  1. You know what I say all the time...when you get older, there's 3 things that happen. First is your memory starts to go. And I can't remember the other 2!
  2. Vetquest was in the system 35 years b4 he got 100% P&T. And he was 56 years old when he got it. Didn't he admit recently he is only 60 years old??? I always said the Marines take 'em pretty young!
  3. Look up the diagnostic codes for you HD conditions. Probably 7005. Ask(you might get it quickly) for the report from your stress test at the C&P and see what the results are compared to the diagnostic codes. More than likely, you have high blood pressure also, so if you don't have a claim already for that, ask the examiner during your C&P if your readings indicate a problem. If he says yes, ask him to put the comments in his report also. If he does, I would add it to my claim as well. Depending where you are on the results, you may have to get the decision and then do a NOD. If so, go to a private doc and get a full analysis.
  4. I should have said Flyboy, that I understand what Miniere's is; it is a terrible condition and totally disabling. I am sorry for you and wish there will be some remedy in the very near future. Best.
  5. Berta is one of the sages here; some call her "Queen of QUEs". She has some pretty bad personal history with the VA, which resulted in Berta developing considerable knowledge and expertise with the CUE process. A wonderful resource her on Hadit. IMO.
  6. Shrek is right on target. These things take a longer time than we think they should. Always. And you have multiple decisions to review. Don't be alarmed that your claim seems to be going back and forth either. It happens all the time. Be patient. As Shrek said, check it once a week: it's not going to move quickly right now. Best of luck, GB
  7. I believe it is, but of course it doesn't necessarily mean that the "new claim" stuff will really be considered, or just given a brush off. Too often, the VA rolls a few seprate conditions together with the end result that you get short changed or low-balled instead of being considered as different conditions. If the new claim is actually denied, be sure it is fully discussed by the VA. That is, they talk specifically to the elements of your evidence. If they don't, I believe you would have cause for a CUE. Berta and others could talk to that situation, if it becomes necessary in the future. Hopefully, it won't be necessary.
  8. You are talking about months here, right. Not years. Don't get all tangled up in your decision based on effective dates over a few months. More important to put your time and efforts in submitting a well documented and supported claim. You have a good IMO for each new claim you want to put in for? On a secondary, just because you have a great back up and it makes all the sense in the world, if you don't have a doc's opinion that the new disability "is at least as likely as not" that it was caused (secondary) to your already S-C condition, it just won't cut it. Yea, the VA usually does roll them together
  9. Jfrei, I think you have to expand your sources on where to look for assistance. Have you talked to Social Security on getting disability from them? It's a long process, over a year, but you have to start to finish. There are disability lawyers that can help with that process and they get a % of the awards. If you can apply, don't try by yourself; it will take you forever. Local clergy might have some options for you. I assume you have talked to your dept of social services; there weren't any opportunities to go after? You might need to revisit them if that is the case. American Legion, VFW etc. all have funds to help out veterans in different kinds of situations; try them all. You can call your local gov't rep and see if they have an resources you don't know of. Am I correct you are 100% for only 1 or 2 disabilities, or do have more? It might serve you well to apply for additional benefits on any disabilities you have or could potentially get, as these things usually get worse, not better. Hearing is a good example or getting worse, once you are S-C for it. If you are P&T, you don't have to fret about losing anything. SMC is not applicable in your situation? Trying for SSI is the first thing I would jump on to explore. I wish I had more definate suggestions for you, but some of these may not have been something you haven't explored yet. Good luck.
  10. I was wondering what kind of a response I might get: we are ALL too modest By the way, I'm not sure it really is fixed. I've had problem again this afternoon.
  11. I'm not sure, but it apparently only happened to good (looking) people, so that why we had problems!
  12. I don't know if anyone else had this problem; I couldn't log onto Hadit for 3 days. Message basically said the site had the problem and the error message (1100 meant that sources with that error messages were suspect and were to be avoided.) I use AOL, and tried on several different computers. I was able to get on using my phone but it was way too difficult to navigate. Just wondering if anyone else had tech problems.
  13. Just to answer your direct question, I would expect most posters will suggest you stay the course. You have gone a long way; jumping ships might not be a good idea. Stay where you are.
  14. So, you may have seen this posted here before, but in case you haven't "the VA is not your friend!" They are collectively not looking out for your best interests. What do you have to show that your symptoms and conditions have gotten worse than from when you were last examined and rated? How do those changes stack up to the next rating bump for the diagnostic code (s) you are rated at? Do you have anything from your ongoing treatment sessions from the VA that show your current conditions? Do they show improvement or worseing? If you don't have medical evidence going in it you are putting everything on your exam. You are not making it very easy for a C&P examiner to make a favorable recommendation.
  15. Don't push it on them; if he doesn't want to see it (for the first time, or as a refresher, drop it.) The rater has to address your new evidence, so if the examiner doesn't, and the rater is working off of the examiner's report (DBQ), then if it is NG you have grounds for appeal. Relax, go to the exam. You can even ask if you can wait and get a copy. All they can say is no. But whebever, wait for the written decision letter. Good luck brother.
  16. I assume that your supplemental claim is within one year. Once you submit new evidence, the VA certainly has the right to re-exam based on the new evidence. In their opinion they are saying that the new C&P will evaluate what your IMO said. In any case, you must go to the new scheduled exam. I would bring a copy of the IMO and ask the examiner if he/she has read it. If no, and they don't want to, you would have grounds to appeal if denied.
  17. This site might get you a connection by way of medical opinion Sometimes you can get a specialist to write an IMO if you give him someplace to start. http://www.jnmjournal.org/main.html Good luck.
  18. Fantastic; sounds great. Not to be a wet blanket, trust but verify! (Ebenefits?) Since we are talking about the VA, trust is kinda hard. So great news, but see it in your decision letter.
  19. Shrek, You may be Big, Green and Ugly, but you aint an ass. We all have our burdens to bare. Me for example, I am incredibly hansom. I just try to live with it! If I read it right, you have 9 combined: I come out with 95.799=100%. So your rep is wrong or we are missing something. Check it again Ty.
  20. My wife uses one; makes her feel more secure. If you happen to push the button mistakenly, they call to check on you tight a way. It is worth the money even if the VA doesn't pay for it. IMO
  21. Bronc is right on. Look, this is the VA we are talking about. You have been on the hampster wheel for a while now. The VA doc have said NOT connected. The ONLY way you can beat them at this game is to get your own doc to say YES it is connected. Do some math; if you have a combined rating now at 70%, what would you expect it to be if you were to win the claim with new evidence and your current conditions? Is it going to be financially worth it to spend the $ to get an IMO up front. If it is, get a good one and beat them at their own game.
  22. Ms. Tbird, I wouldn't be punishing your body in order to find out if your new widget works or not. Not cool!
  23. So I think you are saying that the just changed the disabilities page on ebennies for one from 10 to now 60%. When did that happen; like this am.? Maybe it is just the nature of ebenies that it isn't reliable like we say all the time and you really need to wait until everything is in writing Schrek. You don't want to get caught with egg on your face.
  24. So the 8 rates are now changed again? I did the math on what you posted earlier today and got 95.332456, or round to 100%. Do you think they are re-evaluating your disabilities to deny the 100% rating? Before you write the judge, get everything in writing so you can include it with your letter. Second thing, write the letter and then set it aside. Maybe a day. Then re-read it. Then if no changes are necessary, send it certified and copy the DRO.
