  1. Total cost $1,213.22........good Lord, what you got, a eighteen wheeler?
  2. BETRAYED When it comes to pain you treat it in the manner that is best for you, it is your pain. When I left the service I was a mess and the VA made it worse by sending me bags full of the good stuff. One day I was going to work and stopped to get my mail , I woke up a few seconds later confused, I reached into the mail box to find another VA goddie bag, so there I was on the side of the road wondering what happened with the goodie bag in my hand, I turned around went home and threw it away along with everything else besides my stomach meds.......my life has been much better. I have good days and bad days just as before but at least I am here,I am so glad I stopped at the box that day as I know if I continued I could have killed someone or myself if this would have happend while driving. My father is going through Chemo now, and I am going to talk to him about this, but as a former cop it will not be easy but my mom can make some mean brownies.
  3. I have always said if the big Pharma co could patent this it would have been leagle a very very long time ago.......its mother nature's alternative to presription drugs in a much broader context. I will not attest that it fights cancer but it is medicaly proven to reduce the bad and unbearable effects that treatment causes, and the effects of cancer and many other diseases.
  4. carlie, congrats on the win.......Whooo hoooo,500 smackerooos
  5. this realy depends on what kind of surgery and what body part was affected, so more info is needed.......1993 is a strech but not impossible if the VA was notified at the time.
  6. mine hit also, but it went to taxes on the house for now, need some new britches but that will have to wait till next month.
  7. Josephine, You could go get a copy but that is about it, these things take time and it looks as though yours is progressing along. As far as the Huntington RO goes I had very good luck with them, some have not, but I know it helped to be within 20 min drive as they knew me by first name before it was over.
  8. Ruffcreek, Apply for both at the same time, if SSDI is turned down you will get the regular SS amount minus penalty for being under 65, this will keep open your claim for SSDI for appeal upon meeting the medical requirements.
  9. Are you just now applying, or did you have this before the letter?
  10. Betty, Stop thinking about this, you are in the clear. Take time with the hubby and go enjoy yourself, you fought the battle and won.
  11. The way things are shaping up based on the CPI from SS it is looking "more likley than not" we will be topping out at 3.5%-4% on our cola's for 08. I know it should be higher but we know how they get around the true CPI but it will be better than the last, but will still not reflect what is needed in todays cost.
  12. hayley3, Ever thought about having a IMO done by your own Ortho? This kinda throws the ball back into your court.
  13. jbasser, The only withrawls that are flagged are the ones you get from , say a retirement fund or a roth account.........if you have 100k in the bank,( savings account ) the irs knows it, if you decide to take out 15k they ARE NOT notified, its your money and you supposedly paid taxes on it already so lets not confuse the issue here, money coming IN over 10k is reported, if you take it out it has no bearing on anything or anyone and you are NOT taxed on a withdrawl unless based on the aformentioned.
  14. Josephine, Do not fret, your VA is non taxable, uncle george knows this as the bank deposit will show where it came from, yes the IRS was notified and they also know where it came from. When you go to a bank and deposit 10k or more the bank will notify the IRS, this will give them grounds to start looking where this $$ came from if a pattern continues. I beleive this started during the early mob days during prohibition.
  15. Jerry Berry ( spelling ) has a web site on this and there is a wealth of info on this subject. The sorry part of this is the VA AG and the VSO's orgs will not comment on this. The only way any VA could be attached is for a federal debt or child support otherwise it is off limits but these state judges are ignoring the law and adding their own. My ex tried, judge told her she was SOL.
  16. Ricky "Most if not all state judges are allowed to consider VA disability" I would like to know to what law you are refering to allow this unless congress has changed something I am not aware of.
  17. tanker31, Age 26 is cutoff for chpt 35 but they might be able to get it waivered fo a period. The VA should retro the compensation for the time of P&T to present, the rate the VA pays is now at $867 per month for full time, this amount is to be used for anything she sees fit, she should also check for any state tuition waiver. Many States vary and some have nothing at all, but as Berta stated she needs to get with the school VA counsler ASAP to get the ball rolling. I have 3 using it now, and the the smarter half of me will graduate in 2 weeks with 2 degrees and will continue another 36hours for another, grazy thing is , she wants to work for the VA hospital.....man are they in for it, mother in law was a BSN state inspector.
  18. pdandrea, 5 years is not long and if she has or is working that part will get easier, as far as the house goes, it is only 2 years old and any equity seems to be from the money the VA granted so at the most she would or he would get a appraisal then she would be entitled to half equity minus the VA money or at least this is how it should go. As was stated there are Vets who have made a stand and went to jail because state judges write orders to circumvent the protections given a Vet by congress.....but you will never see one of these chicken extract judges order the VA secretary to cut the ex a check because they know they cant so they order the Vet to do it so he or she can be held in contempt. My ex tried this once and the Master comish thought he would go along but his mind was changed 3 days later with a stern motion an a copy of title 38, so tell your freind to get a good lawyer and hang on for the ride.
  19. You gotta love all the high Tech redneck stuff on the market nowdays. Personaly I am old school, I use a old crank phone with 2 wires, if no fish pop up I just move to the next hole, but at least you are fishing and that beats working anyday. B)
  20. jbasser, That is some great news, the dragon has been slayed........now lets go fishing, headed to NC friday interested?
  21. This should not be on your short list....3 years, you do not need to wait on the IU from the VA, you need to file ASAP.......get all your medical together and take it to them in a pile and make the application.
  22. Jum, Congrats....We know who we is, the problem is right now in this market 'we' is right, having a rainy day fund is a good thing and the way it is looking you might be able to get that boat at a severe discount later and with 'we's savings you could possibly get a whole tank of gas to go with it.
