  1. The sad reality is those in Gitmo get better healthcare.
  2. I came up with 81.4, without the bilateral factor. As far as the 40% for 1 injury to get IU, I think the VA must take into account that this Vet meets this definition by way of the muskoskeletal........both legs, feet and shoulders. 30 30 20 20 5-10% = 81.4...with all bilaterals added you may have in fact gotten to 90%.
  3. This has been a good year for my COLA.....truck & car paid off = 898 per month, Shaved $317 off the mortgage, reduced FEHB by $124 per month. Total COLA = $1339.00 per month.......which gets banked for a new Titan (Harley on steroids), if I could just stop smoking that would be another 250 per month.
  4. WTG CC........made the VA feel the spurs did ya?
  5. Wow a 2fer......VA and SSDI without even knowing it. CONGRATS!!!!
  6. 60%, Since in your post it appears that you can do the core functions of your job with or without accomodations, I suggest that you take your new VA award to HR, put them on notice that you are requesting accomodations for learning retention as you are forgetting things due to your TBI. This will give you some protection, but you need to follow up on this with a paper trail....who , what, when , where and why...CYA not theirs. If you get flack from this you always have the EEOC and the MSPB.
  7. Sorry hippie, NASA blew the hell out of the moons BOA, it no longer exist.
  8. Papa, It could get your foot in the door for a possible C&P, but without a medical rational as to why your doctor feels that it is SC'd, it will carry very little weight, but at least it is a starting point.
  9. darkhorse, You know what you want, so go for it. From what you are asking for should be no problem. Good Luck.
  10. ILP is different from one RO to the next, you are being to reasonable based on the fact you were denied a education that would have cost the VA thousands per year. You like to cook....ask for cooking classes, or you kitchen redone with the latest appliances. A computer is good, along with Graphic design classes.....But you could do this yourself. A good orthopedic mattress is good.......but you could get this yourself. Painted walls are ok, But again you could get this done on your own. Bottom line here is, focus on the item that is most important to you. I to went down this road and let the VA off with a 2K computer....dont get me wrong, it was needed and I did not do my homework on this ILP before hand , so I took what was offered. There was a CVA case on here some time ago where the Vet liked to paint, or photography......the VA was happy to provide the paint materials and some classes.........the vet also wanted a enclosed glass addition so he could paint......The VA said hell no it would cost 30k....CVA said hell yes and the VA had to build it. It never hurts to ask for what you want, you can always appeal......but stay focused on the thing you realy cant afford but will in your opinion help you the most.......some say you only get one shot at this, I dont know the answer yet, but I will be testing the waters again in the future.
  11. "Read between the lines. The employees were doing what the Management wanted." I agree, but then they were told to stop......they did it anyway. All three should have been canned and should have been made to apologize to those effected.
  12. WTG Mom........congrats. Yes the Chptr 35 benies are great....my wife used it, my kids are using it, without it we would be in debt for life.
  13. The MSPB with the help of the VA pinheads in Missouri gave a Shredergate employee of the RO a repreave. I cant post the case from the MSPB, but if you go to MSPB.gov, recent decisions Kyle Taylor v. Veterans Affairs. MR Taylor was fired from the VA due to being part of Shreddergate after the VA found shredded documents from Vets in his shredder......MSPB Judge upheld the firing, he appealed to the Full Board , arguing that he received a harsher penalty than 2 other simular employees that were accused of the same one received a 30 day suspension and one received a 15 day suspension.........The Board agreed and reversed the AJ and Ordered the agency to reinstate Mr Taylor with a 30 day suspension with Backpay and interest, any and all benefits due. Between these 3 VA employees 85 claims were effected.........So much for Justice.
  14. Dont be to sure of that, look at the price of oil today..........looks like we are going back up to 4 bucks a gallon soon.
  15. WOW, Va on the ball this year.......bank account got some extra vittles and its only Aug 24.
  16. You have a 12 month window after discharge to file and be considered as SC without to much hassle , so if your medical is in order, your chances are good, but this is the VA.
  17. Pete, There is a bill before the house, but I do not think it has yet passed as there are many for Vets at this time.
  18. My father has started taking B12 shots as he had colon cancer and a terrible time with chemo effects although his hands are numb along with his feet ( chemo effects ) he is no bouncing around like a rabbit.
  19. Raise the roof on these jokers..........I stopped going to the VA for these same reasons. These VA docs think they are god, but most could not hack it in the real world. What very few good docs they have get burnt on the BS. F**k'm, raise hell......go to the top of the VAMC food chain.
  20. Great News, WTG.....enjoy the beach, you should see the $$$ in the bank soon as you have your award in writing.
  21. Same here, got mine today as I am on the 4th Wed of every month......bought a pressure washer the other day so it mostly paid for that. :D
  22. This was on the news tonight......no cola for this year and possibly next year. This situation is not political, it economics 101, to say diffrent is foolish reasoning.....we all know the COLA figures are based on false presumtion, but that is the way it is, and it has been that way for many years. We were very , very lucky to get what we got last year...a calculation based on a few months forward, we would have gotten maybe .05%. Just set back and wait to see if all this debt will create inflation over the next 14 months.....we will be lucky if it evens out.
  23. "Does VA do a refinance to cash out to pay off other debt?" The VA will still sign off on a loan of this type, but you will need to have no BS on your credit reports such as collections ( most medical OK if not to high)it is mostly up to the lender, the VA just back their % of the loan.
  24. You will probably retain about 7-8 hundred bucks a month from your FERS + any SSDI amount.
