take her with me and sometimes i even take her to therapy with me sometimes, cause my therapist always says whatever gets you here :D when the weather is nice i try to have a cup of coffee and stay outside in my backyard for 2 smokes that's how i time it, if i can make it to two smokes outside i'm doing good. now me personally i am blessed with many nieces and nephews they grocery shop and run errands for me and sometimes they just come with it seems to make me less anxious when i know someone is with me though if i'm out a couple of hours doc appoinmnet whatever i start to get real edgy and agitated and if i can't get back to my house right away it's flown blown panic attack. hang in we can try and give you some options that have worked for us.
  16. you need to see a gi doctor so that they can rule out a variety of things before you know if you have ibs. there are many things that appear to be ibs like but can be something else. if they say it's ibs there are some new meds out there that are suppose to help, also healthfood stores usually have somehting. it is embarassing, painful and debilitating...many of us here live with it to one extent to another. mine is milder than others, but it will keep you home. doc told me he thinks it's my constant level of anxiety, but who knows. it's not a death sentence and it can be managed, it just sucks.
  17. couldn't agree more with berta, vbm is a great resource here's a link to the nvlsp.org page http://www.nvlsp.org/Publications/Bookstor...nefitmanual.htm
  18. heres' a link to the story VA 'Retro Pay' Begins Tom Philpott | September 14, 2006 A small group of disabled military retirees this month will be the first of 133,000 to receive lump-sum back payments, which are tied to start-up challenges for two “concurrent receipt” programs enacted since 2003, say officials with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). 21. i think i'm just brain dead, but i had a vet tell me that someone told them if they say they are sending you an SSOC it means you were turned down. is this true?
  22. that will be sweet :D congratulations on your win and i sure know what you mean about the good feeling you get helping your troops
  23. welcome aboard i don't belong to any service organizations, however if i was looking to join one i'd call and ask for sample of their recent magazine, post or chapter newsletters and i'd ask to go to couple of meetings to see if it serves your needs. i've used service officers from vva, dva, legion and it seemed to really depend on the individual service officer also check out member benefits discounts and such that each offer speaking of discounts you may want to look at veteransadvantage.com it's strictly for discounts and not a service organization but a discount is still money in your pocket.
