  1. Berta, Good to hear it was nothing bad. I once got a certified letter from the VA , about 6 years ago telling me that in a file reveiw I was on the list for those that were being looked at for Hep-C due to the use of the air guns in bootcamp........I just stuck it in my file, it was weird that it was sent certified mail.
  2. "Actually medicare is secondary to Federal insurance, Anthem, Medicare is primary to tricare." On mine medicare has always been primary to any other insurance including federal, anthem. I also think you will be given the choice of part B. I have never had a problem with doctors, realy it was better because they saw I had 2 insurance companies therfore they would get the moola. No medicare for kiddies
  3. Very true, I saw alot at the PO, I was lucky to get that job, but it was a constant fight to keep it, but it taught me alot about the Federal system. sure glad I am out of there now.
  4. In the Federal Sector Veterans are covered by the following. VEOA under 5 U.S.C. 3330 USERRA under 38 U.S.C. 4324 If you think you were passed over for a job that you were qualified for then you file a complaint with DOL, if DOL cant resolve this then you will be notified , then you would take your claim and appeal this to the MSPB. If you are passed over for a Federal job that you are qualified for , the agency MUST get approval from DOL to do this. Vet's have rights, and good protections in place but you must know what they are and how to proceed, and that is the complicated system we live in......Its not a matter of whether you were harmed as it is , do you know how to fight for your rights.
  5. Num, The first thing you need to do is tell the counsler your fears of just leaving, and if he could help you get all your info, including doctors to fill out the OPM DR papers all with reasons related to your SC injuries( Including a IU completed form, and SSDI papers) then you should go for it, just make sure you have ALL of the info ready before you take the PO the no more work letter.
  6. WT go Lady.....enjoy yourself....most definatlty get that fixed, but make sure you get a good contractor.
  7. That would be Tammy Duckworth, I think she lost her legs in a chopper crash, BTW she was with OBAMA on Veterans Day.
  8. Could the Govt. actually produce these really tasty and cartoonish looking strains the microgrowers produce. Back in the 70's the guberment was the ones who developed the best strains. I am glad some states are realy getting this right, for decades people have bought into the myth, and now a new gerneration is taking over and things are changing.
  9. Thanks again I will make sure she gets them.
  10. Congratulations, take some time for yourself and your family.
  11. Berta, Thank you for your input on this, but I am to late, as I got a e-mail from this Vets wife that he passed on Sunday morning. I did not know him, as I only met him the one time, but he was one of those country boys that worked hard and did not complain, and I guess that is why I am realy upset that he was shoved to the side by the VA and did not get the benefits he deserved and ultimatly died for. I did get another E-mail from his widow today, she is frantic, and does not know what to do at this point as they sent off for the C-file on friday. I will be talking to her tomorrow to help her on the DIC claim.
  12. You could do this, and your reasoning is why I say TDUI is a better rating if you never plan to resume any employment, I just think it is easier to get the P&T with.
  13. I stand Corrected, I could have sworn they told me it was based on last digits of SS#, but now its good to know. You will be notified from SS about your dependants when the claim is flagged as approved, they will request certified copies of birth certificatesm, marrage lic, bank account #s and such.......realy pretty smooth with them or so mine was.
  14. I understand it to be based on the SS number, and that determines the deposit day in any given month, 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th Wednesday.
  15. I met a AO Vet yesterday at the Docs office who was in for Chemo treatment, while talking to his wife I found out that he had been battling Non-Hodkins since 1989. His wife told me that the VA rated him 100% in 89 as a secondary to AO exposure but reduced him to 10% soon thereafter, and his 10% was for PTSD. She was told by the VA that he would only recive 100% while he was on chemo for the AO. The VA again granted him 100% in 1998 as his condition had worsened enough to warrant the increase , and this time it was P&T. The VA denied him a power chair as he would not go to the VAMC for treatment. THe VA is a far distance for them to travel, and their vehical is not very worthy, plus he does not trust them. This Vet has now lost most of his hearing due to this and is in a wheelchair. I asked his wife if they have ever applied for a Auto grant or a Housing grant. She told me the VA told her that the 100% was all they were entitled to. They live in a 1967 modle trailer and drive a very old auto.....the wife just found out she was entitled to Champ VA which she jumped on. I need some direction here. I think this Vet is entitled to the following. Housebound-AA SMC Award Housing Grant Auto Grant SC for hearing loss, and most likley a higher award for PTSD, but already a 100%. I also think by our discussion, there might be a CUE claim for the reduction in 1989 to 10% but that may come later after I see the C-file( This was sent for today) Have I left something out? I am just realy pissed that he has been shoved to the side. These are not well educated peeps and the VA knows it.
  16. skunk, you have been caught up in the Patriot Act, the RO heard a skunk was a comin and that freaked them out so they got movin. Hope all goes well.
  17. I hope he can finaly put his life together somehow, we all know he was very troubled so maybe he can start to heal.
  18. Do not beleive anything that says you will be getting another check. If any package is approved it will be for infrastructure.
  19. I will take it and run, this evens the score with my property tax peeps....being even is better than behind.
  20. 1-888-442-4551........fax# 1314-552-9785 You will be on hold for a while if you can get through....be prepared to hit the redial, as this is a bad time of the year for them.
  21. 3 more months of this crap........i realy cant wait.
  22. simple fly, File a complaint with the EEOC....this wil wake up your stupervisors.
  23. "the CBO acknowledged that the 2.8 percent COLA likely would be too small and said it would revise its economic projection later this year". Now theres a brain in motion.......we will just wait until the end of the physical year when we will know the real cost, then we will put the numbers out.
  24. "A 6% COLA sounds good but not so good at same time" Very true as the real COLA would be hovering in the 15-16% range according to our own guberment, but what do they know anywhoo.....when I hear the chant "drill baby drill" my butt puckers , I have been drilled by the goverment to much already.
