  1. i believe vike's right they are not purposely screwing with your head, though it does feel like it at times.
  2. you can recieve social security disability if you have paid enough into the system. you can also use your va claims as evidence you are totally disabled, here is the website for social security http://www.ssa.gov/d&s1.htm i found it was easier just to call them and they explained everything to me. they will send you application, you will apply, there probably will be at least one exam by their doctors and they will make a decision, if they turn you down you can then get an attorney to assist you with the appeal.
  3. well done! happy for you and yours. make sure you check for your state benefits http://www.kdva.net/ and once things settle down you get the check deposited and your retro in the bank. you can call the va 800-827-1000 and ask them to send you a letter as proof of income and benefits and proof of permanent and total status. i request a letter each year for a tax credit we have in my state.

  5. power point is an excellent program stretch and i hadn't thought of using it for claim, that is interesting and thanks for the link to that web clipper thingy i'm going to try that as soon as i get time.
  6. ahoy there dean aslways glad to see you. haven't had that problem, let's see if anyone else has
  7. agreed c and p exams are no place for the strong silent type i understand why you protect your wife, but just be honest with the c and p examiner you don't have to protect them and you must let enough of your protective outer shell down enough to let the c and p doctor in. harder said than down, perhaps try visulazation sometimes that helps for me, when you go into the c and p visualize rolling down a window you have control over the window and you can roll it back up as soon as the exam is finished. it may sound silly, but i try a lot of things like this to help me.
  8. i always recommend an external usb hard drive to back up documents, just in case, of course i have a constant overwhelming sense of impending doom
  9. this may help http://www.hadit.com/glossary.htm as the others i am totally amazed they would even consider sending you back to active duty it just seems 70% for pstd rating is incompatible with military service, it sure would seem they would have to lower you to 0% to even consider letting you back in and i not enitrely sure how this would effect a future claim of ptsd it certainly presents an interesting question.
  10. congratulations! i am so glad you were able to find some help here. that is what hadit.com is all about. you take care of yourself and thank you for passing out those cards!

  12. let's not go there where we are suspect of each other. if you are suspect of someone is not being honest just ignore them don't respond to them it serves no purpose here to post your opnion that someone may or may not be valid. that is a discussion to nowhere.
  13. it will pass you are not alone this happens to many of us, you need to rest and replenish your resources. take care of yourself the way you would take care of someone you love very much.
  14. sometimes the board does hiccup sorry for this i've double posted myself

  16. i've met at least one person who didn't get a c & p and still received a favorable rating, though it seems as i remember that his disability and the start of that disability was undeniable
  17. The other side of service connected disability compensation – Mental and Emotional Brothers and Sisters –Welcome Home! Thank you for your service to our country and thank you for your part in hadit.com’s success. Claims for service connected disability compensation can be a very trying to the veteran and those around them. As you go through the process of applying for disability compensation and do not be mistaken for the vast majority of veterans it is a process and not a thing. Processes take time and resources from the veteran who has probably reached a point where there resources are very low. This information is for you the veteran going through the process, based on my personal experience and years of creating this website and listening to veterans stories. Though the following is directed to the veteran, there is a whole book that could be written on the toll it takes on the veterans family and friends. Probably another book on the effect to veterans advocates. In the end though I am one of you a veteran, a bit broken, but chugging along. 1. Do Not Neglect Your Health! Following your claims from beginning to end can and does consume many veterans. Keep in mind that you are in the claims process because something serious has gone wrong with your health, if it is a physical disability be aware that it will almost always drag you down a bit emotional y, cause extra stress and frustration so if you are seeing someone for your physical disability and you begin to feel the stress is more than you can deal with, be sure to ask your service provider for some help getting a therapist or getting into a group that will help you let off the steam. If it is your mental health, then you are probably already seeing a therapist or have had some kind of mental health help, use this as your support system you will need it. The question of service officers is constantly debated pros and cons, it is my personal opinion that it is always a good idea to have a service officer, consider your service officer as one of many tools you have at your disposal for completing the claims process. Please take care of your mental health, if you are having problems get help. The added stress of the claims process is very difficult for a veteran whose mental resources have been depleted to the point where they need to file a claim. I like to think of it as a safety net, I have walked the tight rope without a net and the fall is quite unpleasant. So if I fall now I know there is a net below that will catch me, I may bounce a bit and rest there a bit, but I will be able to get up again and climb the ladder and start the walk again. I want the same for you. 2. Compensation vs. Validation – You can get compensation from the V.A., but rarely will you receive validation for what you have gone through. If you want validation got to therapy, get in a group of veterans with similar interests or problems as yourself. Don’t let the lack of validation from the V.A. or for that matter the military push your buttons. Remember go to the V.A. for compensation and seek your validation elsewhere. My two cents. 3. Bringing your claim to a successful conclusion can be a life changing event for many veterans and their families. Give yourself to time to get use to it, don’t be surprised if it seems a bit anti-climatic, many veterans feel this - it will pass. Emotional ups and downs after a successful claim are normal, so just be aware of this and if possible try not to make any life changing decisions, including financial during this period. Let yourself level out a bit, you will be fine. On the other hand you may have none of these emotional ups and downs again just my two cents. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I hope it’s helpful.
  18. bob - until you get a feel for the drug, please don't do anything dangerous, driving, going down stairs, gas ovens and so on...your judgement may be impered. i always safe beats sorry every time!
  19. Thinking of using spam arrest http://www.spamarrest.com/ anybody using this? What's your opnion?
  20. OUTSTANDING Congratulations, now breath and relax a bit...you earned it.
  21. merry christmas and a happy holiday season to all Peace
  22. it is very difficult to live and manage your ptsd symptoms, and management is what is all about cause there is no cure and that totally sucks. i have said on several occassions if i thought swinging a dead chicken around my head at midnight and howling at the moon would help i'd probably do it. i hear your frustration brother, you are young and you do want a life and you deserve one. pot is illegal any time you do anything illegal there is a risk. you have to ask yourself is it worth the risk, and only you can answer that. if you decide to try it you need to be honest with yourself and monitor your use, addiction is easy with ptsd, and only you will know. i truly want you to be better, ptsd is difficult many of us have walked this road for sometime and you are right i do feel we need to help our brothers and sisters behind us who have no idea how their entire lives are going to be turned upside down. i for one am here for you brother what ever you decide, just be watchful that you don't let any substance come between you and your therapy. talking it out with others and a professional in my opnion is the some of the best medicine.
  23. enjoy take some time and get everything set up for your husbands needs and then you two take some time to relax and enjoy the fight is over.
